I have no idea what you're talking about!!! :)

Okay, last splits for the evening ... I'm liking the combo and it's growing on me fast.

T1: 30.044
T2: 1'02.392
T3: 1'28.596
T4: 1'50.510
T5: 2'18.263
T6: 2'47.118

Finally got up some splits for this week. Used the DFP this time.

Yay Division 2

T1: 29.725
T2: 1'01'608
T3: 1'28.041
T4: 1'49.621
T5: 2'16.432
T6: 2'44.504

Well. Finally I've had a chance to sit down and take a crack at this. Spent a solid 3 hours this session.
I've ditched the wheel and gone back to the trusty DS2 which got me these:

T1: 30.058
T2: 1.02.568
T3: 1.28.180
T4: 1.49.772
T5: 2.16.985
T6: 2.44.704

I'm losing a lot of time in the first half of the course. I've had .500 faster splits from T1 - T3 but couldn't keep it together on the back half.
This time around I was slower on the front half and faster on the back half which yielded me almost a second faster lap time.
Now I just need to put them together.

Ok, had a go finally today, and managed this with the DS2

T1 29.509
T2 1'01.123 (not happy with that)
T3 1'26.938
T4 1'48.423
T5 2'15.307
T6 2'42.693

i posted this lap on the gt database aswell. its the best i can do for now, i wouldnt mind a corner by corner description of ur lap, hotboi. although u must have stuffed up between T5-T6 a bit

yup i realized i lost .7 seconds there...
kinda choked but had a good finish

i doubt goin over my lap will help, except for 1 tip to help every1 out...
hope this doesnt cause me to lose!

haha for the turn at the end of the major straight
use the dirty part of the track on the left to help you slow down tons

More laps:

T1 29.272
T2 1:01.753
T3 1:27.742
T4 1:49.300
T5 2:16.748
T6 2:44.422 <- UPdated

Knocked off some time finally.

EDIT: Only updating T6 since I'm lazy.

I'm taking that left-hander in 2nd as of now, but I am able to take that little 'kink' right before that turn at full speed....with a lot of braking afterwards... :D....unfortunately though it's not helping in reducing my times though...I also need to find out what 'chicanes' everyone seems to be taking at full speed and feel guilty about 'jumping over'..as indicated by VTRacing here

Anyone wish to clarify? :D

Thx-

Whew! Well I just lost about 2 hours of track time last night silvering my way through I-A to unlock S :grumpy: At least I got that Nissan GT-R Concept as a consolation prize(sweeeeet looking car).

After all that, I only had time for a single run at this week's event. Nice car! I've loved Sarthe since I first raced it but being my first time in an LMP car I have to say, that speed wobble in the DFP on the long straights gets very upsetting :nervous: (although the Nissan in I-A 16 is worse) All in all, this car is insanely fast at Sarthe so I'm looking forward to posting some challenging times, when I get around to playing again (probably weekend only :ouch: )

If you wanna see fast..try using an Audi R8..or even the Toyota Minolta..(won in the US version of GT4 by completing the El Capitan enduro)...both cars are wickedly much faster then the Speed 8! :D

I need to do this race, haven't had the time to do anything GT for the past two weeks. Slowly falling down the learder board :ouch:
👍 looks like this will be a fun one to do.

Congrats to all that are golding this test, seems a lot are!

I am with SRD I would like to know what chicanes people are going flat out through, pulling that off could potentionaly bring down my time quite a bit.

Speaking of my time here are my new splits
T1 29.932
T2 1'02.480
T3 1'28.344
T4 1'49.538
T5 2'16.891
T6 2'45.180
I realy don't know if I can take anymore off seem to be pushing the limit, but I will try.

Sure, but I'm only about 36% through GT4 right now, so the fastest car I've raced so far is a GT500 car. So I haven't raced with anything this fast since GT3.

Quick question: is everybody cutting Tertre Rouge as much as the test will allow? You can significantly reduce the radius of this corner by running high on the inside, and it obviously greatly affects your time down the straight. I feel guilty cutting these corners, not to mention it just looks amateurish, but obviously it's faster in some areas.

