Everyone from PD and Sony is very quiet about this issue. I have a feeling there is a much more serious problem here. It is easy to blame hackers and technical difficulties... and I really hope that it is what is actually happening.

If it were a serious problem then they wouldn't have said that it would still come out this year. The problem is small enough that they feel they can get everything sorted out and have the game in stores before Christmas.

They never said before the end of the year unless I missed something.

I see this way... Sony missed their doctor's appointment by a few days, the the doc should be able to give them a new appointment date for copying and distribution right... from that they can give us a new date. The fact that they're not sure is what worries me.

i don't see why people are so angry at PD and sony. if it weren't for the hackers, then sony wouldn't have had to upgrade the firmware and if they didn't upgrade the firmware, PD wouldn't have had to reconfigure the code to support firmware 3.50. it'll only be about a three week delay. 30th november is my bet.

it is a worry but the way i see it is that even they didn't see it coming. they can't give a actual release date yet because they don't know when their next window of opportunity will be open.

Question, why does the Official Gran Turismo site for the UK, maybe others too, still have the release date as the 3rd November?

It's the same with Sweden. And that is as usual, cause smaller countries always comes last. They will change it for UK and Sweden to, but probably not in the nearest future...

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Oh you are such a "concerned supporter".
:dopey:

There is being a loyal GT5 supporter and there is being blinded by Sony/PD and ones admiration for GT5. Some people like yourself Scope are in the latter category and will take GT5`s further delay faithfully on the chin with a smile and say thats ok i`ll just place my pre-order receipt for GT5 next to the my one for Duke Nukem Forever,it`s all good `cause i know they will both come when they are ready!

I think the majority of fans are sick of the wait,it really is becoming a joke now. GT5 was suspossed to be a PS3 release title. Many people in Aus dropped just over AU$1000 on a 60gb PS3 in march 2007 in anticipation of GT5,to be told it`s been held a few months. Ok no problems. Xmas `07 passes and still no GT5,we now might not get it for xmas `10. The saying "Last straw that breaks the camel's back" comes to mind here scope.

Hopefully it`s only a minor delay caused by the SDK issue, but it does beg the question of what next? :ouch:

IF this decision was made by a sony executive, and I had major stocks in sony and access to the board room, he would have soo been fired!!

My guess is that you'd never be allowed into a board room despite the amount of equity you own.

What's the expected cost/loss of releasing a game that can be easily copied? What's the cost of delaying said game in order to reduce illegal reproductions? What's the cost to the brand if pirated copies are really poor? Etc...etc...

If this is a firmware issue, you can bet the house that the losses to pirated copies will/would be greater than the losses due to a later release date. Especially if there is some gigantic DL/update that won't work with a pirated copy.

Imagine a couple hundred thousand lost sales due to pirating (think China, Russia, and other communistical places distributing copies as well as P2P). Now imagine if that pirated copy is crap/incomplete/can't be updated; PD would be taking it in both ends by way of lost sales and a reputation for releasing a poor game. Everyone loses.

"The holiday season" is what has been said. It's vague as expected, but could mean into the new year. I don;t expect that though. Based on the reports, if it's all true, I predict Dec 7th.

So in 3-4 months they will more than likely be able to copy version 3.50 anyway so the loss will still be there (Them Pirates are quicker than PD).:sly:
No I don't even know how the pirated PS3's work or ever seen one. The reason I started playing games on the PS3 was that they were too many cheaters on PC's.:yuck:

Every response they've had about the game has said that it'll be out before the end of the year. Kaz even posted a tweet about it.

I see. Everything that I had read thus far just said "Holiday Season". Which could be well into January.

This is good news at least. But I won't hold my breath after this whole episode.

I'm sure they will be promptly banned from PSN and their console blacklisted.

To alleviate your concerns just a bit, here's what Polyphony president Kazunori Yamauchi had to say on the matter at his Twitter earlier today. A follower ask that he try to get GT5 out before the end of the year. Yamauchi's response was, "I believe we won't keep you waiting until then."

And Loeb80 just posted a comment from the head of SCEE mentioning the same thing.

If it takes 3-4 months to pirates for hacking the ps3, it would do nevertheless much less harm than the possibility of day-1 hacking. In particular, we can expect most of the sales to take place in the first few months after release.

Hi george3rd93,

I edited your post here. Please remember to use complete words with punctuation when posting and to not double post, per our AUP. Thanks and welcome to the boards.

Guys really I don't know but if GT5 isn't going to be released this year I really will try to avoid GtPlanet, it is so damned time consuming! I have to make it...

I thought he was working to bring us the best racing experience.
What's he doing now GT6?

Now you are talking about something completely different. I was responding to your "I believe" answer about the release of GT5. His part is done, it's in the hands of Sony to now produce copies of the game.

Apparently, finalizing some areas of the game's more complicated systems is taking time.

Ok sounds like they are still working on it....because I came straight from this frontpage where some insider from sony said it was the hackers fault etc. Maybe sony/pd should start to talk together så they dont get caught with their pants down lying

Ofcourse one could be telling the truth...
