For me it gives me more time to save up money for the CE version :D

Everybody wins! :D

Out of curiosity, how do you guys feel about the delay a day later? I know it's not much time, but it's some time to think about the delay.

I honestly feel better about it, still in disbelief but the bright side is that it gives those with tight budgets some more time to save up money to get not only the game itself and a wheel, but perhaps a stand, new tv, speakers etc. And besides, it is just a game, no need to order a noose over a delay.

So whats the big deal?

How can some say "im cancelling my pre-order" without knowing the reason behind the delay? :/

like i said: people these days are Pathetic! 👎

also read:

""Of course, three days could be just enough to build in – say - a newer firmware requirement…""

Also myabe it means development time has increased by 3 days to add the Jailbreak block aka FW 3.50.

Well, it's not like complainers don't have good reason to. We have seen it before, frustration is the likely reaction. The difference this time is that they came clean right away, best thing they could have done.

So what's happening to the production capacity that would have been used for GT5 over the next few weeks?

Good question, I am sure that the companies that burn the discs are busy catching up on stuff they didn't get to burn, movies and such or they use the downtime for testing of the equipment or doing routine maintenence.

So they missed the window by 3 days which ofcourse logically means the game will arrive roughly a month later according to Sony......
Thank God they didn't miss the window by roughly a month if that same logic is applied ( not meant seriously, just being cynical ).
If I wasn't looking forward to it so much ( and I know it's just a videogame ) it would actually be, indeed it is actually, a tragicomedy worth a sketch in a poorly written satire.
This is one tradition we can do without, 6 years in the making and then 3 days too late, if you're reading this Famine I'll have a suggestion for a gift to bring Kaz the next time you may have an opportunity to interview him.
Instead of Aston Martin One-77 related paraphernalia a simple, clearly written and logically designed Japanese calendar might be more appropriate.

When they say "3 days late" does that mean before it's sent off to be made? Or the 8th of November??? Hopefully Sony realise what people want and get this god dam game out before December.

I suppose they could still be banging the discs out, but delaying the final release until they are able to get stocks to the level they want.

With software piracy an issue at the moment, I don't suppose they want stock shortages?

Sony would have given PD a deadline to deliver the "gold" disk (final version 1.0 for production), PD missed the deadline by 3 days (apparently). This might mean Sony need to delay the release to make sure adequate quantities reach stores in time. Although now if they need to delay for that they could use the excuse/opportunity to choose a new strategic time now they have much more knowledge of release schedules of other titles since Nov 2nd was originally slated at E3.

Keep in mind this is all pure speculation.

It means 3 days later for PD to sign it off. The rest of the delay would appear to be a Sony issue, either they're having production/distribution problems or they're trying to find a suitable slot to release it so it's not at the same time as something else.

Sony have a very busy production line , I will give you an example of how it could have gone

PD probebly had the line for 5 days to make all the disks need so now they only have 2 days as they were 3 days late this means that they are short 2 days but as sony's factory is busy and the nearist gap for PD to use it is in two or so weeks time, so PD won't have enough stock untill they get the rest of the disks in the new slot.

Hopefully you understand?

I understand..but Im still dissapointed.Maybe Topgear and Kaz can alleviate our dissapointment.I think we should all get given to drive Kaz's GT40 around the Top Gear Test track :)

That's probably basically what happened I guess and before someone mentions, 'can't they make an exception for GT5 and change the overall schedule because this game is so important for Sony?', this is obviously impossible as it would delay other games not responsible and cause all sorts of legal problems and a bad reputation for Sony.
Whether they actually changed their marketing strategy 'forced' by this delay ofcourse remains an unknown.

Oh, and ofcourse this is all to blame on Ben Collins.:D
