Just played the demo @ Gamestop and it doesn't seem like you could control the camera inside or outside the car....bummer.
With that being said, I absolutely hate the driving position....nobody drives that close to the steering wheel unless you are an 80 year old woman.
Also, I wasn't floored by the graphics. Everything we've seen online so far looks incredible, almost next gen. Well the reality of it is PS3 is ancient hardware and when something is too good to be true, it usually is. I'm sure photomode and replay use a different render setting, but the actual in-game graphics were average at best. As far as the modeling goes, everything seemed spot on, but the lack of AA and horrid shadows (like seriously....HORRID) really took this game a couple notches back. During replay, the shadows on the cars looked so bad I had to skip it...they were blocky and just didn't flow at all.
As far as interior views go, NFS:Shift has this game beat in terms of texture work and viewing angle....so if you've played Shift you won't be that floored by GT5's interior. Everything seems relatively flat or untextured. The camera is fixed so can't even look around...which I don't get.
But really, the main thing I didn't like was the sense of speed. Now I know GT was never known for this but c'mon...this is 2010. 90MPH in a car is VERY fast...130MPH is blistering fast....and 160 is downright scary. There is no reason 35mph should feel EXACTLY like 90MPH. Honestly, I had to look down at my speedo just to see how fast I was going because after 40mph, everything felt the same. From the video's i've seen on this game, it looked like they fixed this issue but after playing it I was extremely disappointed. Say what you want about NFS:Shift, but that game actually gets your blood pumping during a heated race, and thats how a racing game should be. Cars are f'n scary to drive at high speeds...Arcade or sim, 160mph should scare you ****less.
However, the physics were great and the cars handling were pretty accurate.
