GT4 WRS Week 83: "Thousandths at Tsukuba"

T1:26.070
T2:49.521
Just what I came up with in the past 15 minutes or so, but that puts me first in my division! But there's only two people in my division, but I'll get better!

Ahh posting this reminds me of a classic simpsons episode. Plus it comes with a free (cursed) Frogurt!

Well... You guys are somewhat "new" to the WRS. You just happened to come in at a time where this is what we're doing right now. Next week we'll have some sticky. Look at the past weeks and you'll see that we recently did a muscle car race that covered pretty much every muscle car out there. You'll also see that we do race race cars as well. Just wait for next week! 👍

Yeah, my first week was a super-sticky, super-tough Week 66 - Toyota GT-One Racecar. The next was a rally-week on a track that took ages. The next was highly-overpowered V6 roadcars. Then a week in an understeering racecar. So much variety

Well, I can certainly see the point in it! It's fun to race around in something that's not always meant to be raced around in. I drive a Volvo, I love to drive it aggresively, I'd love to autocross it, I'd love to turn it into a race car. It's fun! Using street cars can bring us the fun of driving our own car around a track, as opposed to racing around some multi million dollar car that we'd never have a chance to drive in real life. Granted, that's what makes using those cars fun as well! There'll be a time, there'll be a time. Just patience. I must say that I do enjoy the street cars as well though!

Wait 'till I get my licence, with that Greg-style Peugeot 306 1.4l Twin-Turbo W16. Sedan.

I agree with C-H-A-R-G-E-R as well, for times to times to try some stock cars, that would be ok... but for racing there is cars that fits better that porpouses, I can't understand why so much people even care to try to race with non race cars...

Why race cars are use in real races?
What is suppose to do with stock cars? Shopping... go from Point A to point B, not really racing! I can't understand the logic of trying to call a race using stock cars, sorry!

I'm agree with Charger!!!So many cars and we drive MINI!!! It's isn't racing!!!!:grumpy:

Wait 'till Darren sees this. If you don't get 3 links pointing to different series done with usually-slow/everyday cars, I'll give him a negative *tick*.

EDIT: MINICOOPER:

Seller: "The Frogurt is also cursed"
Homer: ""That's bad"
S: "But you get your free choice of toppings!"
H: "That's good"
S: "The toppings contain Potassium Benzoate" (Thanks MINICOOPER)
H: "Huh?"
S: "That's bad"

And to finish this mega-post, could anyone help a bit with the hairpins? I can't get the last one sorted. For the first, I go from the outside gradually inside, still full-throttle, and when I get to the most inside, I brake to ~60-63KM/h, and accellerate while gradually increasing the radius of my turn - I've seen 0'25s that way! For the second, I used to have a line, but I can't repeat it anymore. The last hairpin still gets me. Do you brake early and go around the rumblies, brake late and turn on the left, to create a longer straight, or do you brake into the corner? Same with the second one.

Ahh, yeah. I can't quite remember but I think it was like potassium benzoate or something, that was a great Treehouse of Horror.

Potassium Benzoate. Thanks, that's the one! I'll give you a free Frogurt and a *tick*, I've been trying to find that name forever.

I personally love the slower cars. But it wasn't more than two weeks ago you guys had like a AWD Audi Le Mans with Nitrous running around.

And in GT Mode, I generally don't bother with races that require purpose built race cars and such. They make going fast too easy I feel. You learn so much more driving a slow car around (well, within reason... kei cars are about where I cut it normally)

I mean, do any of you guys that are complaining about these "slow" cars actually drive in real life? And enjoy it?

First session splits
26.351
49.642

Is any one elso not shifting into 3rd right after T1? Or am I just coming out of the first turn too slow?

I'm not sure what the title means (if it's that the racers will be within thousandths of each other, that's really true), but isn't thousanths like .001, or 1/1000?
T1:25.967
T2:49.205
That was one good lap there, having fun with this though!

Having fun - I've seen 0'49.5s, but those were before I found the better line through the last hairpin...

MK1
Am I allowed to change my time? Just I've gone & set a better lap but I've already PM'd MisterWeary like I do every time I do a lap but I usually only try once.
Sorry man, don't think that's allowed, but you should try more than once before submitting in the first place! I usually try many times before I even post my splits, and then race quite a bit more until I pass my other time. I just keep trying to get better and better until I can't anymore, or at least not by enough to be worth racing so much longer.

Woops, I usually submit my first time as long as it looks clean but this week I've learned that's probably not a good idea :(

@ the haters: There is no need to express your distaste towards a race. Simply don't race. I come up with races based on what's popular in the Suggestions Thread and what we haven't done in the comp for a while. So if you want change, instigate it by posting in the Suggestions Thread 👍

@MK1: Normally we look to have one submission per racer, but this is mainly because the submissions tend to come in like a flood on the last day and keeping the results correct is a fiddly process, however, since it's still very early in the week I don't mind if you'd like to keep racing for a bit (let's not make it a habit though :sly:)

@Bigracer: I think "thousandths" is right? Checked it at Dictionary.com?

Board Updated

Thanks :D I'll remember not to in the future.

Here's the splits for my fast lap...

T1: 0'26.069
T2: 0'49.608

I'm getting better at this :D

@Bigracer: I think "thousandths" is right? Checked it at Dictionary.com?
oh you are probably right. i confused it with thousands but off course you don't mean 1000's but 1/1000's.
my mistake

I just managed a 0'25.703 T1 but it was ruined by a 0'50.119 T2 :(

& the good news is, I just set another personal record :D

T1: 0'26.009
T2: 0'49.504

Colby's right, this is addictive!

& the other good news is that I'm getting a AR Max tomorrow to transfer my replays :D

after about 10 more laps i got below the 50' mark:

26.403 - 49.890

and persuing a certain barrier ...
great driving this week!

The effects of a different car on a different track is amazing. On week 81 I was last by a long way, this week I found that relatively easy compared to week 81.

Looks like a fun race... If I find the time I will surely get in on the fun.
However, I must say, I'm disappointed with the fact that TCS is not an option in this for all of us NTSC'ers.

Does the PAL version force racers to use TCS?
TCS is a huge disadvantage in FF (since turning and accelerating at the same time will almost always force TCS into action). :ouch:

Yeah it's always on as far as I know. Both TCS and ASM I think. It's the pain in the ass.

I had a shocking thought about how slow this car is, then realised it's got more HP then mine....

I'm with Cowboy Kent on this one, the TCS is a killer... but we will manage!!

I'll try this when I have some time tomorrow, at work tonight and busy after that.

Ive updated the board but I can't change it to say DF I'm afraid Gt3Emperor. It takes an integer value representing what type of controller you use where 1=DFP, 2=DS2 and 9=? I could put it as a question mark but I thought DFP would do. If not let me know 👍

Oh man, this is addictive !
Last week I had problems just passing this mission. Now I'm getting better with every run. I can do the first sector under 26 pretty much every time now.
I will update my times as soon as I pass Mr. Minicooper120.

I last raced this in April 2005 and it was a tricky bugger back then! .. and it still is now  best save so far has 25.848 / 48.912 ... That tight hairpin after T2 and the last bend are not nice to me at all :ouch:

will try some more soon :dopey:
