If i do watch a review, which is unlikely, the only one i'll pay any attention to is over at insidesim. Some of you guys may not like them, but i've always thought they do a great job of being thorough and subjective.

Indeed, I've watched enough of their reviews to know where they stand on certain aspects; what they tend to be in favour of, etc. I'd probably still try to avoid review details, though, at least until I've played the game; I'd be more interested in scores initially, just to gauge the general reaction. :)

Anyone got an idea when the game is due to go Gold? Is it 2-3 weeks before release date? Also how many will ship in first week...2 or 3 million copies?!?

It s Gran Turismo. Not a game for me. ITs passion,
Leave reviewers to themself
Sorry for saying this, but I think you should get out more.

Don't get me wrong. I love GT, but I'd never go so far to say it's a passion. Maybe that's just me though, lol.

I don't know when a game goes gold.
It will probably sell as much as Halo:Reach or Halo 3 did 24 hours after release.

"You can't spell ignorant without IGN".

I don't trust reviewers anymore. I trust myself. That's why i will get Big Rigs Over The Road Racing soon...

There's a site that make trustable reviews (PSXExtreme). I wonder if gtplnet will make a review of GT5!

Am with you on that one. many reviewers have been blinded by the storm of FPS this generation that they don't even realize that the racing games genre exists anymore. Its really sad. i personally will like to see EDGE's score on GT5 (my guess a 7.5)

I don't thrust game reviews either, the big companies buy their good scores anyway. Before I buy a game, I usually lurk trough the Forums. I read the bug threads and look how the general mood of the community is. The buyer-reviews on amazon and the other online-shops can be very informative as well. About Inside Sim Racing, I really don't like the reviewers/presenters and their snobbish "We can hold a virtual car on a virtual track, therefore we must be the greatest!" -attitude.

Aside from forza, I played every big simulation and semi-simulation game in the last years and I think Prologue can hold up pretty well. I expect GT5 as a Prologue with a bit more content and think it will deliver.

Talking about reviews I have had an idea, I plan to start a thread on the first of november these thread will be called the real gamers GT5 review thread or something like that.

When I set up I will allow people to make ONE post after the game has been released with thier review and there score out of 100 bottom I will be willing to keep the first page up to date with the average review score.

I think it would be a good idea to do a thread like this as when you type in google GT5 review, our thread will come up and people who are considering buying the game will be able to hear the reviews of real people who play this game and our thread will serve as a home of our reviews were we can read what GTP users think rather than IGN or some RPG or FPS nerd's cutting review.

As long as you guys think this is a good idea I will set up the thread on the 1st of november.

I see what yo mean, it could get difficult to monitor, shame though if everyone acted responsibly it would work and it would help keep the threads down as it would stop there being hundreds of review threads. I might not do it then, I will think it over.

I think insidesimracing will give it some good reviews no doubt.

Darin, one of the hosts said it´s about 75% in terms of physics compared to Iracing and that was way better then i thought to be honest. Anyone who´s played Iracing knows that it´s extremely good in terms of physics.

I can´t wait for this game to come out. My real life will end and my new GT life will emerge on the third of november :D

I'm just interested in the hard cold data.
How many and what tracks are there, variations, cars, wheel support, game modes, etc.

I don't know about anybody else but there's going to be a plethora of new threads coming post-release. At the moment the Gran Turismo 5 folder is chockablock with threads and I guess that all the relevant post-release will get mixed in with the rest.

I feel that it's going to get a bit messy.

Don't suppose it would be a good idea to archive pre-release threads in to another folder so we can all concentrate on relevant post-release topics.

ISR's review is the only one i'm interested in seeing. I'm buying GT5 no matter what but i'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in what they think of it.

I'll buy my game, play it for some time, and then maybe read some reviews to see haw acurate they are from my point of view. IMO GT5 should get the right score for the megaton of content it has, all lower than 9.5 is a bad joke( from what i seen and played).

I'm in gaming since c64 and newest PD game looks in my eyes like the best racing game of all time, and for 1000000% of this generation of consoles.

As for ISR im sure they will gave it more than 90%

I'd love to do that, and will try very hard to, but three or four days of temptation may prove too much!

I like the idea of the user-reviews. We're a special bunch here ( :dopey:) so, our points of view may actually have some depth!
I may even be tempted to write my own; whether I post it is another matter...

I tend to agree with this. By all means have a GTPlanet member review thread but I don't think it needs to be a strict format.

Thats the best idea, just start a thread so reviews and opions about the game and let it take its own course.

I think this whole section will be more or less a complete review with all aspects fully analyzed separately and having all sorts of opinions attached to it over a long period, something one review could never do.
The only thing a review section might offer additionally is seeing the first general impressions of many members here ( with multiple levels of bias no doubt ) or in the long run offer more in-depth impressions gathered over a long period of playing GT5 as the first impressions ( although a cherished experience ) aren't very accurate as most will no doubt be flabbergasted by the content on offer.

Makes us sound a bit like cold calculating machines doesn't it? Although that might be quite apt to describe myself I perhaps should've added it might actually be enjoyable ( and not the only thing this forum is reduced to ).
Ouch, H-U-M-A-N-S and their feelings eh? ;)
