oh i guess i should talk about my settings. My settings are all stock except i move the transmission auto set thingy from 10 to 11.

well had a quick half hour session and managed to achieve

1'32.669
1'23.301

2'55.970

using a setup which looks identical to this below

12.4/10.9
min height
4/2
3/2
1.0/0.5
0/0
3/2

lsd 7/60/10
gears auto 6
aids- none
bb default

very brief description= start in 3rd at 4000rpm, floor it, and u should just not get any wheel spin. half throttle first chickane a bit, then take (when taking corners that are sweepers, half throttle it mid corner) the hairpin in 3rd at 70 using partial throttle mid corner.

next at about 110, and again for the left, the fast chickane can be partially throttled as u hit the right rumble strip, and then u can simply take foot of gas and glide over to the next left component, shifting down to 5th as u exit smoothly, last at 140 for first ****ing left, and then 110 for the left ****ing left, both of which can be taken in the 5 th gear. then u may wanna smash ur head on a brick as u finish the race, depending on how well u drove will depend on the force u exert on the brick with ur skull.

may fancy a whack at this time permitting....thx for the setup Dan, sounds perfect like always... heheh...

i hope you guys know that interrupting a race and restarting affects your win ratio in gt mode?

yeah :)

My win ratio went from 80% (from my drifting movie Gridlock [drifting during races])...to a 53.3% after WRS Week 55. Now, I will probably be 30-40% after this week.
I don't really care though, really who is going to see it? Personally, I'll take having fun over a 100% win ratio.

EDIT: I'll have another go at this later, hopefully I can get a bit lower with better settings (bows to holl).

holl01
well, the setup is crap, putting it bluntly, due to the extremely high camber values, with an ff car, u want to reduce the camber, dunno the exact physics of the camber settings though

Thanks. 👍
Like I said, I know little about how to tune a car (I a :dunce:), so any advice helps.

I just complete the race anyway, gives me chance to test other lines and braking points. On the plus side it also helps pay for the modifications to the car, after all my racing for week 55 I think I ended up a couple of hundred in credit and my win ratio stayed at 84%. 👍

This is taken directly from Ducks Tuning Guide so I don't take any credit for this. For my own personal use I've modified it a bit (lower height, reduced camber & changed the toe). But on top of Dans I thought I'd just let everyone else see another option.

This set-up is for the Spoon Civic Type R. It's fully modified with the best parts, including the rollcage, without nitrous, and uses Sports Medium tires. It also gave 1'21.941 on Midfield.

Comments and Suggestions are welcome.

No downforce allowed on this run, though... But even so, settings worth a try.

Mind you, I gotta do a couple of GT races first to get enough cash to buy the thing before I can even start!!!

to dbt: two hints on easy money.
the lazy one: pick a good car to compete the motor sport elise. do el capitan in endurance b-spec on sports/hard tyres. win 750k plus the minolta.
the active one: do the europe/dtcm race in the audi tt dtm manual or in b-spec. it'll take 2x minutes and give you about 900k cr.

to barca: i have ?marks with the camber & toe settings, tcs (1 also gives good launch control and lessens speed reduction) and brakes (with such a light and balanced car 3/3 gives good braking).

anyways, nice to be back in gt mode cos now it all not only depends on the steering and the throttle.

I've been looking into Duck's settings aswell, seem to be working for me. Be back soon with some times.

Took the advice back to the track and came up with:
15/13
76/89
7/7
5/5
2.0/1.0
0/0
5/5
Stock LSD

Best lap in testing:
0'26.605
0'52.980
1'25.394

New splits:
T1 0'37.009
T2 1'04.951
T3 1'37.774

T4 0'26.575
T5 0'53.364 (I'm not sure where I lost it...)
T6 1'25.682

T7 3'02.034

I'm surprised I'm doing so well this week. I don't remember being this close to Niel.

holl01 is making the difference in that last sector of the track

I am quite ok on 1st and 2nd sectors...the 3rd sector it must be the fast chicane which I'm going kinda slow..

SuperT
Yay, time for some rice. 👍

This'll stop me using the throttle like an on/off switch. :D

Edit after next post: I've just noticed that too Neil. I'll be using the '00 till I'm told otherwise.

