Main PSNID / ID's nationality: ChloeSMV / U.S.A.
PSNID2 (main GT account) / ID's nationality: ChloeSMVBR / Brazil
PSNID3 (secondary GT account) / ID's nationality: ChloeSMVDE / Germany
GT5 disc region: BCUS98114 / NA / NTSC
Country currently living: Brazil
Problem: Well, no DLC of any other games are tied to just one account, and by witnessing the community reports on the lock, I'm not looking forward to october 25th now for the NA's release. GT's content being tied to just one account means that I can't keep my brazilian and german accounts. I solely have these for GT purposes only, as the game itself doesn't have an option for the user to select a desired nationality within the game, regardless of the nationality of one's PSNID, which means, a PSNID of the desired nationality is needed. So, with the brazilian one, I represent my own country, to race online under my own flag, and to pay tribute to a dear idol, a country-mate of mine. The german one, for other reasons of my own. I do not use the american one for online racing, and also, I have a totally separated (american) account for DLC purchases, which means not even my main american account would be able to access the content bought with the DLC account. With any other games, this is not an issue. Since the brazilian PSNID has no access to the PS Store whatsoever, what PD is saying is "yeah, you can't represent your own country and identity anymore", and this is totally not cool for a racing game. I don't care about nationality of an ID for games like Modnation, Portal 2, or similars, but for a racing simulator, I think nationalities are a factor, as many of us love races for several reasons, and these are almost always passionately tied to idols, patriotism and other motivations. Not to mention another issue, which is forcing families to buy the content for each member. Seriously thinking to give up the Gran Turismo series altogether from here onwards. All the other mistakes PD made didn't bother me as much (or even at all), but this one now, with the DLC ? In a word ? Unacceptable. It's the last straw.

Regarding multiple accounts (a side note): Whenever one account has a suspended endurance or championship race, I have the other to join friends online. Now I'm being forced to have just the american one, 'cause of the DLC lock ? So nationality and financial factors are not the only issues for me, and I bet others feel the same, in a way or another.

Problem: Paying 12 bucks for DLC that only one person can use? Sure it's a cheaper price than most DLC, but what will my brothers do? Dish out 12 bucks as well?

No. It looks like I'll pass up on this DLC until they fix this.

Problem:
Paid SGD15.59 for the DLC at PSN-Asia only to find out that it didn't show up in my R1 copy of GT5. I had the impression that the DLC must be downloaded from the region store associated with the PSN account used in GT5 (i.e. my PSN-Asia account). That left me real mad.

By the way guys,
if I were to purchase the DLC from the US store, would it work if I boot GT5 using my Asia account? (If I were to boot using my US account, the game would start from 0%)

Problem: Bought the DLC immediately after release on the EU PSN-store thru my main-account. Got NO warning, that the DLC would be valid only for that specific account. Uses secondary accounts myself with different GT5-profile (for community-organized racing series). Are also sharing the PS3 with my wife and 2 kids, that also like to play GT5 in their own accounts, and I did expected the DLC to be active for those accounts as well. After gaining knowledge that the price of 12€ only covers ONE users access, I find the DLC is heavily overpriced and would probably not have bought in first place.

No, this dosen't work either. Been there tried that. See my post further up. Every thing leads back to starting from scratch.

Problem: Just bought the overpriced DLC from the PSN Store before logging into GT5 which gave no warning at all about the DLC being locked to 1 user account, I have several PSN accounts which I use for various games and now I find I can only access the DLC I bought and paid for on one of those accounts on the same PS3. I point blank refuse to buy this DLC again and there is no valid reason that this DLC should be any different from any other content bought from the store. People who have bought the DLC directly from the store without logging into GT5 and reading the news section first are being misled.

+1 here ...

@altivec: Maybe the DLC doesn't work because you're on North American servers, therefore the DLC is locked until October 25th?

I am not sure they are going to change it. It is same with steam on PC. You buy games on it and you can play games only on that particular account. You cannot shift your games to your another account.

However, what is really important that people know about this beforehand :nervous:

This is entirely the user's fault, DLC have always had regional locking, PD can do nothing about this, you can try and take it up with SCEA, send them a message and see what they can do.

No it's not the user's fault. If you don't get the information you need regarding the product and the purchase it is the company's fault (Sony) and you should be refunded, or the product should be replaced with the correct product. But then again, I suppose that consumer's rights are stronger in Sweden than a lot of other countries...

But yes, take it up with Sony in the region you live in, and the region you purchased the DLC from. Explain the problem with lack of information regarding the product and they probably will sort it out for you.

Problem: As of now I have not purchased the DLC, but I have already created and redeemed a USD$20 card on a new US account meant for the DLC. Simply bull and totally disappointed. Hopefully it can be fixed.

What does it have to do with US Server ?

My PSN is from: Europe
I bought the DLC from the PS Store: Europe
With my Credit Card from: Europe
For my save game attach with my account from: Europe
On my PS3 from: Europe
For my GT5 disc from: US/Canada

So all the server i have deal with were from: Europe.

