no it's the second time it's delayed. the first date that was set was march 2010.

I really don't think it's ben collins, it's not like BBC have axed the idea of the stig for Top gear yet, Ben collins is just the man behind the white helmet.. the stig is simply a manufactured figure to use for lap times and various reasons, and he is easily replaced.

But you see it probably won't be the White Stig anymore and he will probably be killed off in the next season. The BBC and Top Gear need to figure out the next Stig and probably get approval to use whoever is driving for them's likeness...even if they are in a suit. Legal issues and licenses are often the cause of many hold ups.

Yes, does make some sense. But I haven't seen any changes on the way Top Gear itself (the site, at least) treats it.
The point is that are many other theories much more reasonable for the delay. I'm sorry if I said it's completely off the scale, it isn't. It's just not that feasible, IMO.

Top Gear owns the rights, PD does not which is why you might not be seeing a change.

Somehow, i'm not even that disappointed with how things turned out. I guess I somehow knew to expect something like this. A december release I can live with, but April.. geez. I keep myself sane by thinking that it's only a game (just a game, whaaa..).

The Swedish gaming mag LEVEL barely even writes anything about GT5 anymore. They had a small little square article on the bottom of almost the last page from their E3 reportage this summer.

I was expecting the game to arrive somewhere in December 2007. Doesn't mean it was delayed from then.

KY said they only missed the deadline by 3 days, they have actually only gone and missed the deadline by 3 YEARS!

I tell you no other company would give a development studio this much leash, any other game would have either been canceled or transferred over to another dev 10 times over!

Forza 3 took 2 years.
This is going on for 5 almost 6 years.

I am kind of alright with this delay because if it were to come out in Nov 2ND, It would be distracting me from college and all. If this game comes out near Christmas or so, i will be playing it because I will have 1 month and 2 weeks off from college.

Was wondering when you would use that 1:1 argument again, if they would use a 1:1 calendar or 1:1 schedule most here wouldn't need to feel disappointed or angry, it's not that they didn't have enough time already.
They screwed up, Kaz apologized for it himself, regardless of how much time they spend modelling cars and tracks ( which has nothing to do with this matter ) they simply didn't meet the deadline set a few months ago.

no i don't think that they had enough time , if i say that they had need more then 2 years for only 1 track then 5-6 years are ok

The Stig needs to stay anonymous, because Top Gear needs an objective platform upon which to test their cars. It takes the driver element out of it, which is the most subjective element of testing a car.

My theory, they'll kill the Stig, then they'll say: "The Stig is dead. Long live the Stig."

So time invested = better quality? Screw GT5 then, I'm putting all my money into Duke Nukem Forever, since it's had double the time!

You want another time comparison? People could've got their Masters in University quicker than it takes to make GT5. Heck, they would have been well on their way through law school afterwards if so desired.

You've proven on more than a few occasions you don't really understand the processes, and that you're just itching for some kind of fanboy "war". Still obvious trolling.

Y'know, I'll be the one to say it; even if this rumour of the 3 day delay on PD's end is true... it still means they were late. And that somehow, after all these years, they couldn't hit a deadline. It's crappy that it might mean a few weeks or more delay due to manufacturing schedules, but they knew that going in.

GT3/4 didnt take nearly as much time to create, obviously cost much less to build, and they were released on a console in FAR MORE homes than the PS3 is. The PS3 is in last place, the PS2 was in first, by a huge margin. This game literally has no chance at selling like GT3/4 did, naturally since there isnt nearly as many PS3 owners to buy it.

There is no way a third of all PS3 owners will buy this game, so it cannot reach 10 million. In fact the top selling PS3 game, which I believe is MGS4, only sold like 5 million copies, that's half as much as something like Halo 3, which took 3 less years to create.

Thats why im so amazed at how Sony is even allowing it to take this long and cost as much money as it has. I think its just logical to assume this will be the lowest selling GT game due to the PS3s current position in the market. I really dont get what they're trying to do here.

There is a problem with your theory. Some GT players (like myself) are waiting for gt5 to come out before getting a ps3.

Those are just temporary dates set up by gaming sites, that will change once an a official release date is issued. Some sites are just being overly cautious, probably for the better.

Based on the news and everything that's been talked about, the delay shouldn't be more than a month. The game content was complete within 3 days of the deadline, so the final production phase can't be set back too far.