I'm getting really annoyed with these three corners. In the first sector I was in the low 30s before but now im either in the high30s or low 31s because of that first chicane. I'm now much faster through the 2 chicanes on mulsanne and slower through the Mulsanne Corner. I can sometimes beat my ghost to indianapolis but once I get there the car goes all over the place through that kink and I end up overshooting or braking too early for indianapolis and the same for arnage. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi again VTEC !

1st chicance : Try not to cut over the rumble strips too much there ... you only lose speed with the hopping over and so on ... just touch them with your 2 tyres.

Mulsanne corner : Wide as possible like hotboi said ... should be taken in 2nd I think.

Kink : Must be taken in 5th gear, with a little bit of braking before it. Stay on the right side for the Indianapolis corner, that corner can even be taken in 3rd gear if done correctly I think.

Arnage : Very important corner for straight speed ... must be taken in 2nd as well

When you say '1st chicane'...is that the very first one after Start/Finish line...or the first chicane one encounters going down Mulsanne straight? (I think it's called L'arche chicane?)

Thanks for the clarification! 👍

SRD:

It's the first one after the start/finish line. I find it slightly quicker if you cut the curb on the left but just let your 2 wheels touch the rumble strip on the right. I broke my record by about 3-4 tenths but i lost loads of time in the last 2 chicanes.

Hi there SRD,

Yes I'm referring to the 1st one you get to after the Finish line ...

And yes I agree with you VTEC ... just 2 tyres on the right side ... I need to find me some speed soon ... moving down the leaderboard every day ! Will put in a good session tonight though, and will try and make up some time. Maybe 2-3 sec. at T6 would be cool

T1--29.708
T2--1'02.371
T3--1'28.758
T4--1'50.979
T5--2'18.839
T6--2'47.547

If i can take 2 seconds off this time i'll be happy. I lose a lot of time in those high speed corners at the end of the lap.

What are your current Ts? Kragbees?

T1 : 0'30.476
T2 : 1'03.293
T3 : 1'29.626
T4 : 1'51.676
T5 : 2'19.082
T6 : 2'48.661

About 1sec better than you at T6, so you're almost there ! You've been making good progress so far !

I will definitely try to improve, as I did have a few problems on the last section after T6, taking to much care with the chicanes at the end.

I'm golding it though with these times ...

Thanks KB, most of my progression is owed to you though. Before I asked for your advice on the kink before indianapolis yesterday I was in the 26s. On my latest best lap I got through Indianapolis in 3rd. I've nearly cut 10 seconds off that time.
Here are my latest Ts:
T1: 30.666
T2: 1'03.991
T3: 1'30.988
T4: 1'52.849
T5: 2'20.594
T6: 2'49.275
I think I could still get about a second off their but that's about it.
You're still beating me lol garrrrrrrr!!!
Is driving with a DFP easier? because i'm currently saving up for a DF wheel.

lol haha, glad I could help you out dude ! Just because you like Honda's I'll help you out where I can hehe ... We need to get you up to the podium !

I won't say that the DFP is easier to use/drive with than the DS2, I actually think this week that the DS2 should be a little easier ... you won't believe what the wheel does down the straights ! Shakes like in a real car when your wheel balancing was last checked 10 years ago ! But too much fun with the DFP to try the DS2 ! One takes a while to get used to the wheel, but it just feels better and more realistic with it than with the DS2. I'd say it's harder to drive with a wheel, you need to be more precise with your lines, but you have much more throttle control though.

But go for it dude, I reckon it's worth the bucks for the DFP, cause you can play PC games with it too ... and obviously lots of other PS2 games.

Hmm...debatable. I think the DS2 has a slight advantage in many circumstances just because the style required is very different and certain subtleties of the DFP are not an issue, but I much prefer the DFP on pure enjoyment factor (I played all previous GT titles with the DS/DS2).

Generally I'd say it's harder, but once you get used to it you'll never look back 👍