The only time i might and even there am pretty sure i don't use US Server is when i actually RACE online.

GTPlanet User ID: Hun200kmh
PSN User ID: GTP_Hun
PSN Origin: Europe, Portugal
GT5 disc region: Europe

Problem:

1) GTP_Hun is not my main account. It is my gaming subaccount.

2) My main account is the only one that buys stuff from the Store and has a
credit card linked to its transactions.

3) That's the only thing that account does ... buy DLC for the other(s) to use.

4)My daughters have subaccounts of their own.

5) My son has a subaccount also. We both play GT5, he has his account and career save, I have mine.

6) I love SPA FRANCORCHAMPS and was delighted to know I was going to get it in GT5.

7) The account that is able to buy the DLC has no GT5 career. The accounts that have a GT5 career aren't able to buy the DLC.

Solution:

1) I'm not buying this DLC. And I can't even translate to words - without breaking the AUP - what I think of Sony and/or PD's decision. But it's just ... wrong, for many reasons.

2) I'll tweet about this and send that tweet to Kaz. Hope he reads it.

PS - Keeping it clean ... 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬

I'm talking North American, which Canada is a part of apparently, and the servers over there in Europe perhaps saw you have a North American version of the game, and therefore still has your DLC locked.

I'm not saying that's what happened, just a theory.

Problem: I have a sub-account, I had no idea that cash on my father's account could be used on it, having never bought DLC. I bought it on his account, using the PSN Store, and then went back to my account and, like everyone else has found out, I couldn't install it on my account. I found out after that I can buy it on my own account, but too late isn't it?

Secondly, my brother and sister also play GT5, they are only young teens. Why the hell should I pay two more lots of £9.49 for them? All they want is the cars and the Kart Track! Please excuse my annoyance in my voice.

Now the next problem is my father got me into GT in the first place, and on rare occasions he does play it! Why should HE pay another £9.49 for him to play on Spa for one or two times in his life? No way. That's a good £40 for my brother, sister, me and my dad... That's just £15 shy of the price I paid for the Collectors Edition! I dunno what else to say, because I am fuming...

And the final problem is that we are paying good money for these paints, cars etc. Why can we not tune a car and use the in game credits to buy another version of the same car? And paints are one time use only? Heck, we can get those for free! Get your act sorted with this DLC. It's hard to anger me, and this has. Not because it's a stupid implementation of a game, but because we've paid sodding good money for this, and I worked a good 30 hours overtime so I had the extra money to buy GT5, the G27 wheel and now this DLC!!

Problem: That is my main account. I have also US and UK accounts for Store purposes only and since Brazilian PSN is just begining, there aren't many content (no GT5 DLC yet) and they are still quite expensive so buying on US Store was what I was planning to do. The problem is that I never use these acc to play any games and wasting a whole year of playing just for some DLC is not going to happen. Gaming stuff here in Brazil are way overpriced and I'm not going to buy the PSN card just for a DLC that I can't even use!

Have you contacted PD/Sony yet by email or something and showed them this thread? They really need to see it.

I think there should have more posts already because this is a very serious issue which affects thousands of players and GT fans. I for one have sent a tweet to Kazonori for whatever good that will do. I suggest others do the same and the OP should link this petition to him and other PD/SONY contacts.

Has been quite a sad day for me :(

Problem: Sloppy, greedy implementation requiring us to buy more DLC if we want more paint chips, more of the DLC cars, don't like the random color given us, or have multiple PSN IDs.

Solution: Implement it like any other DLC - available across all accounts, available normally ingame so you never need to buy more DLC again.

At least at the start, I may not buy the car or paint packs because of this issue. Also, I may well start a letter-writing campaign. We're going to send e-mails to Polyphony Digital and I don't care if they don't answer them!

I don't use twitter, could someone give this link to Kaz ?

I already emailed Sony support.... it's all i could find online.
If any of you have other contact opportunity feel free to link this as much as possible so either PD or Sony fix this issue.

Posted a detailed complaint about my issue on their forums and I'm going to link them to this as well. And I'm going to give both links to Kaz on Twitter now. Going to sound quite unreasonable here but I don't care if the problem isn't "easy to fix", people have paid good money for this DLC and they are simply not getting what they paid for.

Hello Sony

Not buying the DLC at all. Seriously reconsidering spending money on ANY Sony electronics/gaming products for the foreseeable future.

I don't have to buy several copies of a game of Scrabble or Settlers so the whole family under one roof can enjoy it, so that's what I'm going to go do instead.

You know what you can do with your DLC, and I would point out that both the positive AND negative possibilities there are entirely yours to choose from.

Problem: My own brother who has his own PSN can't use the DLC when he is signed in as himself, Why should I have to buy something a second time, We got the DLC for both of us to use come on PD im not stingy or anything but why should I let him use my PSN to use the DLC ?.

We can only use each paint item once, You have to be pulling my chain, So we don't have a full car preview for each colour and once its gone we have to buy more, Way not cool.

Kart track restricted to Karts ? Why is that pray do tell ?

Oh and one more thing the price is extortionate.
