yeah, luxy had a guess that turned out wrong!, i thought you were D2 :D, just you used to be D1 :P, i should of checked :dunce:. Sorry about that.

Luxy will fix it once he updates soon.

Can someone change my name to the correct spelling please ... it's been mentioned twice in this thread already and I don't want to be a bother or anything ... *scuttles into another room*

Starting to feel it now... Got one run in at about 2 seconds faster than my best, then followed up with one at another second off! Still a long ways to go to catch Z.

Still really only about 5 clean laps so far though...

T1 29.969
T2 1:01.995
T3 1:27.942
T4 1:49.882
T5 2:17.452
T6 2:46.083

The lap right after this i was running 1.5 seconds faster at T6, but when i got to the second last chicane the blister on my thumb popped and i dropped the controller. That's definately one of the worst ways to blow a hotlap.

Gloves. You'll look like a dork, but you won't short out your controller with blister-juice at least.

lol, somebody should start a thread where people can talk about all of the crappy ways to ruin a great lap... little sister pulling controller out of the PS2, lightning storm, and blister-juice to say a few. 💡

Best T1 so far is 28.711 but after watching the replay noticed it wasn't 100% clean :ouch:

Oh well, got enough time 👍

Cheers,

FYI...Unless you hit a wall or the game failed you....it's a clean lap!....
If you knew this already..my bad! :)

Bring it on, my friend!

My intention this week is to run a time that would be semi-decent even by D2 standards ... and to trounce your puny bum into the run-off sand.

Grrrrrrrr.

I'm not submitting a time this week, but I've been following along in the progress you all have been making and I am impressed how many people are getting golds this week. I will admit that the golds seem to come easier in GT4 than in GT3, but the times posted here are making it look ridiculously easy. As or me I've silvered this one after about 5 tries and will gold it eventually, but no time for racing this week.

Congrats to all of you on your gold! Good driving to you through the weekend.

Man oh man...I can certainly feel the 'love' with that statement...:D
Thanks!..LOL!

But in any case, I'll make sure to have my flip-flops, beach towel & umbrella in the back seat when you find the time to knock me into the sand...Hate to travel all that way (France, city of Le Man) and not bring a little souvenoir (speckles of sand) back with me state-side! .... ;-)

Ewww... But I second that, especially with the wheel. That damn rubber coating works great...at least until it gets clammy with palm sweat!

Sure I look funny with my Nomex fireproof driving gloves, but they're comfy and grip great!

Didn't race the last two weeks cause I lost my game to a corrupt memory card (TURN OFF YOUR AUTO SAVE NOW). This is one of my favorite licenses, can't believe how slow the Gold time is, anyway , here's where I'm at now

29.716
1'02.003
1'27.800
1'49.585
2'17.097
2'45.681

I'm sure there is at least another second I can find. Good Luck to all (I'm not sure I really mean that!)

@SRD, lol. You see, that's your problem, I ripped my back seat out for weight reduction ... you're carrying around a damned picnic hamper. *tsk* amateurs.

@Vtec ... relax man, there are always a lot of guys who push really hard and it's a tough fight to get up there into the top ten ... and even then you can't go just off the Luxy Leaderboard ... there are always guys who don't post their splits, so you don't even know who may be ahead of you ... and there's plenty of time to be gained or lost right up to the end, so you may be doing better than you thought!

Just keep pushing and put in your best effort ... you're having a huge opening race, so don't get too worked up. :)

Ok thanks for the advice. I'm gonna have a break from it until tomorrow evening so I should be racharged to slash of .5 of a second from that time at least by then.

Arg! I said I wasn't going to try this again for a while, but I lied. Tried to get a few good laps in today and just let my best ever go to waste on the last chicane! Was actually somewhat on pace with the top drivers here and once I saw my T6, I started getting WAY too excited.

T1: 29.039
T2: 1'00.158
T3: 1'26.020
T4: 1'47.612 (lost a little time here -- didn't floor it in time)
T5: 2'14.738
T6: 2'42.909 (early braking lost me a little here)

I need a cigarette. That was intense.

Jebus, I don't even know where I'm standing with my time since the game doesn't wanna show me any T-times. Though I'm happy with the brand new golden trophy. :dopey:

Getting the little shining yellow medal was not as hard as I thought :D
Not so easy is keeping up with you all... ;)

Can somebody explain me how it is possible to get under 1'02.xxx @ T2?

