Thanks for the Supra setting man! I have been struggling to stop the power-understeer through the esses. Hopefully these will help!

Neil

Well, its not really the car's fault, just that its got more speed than the chassis/aero can handle.
What I did with the 300zx that helped alot of the highspeed understeer was to jack the camber up. (I was running 3.2F 2.0R)

Doesn't totally remove the problem, that would require a proper aero kit, but its the best solution I could find.

I'm looking for the papers where I had that lap there... PS2 is now out of reach, and the deadline is sometime today... :nervous: Will I miss out the week where I landed 3rd-in-splits for my Division, and was faster than, say, Cyril? Disaster.

you've got ~29 hours left mate.

Dr_Watson is right, Mater.
Don't panic, you have a bit more than 29 hours to find your paper and submit your time :D

hey cyril... since you're a numbers guy, did you think it might be interesing to normalize the times by power:weight to see how they stack up?
sort of a generalized handicapping system.

LOL!!! :D

*ahem* Challenge-wise, I'll try and put down a time using a Skyline. Can't shoo up AWD after a 6 week absence. :dunce:
Welcome back! Good choice on the Skyline! I'm running it('99 N1) as well... Here are some tips that will help you chop off lots of time once you get used to driving it:

Bump up front springs to around 12 or so to give the car some more front end grip from the suspension. I'm running the Original(Tuners) suspension, and have the dampers set at 6 each, but I haven't really played with that at all, just an initial drop in stiffness when I first set the car up. Suspension is lowered to around 85-90(doesn't really matter probably), sways I bumped up to 5/5 to give it a little more stability without stiffening the springs further, and I'm GOING to play with the camber here next. Back in week 7's race I ran higher camber numbers, and as the Doctor points out above, he thinks it helps too, even if he's talking about the Supra.

Here's the MAIN thing with the Skyline though, do NOT use LSD or VCD. Use the Nissan center differential and limited slip differentials. The car from the factory has crazy stuff going on that makes the car claw it's way around turns. Learn how to drive that and the car is not as slow as people think... 👍

I'm 1mph away from hitting 200mph on the straight with time to get on the brakes and make it around the next corner in good fashion. I'm currently running the Original(Tuner Stage 5) turbokit, but am going to try out the Stage 4 turbokit to see if I like it better. Might make the car get less sideways coming out of the hairpin and give me more speed on the front straight. We'll see if it's better all around or not though. Still need to get the lines and suspension fully sorted first before I can compare which turbokit's better.

Hope you can read through all that and understand at least some of it! :)

just wandered why it is that -again- this thread is filled up with chitchat about maxdrives and custom girly avatars
Because it keeps the thread alive when we're not just posting splits and settings. It makes us all get a better feel for each other and makes us all become better friends. I was just looking back at my posts in Week 7's race for tips for myself this week, and the thread was 21 pages long!(I think), and we're only on page 11 this week with the way I have my posts per page set up. That was a bit to scan through...

****. I've got a challenge for myself this week.
Brad, are you telling me that there aren't any game stores near you in Aus. that buy and sell games and controllers? There's probably more near me, but I can go and pick up a used DS2 for $10 or so...? In any case, mad props to running a 41.7 with the DS1 with non working upper buttons. YIKES!

Magic mondays
20.890 (seen .740)
40.919
this is one of those annoying laps which drops time in the first sector, then is flawless from there on. Every time i get a tenth ahead at t1, its gone by the hairpin, and by behind by t2 :indiff:

Looks like a great idea. I wish I had it myself :D

New T1 - 26.839
New T2 - 51.728
New T3 - 1'xx.622, yes, that's a 1'xx! Not a 2! I'm not as slow as you thought! Fear me! :dopey:

EDIT: Time submitted

I just signed up for MSN you guys, so add me!

T1: 21.263
T2: 41.820

Running 13/10 springs, and 86/86 ride height, 6/6 dampers, 3/3 sways, 2.0/1.0 camber(didn't like other settings, I was just playing with that), 0/0 toe. I think I'm about set suspension wise, maybe a little more tinkering here and there, we'll see, but next is playing with brake balance a little more and which turbo kit to use... :)

Oh... so it's Tuesday Evening, not Monday evening (I'm always confused about other time-zones...).

Tomorrow... I'll have enough time.

By the way: It's Metar...

By the way: It's Metar...
Oops, sorry. I was busy browsing his Cars stickers album with my son, who is a great fan of Tow Mater. :embarrassed:

Now it's time to get the 300ZX out for a ride in Tokyo, or else I'll be last of the 800+ hp category.

Edit :
T1 = 22.439
T2 = 43.550

Yes. I think I'll go to the shops tonight or tomorrow. However, I'm enjoying the challenge at the moment of the Auto Gearbox Only DS1!

