Indeed, it has the number on the side and a rear wing. That leads me to beleve it is actually some type of cup car. But the only Mini race car that i can think of that could compete with these cars is this one...

Hmmm.. could it be that crazy mini with the 3.2l inline six from M Coupe/M3? I remember seeing those in some endurance race series..
This would be the Mini that raced in the BelCar series.

I don't think they're a match though, but it could be a PD made LM edition based on the BelCar Mini's. Otherwise, it's maybe an unofficial version of the JCW cup cars that PD have snook into the game by making them a little different and not calling them JCW Mini Challenge cars.

Sony presscenter. I "work" for psinsider.com, thats why i also always link to them when i post these pics (i hope its okay that i do this, it isnt meant to be advertisement).

Sony Presscenter doesn't have all pics released @ gran-turismo.com? There's 1 or 2 pics missing from batch 1 and 2.

With Photoshop, I zoomed in on the Mini en then sharpened the image a bit. You can clearly see the foglights, a yellow sticker on the bonnet and side, a single stripe on the roof and a rear spoiler:

I couldn't make the image quality any better than this.

The front-right tire of the abu-dhabi ford looks all sorts of out of shape:odd: While the angle of the tire is away from you the yellow lettering on the sidewall also seems strangely twisted. Hmm, a glitch in pic or another deformation clue...

For a second there I thought I was looking at some sort of mutilated Fiat 500.

But then I realized I was looking at a pic that had been taken either between frames (thought it might have been the blur from GT5P, but the speedo and WRC and other details seem to infer that it's just between frames).

Also, guys, hate to burst your bubble, but MAYBE that mini is like the VW Lupo cup cars with basic liveries and a bit of performance (though not much. In fact, none whatsoever).

Maybe there was a quick steering correction as the pic was taken causing a blur, like when tapping the D pad or quick stick movement for steering.

Is it just me or do most of the race cars not seem shiney like the production cars? Might just be the lighting though..

No, its not just you, i think is because the production cars have plain metallic paint and the race cars have a base non metallic paint and the vinyls/decals thats are plastic made.

Sorry my english.

It's not, at least not an offical challenge car. The front ends and rear wings don't match.

It' just the perspective, the tyre is modelled in 3d and it's angled slightly away from the camera. It loos fine, just like it should.

All that's needed on the lighting front is a really dark course, even if Tokyo R246 can be raced late in the evening. Then, we can really see how lighting really plays a role in GT5.

Metallic paint doesn't make make a car "shine"..it just adds sparkles...
I think its just that the overall quality of racecar paint is minimall and as thin as can be for weight loss...for production cars paint is a much more important issue than for racecars...👍

spyrrari.

Well, if something sparkles, it must be because it is reflecting light back at you. Reflected light is what gives a surface its shine. Shine can be measured, usually in % gloss, where 100% is mirror finish. Therefore, metallic paint does make a car shine - just not uniformly.

Anyway, on topic, that Toyota is looking awesome!