Do you all take the fast right after T1 (the curve that leads into the long straight, interrupted by the two chicanes) in 4th or in 5th gear?

And what's the best technique to attack the chicanes?

Some pointers would be most welcome, as I am struggling to get 1'02's @ T2 :indiff:

The Wizard.

A slight 'dab' on the brakes and shift to 4th, turn in, FULL throttle! That's all i do, just loose enough speed to make the corner.

Mind you, timing is everything!

Hitting 1,02.4-6?? everytime at T2.

That is, IF, i time that corner right! And it's a BIG if..LOL

Neil

Sorry this is a little lengthy, but it helps to be descriptive, so.. hope this helps someone out there.

Start/Finish -> T1 (~29.xx)

Begin wide open throttle, following the outside of Dunlop Curve right toward the first chicane. Your brake marker is the second sign (100m) at the right of the track. Brake down to 4th gear and if you get through quick enough, your revs will not drop enough to require grabbing 3rd gear. You’ll ride out 4th, catch 5th as you veer downhill right preparing for the esses. Get 4th here, although those of you with Normal Display will be told to grab 3rd.. don’t. It’s much faster if you get the correct line in 4th. Grab 5th gear once again preparing for Terte Rouge.

T1 -> T2 (~1’00-1’01)

Move quickly left to a paved section between grass and the apron. This is your turn-in point. Do not leave 5th. If you bog in 5th coming onto the straight, you’ve probably either clipped some sand or failed to carry enough speed through the corner. You can catch 4th here during low revs if you get in trouble, but be ready to hit 5th again quickly. Then again, you’re already in trouble if you need to catch 4th. Place the car at the leftmost lane, but not too far left or you’ll clip debris and scrub off MPH. Turn up your brightness if you can’t see this. Up ahead, your brake marker for L’Arche Chicane is just at the second sign (100m), which should place you in 3rd at the apex, ready for immediate throttle to get back on Mulsanne. Brake no later or you’ll keep sliding into the sand.

T2 -> T3 (~1’26-1’27)

La Florandiere (the second chicane) should be treated almost like the first. Place the car the rightmost part of the road, still avoiding the line of debris, but brake just after the second (100m) sign this time, still dropping to 3rd gear. If you come in too fast, you’ll be welcomed by a very severe dip near the apex of this chicane. You will hardly feel it if you come in at the right speed, however, and be prepared to go wide open again down Mulsanne.

T3 -> T4 (1’48-1’49)

Follow Mulsanne right through the kink, placing the car at the outer portion of the straight once again. Veer right and get straight for some hard braking at the outer part of Mulsanne corner. Careful not to clip sand here, but coming wide will give you tons of exit speed for the straight ahead leading to Indianapolis corner.

T4 -> T5 (2’15-2’16)

Follow the straight at the leftmost side of the road. This is challenging as the small kinks come quickly, but you’ll need to be here for mild braking (hold 6th) at Indianapolis. After mild braking, I lift the brakes entirely and finish up once I get sight of an access road to the right, but you must use 100% brake at this point). You should scrape off enough speed that you’ll be fine to ride the bottom of the left-hander in 3rd gear without pushing off the top of the incline here. Ride 3rd and grab 4th as you pass T5 split, preparing for Arnage (90-degree right). Take this corner in 2nd, but be prepared to shift very quickly back into 3rd. Careful not to hit the rev limiter and lose MPH on exit with the straight ahead.

T5 -> T6 (2’43-2’44)

This begins the Porsche curves with a sweeping fast right. Your (mild) braking and turn-in point is the 100m sign again. Grab 5th, get turned in and go wide open again through the left. Just about as soon as you see the next left ahead, brake mildly and grab 4th. You’ll be on the rev limiter, but ride it out around the bend until you begin to curve toward the exit, then grab 5th. You may need to play with the throttle a little here, but no braking should be needed for the last sweeping left onto Maison Blanche, the final straight bit. Take this wide open through the apex of the left kink and you’ll be pointing yourself at the rightmost part of the road, ready for a small left kink which you can take at lower revs in 4th or high revs in 3rd gear. Your braking point for this is the beginning of the apron after the pit entrance. Back on the throttle, but get ready to brake again before you get too high in the revs. Drop to 3rd and glide across the concrete patch separating the road you’re on and the apron of Ford Chicane giving you a wider entry to floor it to the finish.

A little trick for you all at for T1: right after you cross the start line downshift to 3rd ;). Gains about .1 :P.