Yay, time for some KISS MY ASS!! you ignorant fool. If anyone says that again on this thread I will personally ***** slap you. EDIT (I apologize to SuperT please read my next post

Thanks for reminding me why I stopped racing for a year, but that is not going to stop me. I will be back at the end of this week.

Did you seriously stop racing because of someone calling a car rice? Granted, the spoon civic is a million miles away from being rice(if your description of rice is a bewinged, tastelessly modified, body-overworked and non-functional, no power-mobile), but that seems like a rather sad reason to stop racing.

Rice to some might just mean a Japanese hot hatch...

People talk ish about cars all the time. Who cares if they don't know what they're talking about, just smile to yourself and move on. Or, stick up for the car... I also have to take this method when I read some settings. Sometimes I'll mention things to help though, instead of just giving up. I'll post some settings comments later tonight...

Spoon is the ****. :) Will get some time in on this combo later.

Gave it 3 runs tonight with Dan's settings:

T1: 37.158
T2: 1'04.089
T3: 1'36.890
T4: 26.910
T5: 53.757
T6: 1'26.348
T7: 3'03.238

Just to get something on the board...30 min session with holl's setup

34.967
1'01.172
1'32.979 👍

25.912
52.119
1'24.210 :ill:

2'57.189

Not bad, I have the first lap nailed down, but the second lap needs a lot of work. Easily will be a 2'56.xxx or even a 2'55.xxx when I'm finished.

EDIT: At circa: I think you went a little too crazy with the ricer comment...
I could see the reason if it was a really racist, offensive comment, but just for calling a Honda Civic a ricer, I think you went a bit off the deep end. Calm down a bit, SuperT didn't mean to harm anyone.

i said that because I want people to stop saying that, Did you ever take the time to think about where that came from? It came from complete idiots who had no idea what they are talking about.

Seeing someone say that about a car just because it is japanese is what pissed me off. When I see an american car I don't say, Oh look there is a Honkey Cracker car, (I am an American, I am not Asian whatsoever, but I have many friends who are Japanese, not to mention my girlfriend.

I apologize as I understand that that statement probably wasn't meant to be offensive in anyway whatsoever, but please just think about where that term came from (it definitely didn't come from Japan) and ask yourself if you want to be a part of that.

Haven't got a chance to run this one yet but everyone's setup should start by putting Sport S tires on front and Sport Medium tires on the rear.

BTW are we allowed to post final times now? I hope not.

^^ I didn't mean to make my post sound like it's ok to say it. I meant there are more constructive methods to get people to stop saying it (like putting something in your signature [seen it before, works well]). My post says that you went overboard with it (cussing, harsh words, and caps lock), not that you should ignore it.

And yes I do know how the term came to be :)

Really I'm not trying to be an a-- or sound like Mr. Rogers, but after the Week 48 flame war, I want to prevent them from happening again.

Board Updated

I agree with CoolGeekz, there were better ways to make your point circa...and yes...we are discussing full laps this week, no doubt the end of the world is nigh

Just FYI: I've tried both Duck's and Holl01's setups, and I like Holl01's better...

Here are my splits after an hour or so of racing...
Lap 1: T1: 35.735
T2: 1'02.526
END: 1'35.062
Lap 2: T1: 26.896
T2: 53.309
END: 1'25.411
TOTAL: 3'00.473

Can one of you fast NTSC guys upload your replay and let me see what the heck I'm doing wrong here? I can't figure out how to get below the 3'00 mark for the total time -- 2'57 seems impossible to me right now.

WAAAAAAAAAY too much time into this week's race for my first stint... Spent probably an hour and a half messing with settings, then have been racing for pretty much the past two, two and a half hours...

Some stuff started getting worse as the night went on, but other stuff I found out was making up for it. So, crappy race, but overall it's not too bad:
2'57.637 so far. Looking for a 2'57 flat or under. We'll see.

Definitely not a half an hour worth of racing... Coolgeeks... :P For the LONGEST time I was like HOW THE HECK are you going so fast for the first sector! But as time went on, and I messed with my launch technique and my lines and speed maintaining through the rest of the sector, I saw it possible. Saw one 34.88x actually... That was pretty sweet, but when I was pulling those quick times I didn't know how to do the final sector worth crap. So now the final sector's a little better, still not optimum, but better, and other stuff has gone relatively crappy compared to how I was doing earlier. Next time I come back to this combo though, I'll make some headway. Probably spent too long on it tonight...

