The fact of the matter is that it is late! And people bought things to have the setup for when the game launched. Also people had holidays for that time planed and now that is wasted as well. I for one just spent about $550 after tax on a PS3 move bundle, another move remote. Also I have a G27 for this game that was $300 before tax, and a play seat that was around $450. Luckily I have a gaming HTPC hooked up as well in the same room but it is annoying knowing that I had some gt5 planed for that day when my cousins flew across the country from Minnesota to Seattle. This launched the day after they arrived and was to be epic fun for us all but now it is not to be! Annoyed I am to say the least

This has caused a big headache for the manufacturing side, given how big this game is missing the gold date by even a week can cause a months worth of delay as slots are already taken up at this time of year for Blu-ray movies and such. So Sony had to find a 3 week slot big enough to make 7m+ copies of this and get them shipped out.
If you want to blame anyone, I would direct it at the pirates and hackers, SCE never had any real SDK restrictions before firmware 3.41 was compromised."

Hey GameStop has the release date or shipped date as 01/01/11 is that just a made up date seeing as gran turismo is saying it will be out this holiday season?

It definitely is. January 1st is a Saturday and they don't release games on that day in the US.

I'm sure Sony is going to want it to be ready to go on 23rd of November (or earlier). That means that it would be in stores for Black Friday in the US.
IF this decision was made by a sony executive, and I had major stocks in sony and access to the board room, he would have soo been fired!!
What "he" has done, has made permanent damage to sony`s playstation reputation no question. Even people who did not know what gran turismo was, are joking about it, its the worst I`ve ever seen over a game delay!
It will take alot of Kevin Butler ads to remedy this I`m afraid.
Lets hope this will blow over and that the game will be here soon!

Well, when it reaches the front page of two of norways biggest newspapers online, and the articles is written to make fun of gran turismo delays (or mentions that it is delayed AGAIN) its not that strange actually. Thank god norway is a small country though

I'm not a huge GT5 fan. Been paying attention to this game just because of the NASCAR side of it. Now us NASCAR fans have our own game coming out. NASCAR THE GAME 2011. I really feel for you hardcore GT fans. Such a long long long wait then right as its about to come out BAM delayed. Right now the real question is... when will it really come out? DEC? JAN? FEB? You never know, there gonna feed you BS while they scramble to get the game ready.

If by "permanent" you mean until next year when everyone forget about it, then you are right. Beside fansites nobody is noticing, even less pointing fingers, because at this point only fans know about the delay, the majority of people who will buy the game haven't watched the E3 trailer and weren't familiar with the Nov. 2nd release date, especially since Sony didn't advertise GT5 yet.