Not happy with my fastest lap in the 300ZX since I'm riding the curb rather violently, so I decided I would use another car with only 416 hp.
T1 = 24.105
T2 = 46.051

Looks like a great idea. I wish I had it myself :D

i suppose a good way to test its scientific applicability would be to get a hot lap with max power, then keep dialing the power (and gearing) down until its at base rate. Run a normalization on the times and get a %error.
'tis an interesting test... i may have to try it sometime.
Probably have to use a range of NA cars though. The torque curve changes so radically from stage1-stage5 turbo, would probably pollute the data (more than it already would be given the high level of human interaction).
suppose the most uniform thing to do would be a batch of cars using na.tune 1,2,3 (i say a batch... because 3 samples is hardly a data set)

anyway... i'm going to stop rambling in this thread and get some sleep.
hopefully wake up early enough to play with the 'Z before work.

So much for my one day run in a Supra. I finally, well as of maybe two minutes ago, have had some free time. And I'm not going to pour whatever ridiculous amount it is to get everything up to spec. And then spend the time so that I can get up to speed with everything else.

Guess I'm going to submit my time that I had from last Sunday. Oh well. Hopefully I can be the fastest TVR at least.

New splits

T120.887
T241.237

Im struggling with the right left right before the T2 split. Lots of understeer in the second (left) turn. Still about .6 to .7 left on perfect lap for me. It wont happen though since i get crazy nervous when im on a good lap.

Heart beat sky rockets. Oh man I love racing.

I have some new T times.
T1-22.330
T2-44.917
Total-?'??.???
This is the time I will post, or is it?
As I said before, I was able to go faster.

My last splits were my last attempt, i have work tomorrow early and wont get a chance. But this week was very entertaining with all the set ups and all, gt mode races should be dont more often.

Cant wait for the results.

Time submitted.

T1: 0'21.969
T2: 0'42.536

Hello folks!
I'm back from vacation. Figured I'd run a few laps and get a time in this week. Some Dy-No-Mite times out there.

Car: '99 Skyline M.N.P. II (R34) - 764ps @ 38,640.8km

Well i'm sad to say but the WRS is starting to get boring so depending on next
week I think I might stop for a little bit and continue working on the race series
i'm in right now.

Everyone will be pleased to know (Especially Colby) that I brought a new DS2 today.

For those who are still puzzled by time zones :
12 hours before deadline

Gentlemen, synchronize your watches.

Nice splits Andrew. New splits for me too, it felt like a good lap but we'll see if it's enough for me to lose this damn avatar :sly:

T1: 0`20.740
T2: 0`41.123

My finish felt good but from discussions with others, I don't think it is :(

Board Updated

For my comeback to the WRS I wanted to be one of the fastest around. So after reading the forums for a while I found out that the Supra RZ was the one to beat. So I got on to Ebay Japan and searched for the right Supra to buy for the race. This race is held in Japan on the secret road course known to GT’ers as Special Stage Route 5 in which we will run in reverse. I found a Black Supra for a unusually good price so I snatched it up and paid by Pay Pal. With my black Supra I knew I was going to be the fastest around.

Now you all should know that this supra was by far one of the most difficult purchases I have ever had to make. The first hurdle was the language barrier, so I searched online for one of those translators for the web sites on the net. The one I found could only translate some of the words, as others became weird symbols. But It gave me enough of the description to identify the car as the one I wanted. Out of the jumbled description I got that it was a 3 liter twin cam turbo motor, with a manual transmission, with the color in black, and the year was ?8 which I figured as a 98. On top of the jumble translation none of the pictures would load up. Now you can see why it was hard to hand over nearly $15,000 for this car site unseen.

From the moment I got on the plane I knew this was not going to be the smoothest trip. The Airline got my first class setting all messed up and long story short, my seat ended up being in the back next to fat lady were the drone of the turbine was heard all the way to Japan. Now don’t get the wrong idea I have nothing against fat women, as she was very cute and we ended “spending time together” later that week but that’s a whole other story. And besides two fat people next to each other in economy class is uncomfortable no matter how you slice it. The next mess-up the airline did was losing my luggage. So I am in a foreign country with no way to communicate and the fear of not having clean underwear the next morning. As I said this is not the smoothest trip but what can you do.

After all the airline trouble it was time to go get my car the one thing I new I would cheer me up. So I called up the shop that I contacted to work on my car in preparation for the race. This was the only shop that I found that had an English-speaking mechanic and we arrange for the car to be dropped off there. Once I got a hold of Young (the only part of his name that I could understand and say), he said he had some bad news and to come to the shop as soon as possible. After giving the cab driver the fare I soon saw what was the bad news was, my Supra was sitting in the right bay of the small shop. Young came up to me and told me what I had assumed, that my Supra was not the 98-twin turbo supra I thought it was but an 88. So there was no 2JZGTE siting in the engine bay but the old wheezing 7MGTE. This made my underwear problems seem very small in comparison... to be continued.

OK. Submitted my time. 👍

I wanted to break through a second barrier but didn't get the time to run again... Now that I see the split times posted, I doubt it would make any difference anyway.

I think I might possibly have the slowest time this week, and the least powered car to match! Unless daan submits in his Pug of course...

You did'nt buy a real Supra just for the WRS and you did'nt fly to Japan, don't lie.