And, now I'm going to bed. Wasn't planning on doing this for so long... GOALS! This week makes me chase them. Dunno why. It's not because I know final lap times either.

MisterWeary
You better remove my splits because as i mentioned in the week 57 results thread my POS max drive corrupted my memory card last night. So all my replays and save game data are gone, including this weeks. :ouch:

A couple of hours in...using Dan's settings exactly (cos I dunno what I'm doing  ), fairly happy so far:

T1: 0`35.084
T2: 1`01.356
L1: 1`33.532
T1: 0`25.946
T2: 0`51.906
L2: 1`24.095

Finish: 2`57.627

Kinda cool to be racing an FF again, just gotta keep up my momentum around the track 👍

1'33.249
1'23.760

2'57.009

had a so-so start, and am lacking smoothness around the big right hand sweeper, and the double right hander is not my favourite corner either, but i am happy with my time after the half hour dash i just put in...

another 0.5 a lap left in yet, hope to get into the 2'55s this week, and have seen that after using Dan's settings i am a complete dunce when it comes to setting up a car... :(

ROB 256R
Can i just check; are we allowed to drive on the area to the outside of the white lines in the tunnels? I think we probably are but just wanted to check anyway before i waste time perfecting what could turn out to be illegal lines through some corners.

Yeah, all tarmac is ok, and you don't have to pay attention to white lines or rumble strips as long as there is tarmac on both sides.

And circa, honestly I don't see anything offensive or rude when someone calls an asian car "rice". Same as for french cars, I don't mind people calling them "froggies". Of course both could be considered racist or xenophobic, but that'd be slightly paranoid in this case IMO.

So, before this turns into a couple of weeks ago.

What's the go with qualifying?

KLR142
Definitely not a half an hour worth of racing... Coolgeeks... :P For the LONGEST time I was like HOW THE HECK are you going so fast for the first sector!

Other than using holl's launch, you need to race through the second turn into the tunnel, many times you will hit the wall. Just half throttle the first turn a bit, then back to full, then half through the second, then full until the hairpin. Again, you will come VERY close to the wall, but it gives you a nice line into the hairpin, take it in 3rd gear.

I'm still unhappy with my second lap...I will have a 2'56.xxx by the end of today.

Ok, has EVERYONE been using the full track? I've been staying inside the curbing and inside the white lines in the tunnel the whole time...

Are you saying that you were going full wide inside the tunnel before T1? No freaking WONDER it took me so long to get that fast! And SWEET! I'm SMOKING then!

So, basically, this week it's just stay out of the grass and off the walls?

Oh, and my launch is better than Holl's, and so is my LSD Accel setting, what a load of crap!

Actually, I haven't tried 60 yet, but I haven't seen the need. That should just bring more understeer on the throttle, BUT, at the same time, it might allow you to get on the gas better because it keeps the inside wheel from trying to break traction so soon. So, I'll have to try it, but currently my LSD settings are 5/30/10. The 10 decel setting is to try and help stabilize the car when getting off the gas, because it would like to start sliding a bit too often here and there because of the light rear end.

My gearing is custom, and I came up with my suspension on my own, and then came here and looked at everyone's settings and found it decently similar to Dan's, but with stiffer shocks and sways. Now that I look back on it, I should lower the swaybar settings and up the spring rates(mine are currently 5/4 and 12.0 and 10.4) to help make the car remain stable over bumps on one side of the car(reducing the sway strength makes the car more independently sprung, thust allowing one side of the suspension not to be bothered as much when the other side goes over a rumble). Brake balance is also stock. Camber is also 1.0/0.5, but I might want to try toying with that some more.

circa86
everyone's setup should start by putting Sport S tires on front and Sport Medium tires on the rear.
You let me know when you get that to be easily and consistently faster than SS tires on the rear. I, have NOT found them to be better in this race. It's quite possible that PD already modeled smaller tires into the rear of this car, thus negating the need for harder rear tires, somewhat. I think you could use SM tires to some advantage, if you get the car setup for it, MAYBE, but they will not work as well under braking, and I'm already losing speed here and there from having the SS tires wanting to step out on me. Maybe with the SM tires it'll be ok to slide that much, because it won't shave off as much speed, but it'll do it more often. From what I found driving, it took me a good few laps to try and catch up to the speeds I was running on SS, and then I'd swap back to SS and be even faster.
