can someone please tell me which A-spec races have been removed? I don't mean the seasonals, I mean the actual A-spec you can play without being online :)

Why, I'm just saying that I'm disappointed by the chase camera view, now every little impact moves the camera like it is on the car :( I got to get used to the hood camera, seems most suitable for me. But everything else is a great addition and there is no need for all the moaning we have around here. Such great things by PD are getting ruined, according to some, by some minor details :)

I was talking about the photo.

None.

thank you. I thought the way 'A-spec' had been thrown about, we lost some of those instead of just seasonals :)

No, seasonals pay out better and offer better driving from the AI, so most people that play offline liked to play them instead of A-Spec, but I guess they're screwed now.

While I wasn't "disappointed", I was kind of let down that the very annoying FC transmission whine is still there and loud as before.

I didn't get my hopes up, but I did at the same time.

Everything else is nice. I like the GT 86.

What was the reason for removing Seasonals? Is the plan to issue new Seasonals or more substantial offline content?

Or is PD really trying that hard to herd people toward online races? I don't think a Call of Duty-type model focused on multiplayer online play works for a game where its so easy for one or two people to ruin the online experience...

Haven't thoroughly tested it yet but I don't think I'm going to like the new tire wear model. I do believe something needed to be done but in my opinion I think they've gone too far now in tire wear for the softer compounds, making them almost useless for anything but a very short sprint or a couple of hotlaps, with tire wear on of course. For some reason they also don't heat up like they used to. Tried only a couple of 550 pp cars but they never did get to full temperature. I could be wrong but if the tires are not lasting as long doesn't that mean they are running hotter and heat up faster, not the opposite?

Right now I have to express extreme disappointment in the current tyre wear system. I'll try to avoid cusswords as well as I can, because seriously, something went wrong there. I'm fully alright with the way the soft tyres go out in just a couple of laps. But then, when I tried to run with hard tyres instead, they would also wear out a lot faster than before! This is seriously pathetic, because things went from slightly arcade-ish to completely unrealistic. In real life, you wouldn't need to pit every 10 laps in Autumn Ring while driving with a hard compound, right? Well, in this game, it just appears that's what is going to happen. They went too far in tyre wear programming, and made a huge error which needs to be corrected.

I was hoping after the patch I could get the kart spaces back. Had to do a full reinstall, since then I can race Spa offline, but neither of the kart spaces.

Go to the downloads screen and see if it'll let you download the track pack again. It let me do that, but now I have found out I have to stay online to have the tracks. I already have a thread about it here:

What it is, is they fixed a glitch. Tire wear is now exactly like it was supposed to be, and they wrapped it up as a Christmas "present".
Racing hard tires have never lasted long enough in GT games. But rather then make hards and mediums last longer, they just fixed the glitch so old people forgot about it, and reverted soft and medium tires to their old "several laps" wear rate.
Not new or a gift at all imo, just PD "fixing" what has been broken since forever. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Top Gear guys drove 3 hour stints on 1 set of tires. Slicks. I would like those real world tires available in GT5, but I guess it all comes down to a decade old tire model that PD is still using. :(

Why not tell the whole story? For example that Jeremy tore through the tyres on his (last) stint because he could simply not restrain himself from going flat out?

However if you're into some actual facts and not some nonsense from an entertainment TV programme I encourage you to listen to the 24 hours Nürburgring coverage by Radio Le Mans (available through iTunes) and pay close attention what some actual (gentleman) drivers have to say on tyre preservation and endurance race strategies.

And, as a matter of fact, I thought the GT4 tyre modell being much more 'fun' than GT5 pre 2.02 because it was way easier to tear through the rubber and the trade-offs between compounds were much more noticeable. Screw real life in that respect, it's more fun to me to have a very noticeable trade off and racing tyres are so overused on top of that. Ever wondered why Kaz' N24 GT-R, the very same he used to practice in GT5, comes on SS? That car is meant a true to life replica of the car he drove in the actual race earlier this year.

I Hate what they have done with the outside of the car while driving the whole screen moves and its realy irritating, another thing is without the DLC You cant go into an online lobby and drive on spa -.-

Agreed. Gran Turismo 3 and GTPSP had a better camera view then GT5. When you make a left or a right in those games, the camera starts to show a bit of the sides of the car.

Why can't GT5 have a camera view like the one GT3 has?

I feel your pain the only thing that I really like is that I can actually buy my DLC cars from the dealership, I hate the Chase cam most of all, makes me a bit sick

I think the same about the chase cam...no way to turn it off ?:ill:

Is true, isn't it?

I asked a valid question and got a smart aleck answer. It's immature. Calling someone a fanboy might be true, but doesn't make it acceptable, right?

That said, has PD said anything about whether they want to revamp the Seasonals or what?

To all of the people being massive hypocrites and entering this thread just to complain about its existence, explain to me how removing a good amount of the single player events in a game whose most frequent complaint is lack of events (including the only events offline where you can use two of the cars in the game) is a good thing.

Don't be a smartass and look up "Seasonal" in the dictionary. Don't throw out facile nonsense along the lines of "well, just play online then." Don't talk about how it was a "bonus" for PD to actually leave something that made the game better in the game, because that was a dumb excuse the last three times people have used it to defend PD making changes to the game that did nothing but make it worse for some people. Don't say "just wait until more Seasonals show up." Don't say "look at all the other stuff PD did."

Explain to me, in simple terms, why people should be happy that there are now considerably less things to do in Single Player for this game.

You never seem to weigh up the good against the bad, its always one bad thing is worse than 100 new things

Any who, the only reason that i can think of as to why they would delete so many seasonals is because they may have been taking up too much space on the servers and possibly creating server issues by taking up too much space; and adding more would just make the problem worse.

That's the only reason I can come up with why they would've gotten rid of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not particularly happy they got rid of them, but I had done the majority of them already & mostly play online, so I'm not finding it as bad as someone who exclusively plays offline.

Just my two cents.

I'm disappointed with this update because of all these people being pestered about it. It's driving me nuts, and away from playing GT5 just from the thought of it.

There are quite a couple of things that bug me, within the new update. The revised chase cam churns my stomach the wrong way; they could have, at least, gave you the option to toggle "Camera Bobbing". Usually, I drive in chase cam around tracks like the Top Gear Test Track so I can get a good line, but this just makes me feel all woozy inside. I am, seriously, never going to drive in chase camera again until they get this all figured out, not muffing up during the last minutes until the holiday season (where in the world does this sound all familiar to?)

Sure, everybody is complaining about the seasonals being all torn up, but I think PD's compensation for such a "catastrophe" is awarding you with level tickets for completing them. This gives collectors in the marketplace another thing to offer up. That's the only use I can see in them (I send all of my level tickets to my alt. account, and then send them back to my primary if I want a specific car around; I don't hoard 0/0/0 cars for trade like most people do (just from an objective point-of-view)).

The newest DLC is teasing (the majority of) everybody in the Dealerships, and even this is sparking up high-octane flame wars. I don't appreciate seeing this taking place; it's ridiculous, nonsense, and it's just a flipping five cars that you cannot go around showing off to everyone who hasn't purchased them yet.

Seems to me that this update has caused more outrage than Spec II. Absolutely amazing... :grumpy:

Kinda hard to talk about anything else when this is a somewhat divisive issue but most only want to hear unanimous praise.

I like this update. I'd say it was probably one of the best ones the game has ever had, and I don't even consider the Seasonal screwup to be related to the update itself because normally Seasonals and game updates are separate anyway. But this thing with the Seasonals is still clearly the main sticking point with it, I happen to agree with it because the reasoning given for why it is a problem makes perfect sense (and PD gave no explanation for why they did it); and many people seem to want to act like they are in the right for not having a problem with it but very few are actually bothering to give reasons why that premise should be accepted.

all seasonals, special events and time and drift trials (without new records) should be available at all times.

removing them is just removing content from the game for no reason.

That's not true, Seasonal Events = online gaming, when you use their Network and their Servers, you agree to everything on them, they can remove or add whatever content they want, deal with it! :sly:

Gt5 fanboys say forza is crap, yet if the sound of forza was in gt5, they would be wetting themselves...
Or holding our fingers in our ears. Which during a race would be fun to watch. :sly:

I know the Forza 4 fans keep saying this, but I can't hear the tires in F4 until they scream because even the sound of 4 cylinder stock hatchbacks is like a V8 with a racing muffler. I think this is one of those areas where it's fine for both series to have their own style, if you could call it that, and each side can complain about the others' goodies, like the Livery Editor.

This is why gt5's sound is such a dissapointment to me....

If that's awesome sauce to you, you must hate every racing game, because you may never hear anything like that in one.

I have a valid reason to complain.

They have ruined the only camera angle that I could use without getting motion sickness after an hour of play.
PD does some baffling things in this game, I have to say. People complained about camera shake in cockpit cam, and I scoffed until I found a car with disorienting camera shake. I haven't tried the chase view yet, but I have a feeling it's going to be similar. And I've always dreaded an endurance race because of the excessive tire wear.

Tire wear aside, I really hope that PD gives us more control over the game come next update, though it might take a Spec III on that. Give us individual sliders to adjust the elements of racing sounds such as exhaust volume, wind, tires, etc, so we can balance them as we want. Allow us to adjust EVERY driver view as we want as far as position, aim, sway amount/fixed, vibration amount, and even delete views we don't use. I'm not sure what the deal is with the Online Seasonals, if it's an issue with server space or what, but it would be nice if they'd give us them as updates on our PS3 harddrives, so there would be no problem. If they aren't going to give us more A-Spec Events or Manufacturer Cup races as in GT4, give us an Event Generator like we had in GT2 but better, so we can make any race or championship series we want, with the restrictions we want and appropriate prizes, on or offline.

I know there is a lot of needless, useless complaining on the boards, but some of this criticism needs to be read by Kaz and the team so they know what kind of GT games to make, not just for improvements to GT5. Overall, I like this update and can hardly wait for the DLC, but some of the choices PD makes are just baffling. I think tfed says it best:

PD likes to annoy then bring joy 2 fold.
