I'm not saying it's not drivable. But when I play a sim, I'm looking for realistic input. I can't stand playing GT with a pad, even though I know I can still probably get 100% using one (I beat GT1-3 and GTPSP without a wheel). I'm not against Tourist Trophy or other bike games (I bought TT), I'm just saying it's too bad we'll never be able to simulate bike input as much as we can for cars in out living room.

it is a large pain. i drive a motorcycle daily. i think because of this i just can never get into bike racing games. its just not the same and its awkward for me to control ( i have never played one till the new consoles, so i didnt learn it as a young lad on anything prior)

I prefer the Dualshock on every game I've ever played.

Wheels and other devices add no realism to me.

Problems with wheels for me:
  • If in cockpit view you see 2 steering wheels.
  • If in hood view the cockpit is central, not LHD/RHD. (Mclaren F1/Go-karts not included.)
  • In chase cam there is no point in a wheel.
  • The pedals on console wheels are incorrectly mounted, unless you void your warranty by modding them.

I know it sounds silly, but If I'm going to spend £200 on an accessory for my games console I want it to deliver, so far nothing I have tried has impressed me.

*Not all cars have cockpits, therefore I prefer to drive in Chase cam. I like to see the car I'm driving. If all cars had cockpits I would drive in cockpit view.

You're missing the point of using a wheel. It's how it makes the car feel in your hands. It adds tons of realism to a driving in my opinion.

Also, you don't need to spend £200. You can pick up the DFGT for quite cheap now. That wheel has changed driving games for me.

Never say never, its always possible for a device which is simply the handlebars of a motorcycle mounted on a solid object. These could allow steering/leaning/throttle/brakes/clutch and loads of programmable buttons in the center. (A pedal could be used for the rear brake.)

Totally possible, I have not used the DFGT yet but the G25 and G27 didn't really impress me, though there is no doubt when the G27 eventually comes down to around £120 I'll get one... I just prefer my DS3 for now :)

You're really missing out on the experience. You sure you tryed a high end wheel? It's really very realistic, but you need to give yourself the time to adapt.

I don't even now where my controller is, because I never use it. I don't play other games then racing games though.

Ow, this reminds me that I need to get a PSeye.

To be honest, I also feel more comfortable using my DualShock than my DFGT. I went through GT1-4 with it, so I guess it's for sentimental reasons. One thing I won't deny...the DFGT/G27 adds much more realism and connection between you and the car. And no matter how clean you are with a Dualshock, you can always achieve a cleaner lap with a wheel.

It's that Force Feedback! 👍

For sure it has been though of :) I'm not against it, but not for GT5!! Do whatever you want with the next one..
Just a quick question, were these shots released before or after Tourist Trophy?

If they were released before it's perfectly normal.

After. They were released close to the GTHD release. PD released those images to see what the reaction would be towards them. Generally, it was pretty negative to have cars and bikes on the same track in a sim, since the only time you see that is during track days.

However, it does suggest that there might be another Tourist Trophy eventually. And it'll be a lot nicer than the first one. That's for sure.

Whilst it is possible to create a device like that it will not come close to replicating the feeling of riding a bike, it's partly explained here in my previous post but also if you lean a bike over when it's stationary it falls over but when it's moving forward it doesn't. Much like Pingwhen (who's shift button must be broke ;)) I have never enjoyed motorbike games because it's not the same as the real thing, steering a bike shaped object round a track just doesn't do it for me.

Of course it's just my opinion and I'm not inferring any one else's opinion is wrong.

I did thoroughly enjoy playing Tourist Trophy and hope they will release a long awaited ( can they do anything else? ) sequel after GT5.
I agree about both games being best kept seperate though for several reasons but your arguments ( which are no doubt accurate in its conclusions ) about riding bikes being almost or entirely impossible to replicate in a videogame are probably due to you being a biker and I'm not ( meaning I've got no frame of reference apart from riding a friends 250cc dirtbike on a privately owned piece of land at the age of 14 and scaring the living daylights out of me despite getting the hang of it quite quickly ).

I guess cars are more accurately experienced in a videogame as they're basically cocoons most of the time like the living room you're playing them in.
Riding a bike is much more of a physical experience ( in multiple ways ) which can indeed never be truthfully replicated in a videogame for obvious reasons.
But neither is a FPS ever going to replicate being in an actual war despite still being fun ( which a real war obviously isn't ).
What I liked about TT ( despite having flaws ) were the physics which required precision and adapting yourself to riding bikes instead of driving cars teached me a new set of skills and knowledge I didn't have before ( not saying by the way these are actual useful in real life ).
Still want to play TT2, knowing full well it isn't the real deal but at least the closest thing possible perhaps in the context of a videogame.:)

That's Mr. Motorsport Nut to you. Honestly, if you don't want to respect bikes then just don't say anything. TDU? Really? Classy hardvibes:dunce:
When exactly did I slight bikes?
Are you going to start another debate on the inclusion of bikes in GT5? You do it on your own, sorry.

P.S. I know someone who is going straight on my ignore list.

Kaz has said that bikes are something that they'd look into if fans wanted it. It sounds like it could be some form of DLC for the game. As far as driving against cars goes, there's nothing stopping them from limiting it to just bikes against bikes. The fact that GTHD had bikes shows that it is something that PD's interested in including in the series. They want to incorporate as many driving sports as they can into the series.

I have never seen these pics before.

If the bikes are done here, there could be a strong possibility of the bikes making an appearance in GT5.

Is kaz still playing with the cfode or is this old news???

the upcoming game.

Speaking to PSM3 (as reported by CVG), Yamauchi admitted that the game’s frame-rate was a major issue for GT5, adding: “Our engineers complain every day. 'Isn't it enough that it's in 1080p? Does it have to be 60fps too?' But I think 60fps is very important, so we're working towards perfecting that

the last sentence bothers me, is it past tense or current?
"we're working towards perfecting that"

oh dear lol

There will be strong possibility that they are not. These are the HD versons of GT4's engine.

Kaz himslef said that that Bikes wont be in GT5.

GTHD 3D car models were vastly more detailed than GT4 models, by the way.
Almost, if not, GT5 Prologue level, but without the cockpits.

AKA GT5s Standard Models. For GT HD they just took GT4 and higher resolution everything, Kaz said it himself. So GT HD runs in Photomode everytime, just like GT5 will.

At least Tourist Trophy 2 will have cockpits ( or whatever they're called on bikes ) for Standard bikes I guess ( as they all had one in TT ).;)

He said that at TGS. All he really said is that if you're at the back of the pack in a 16 car race and all the cars in front of you are kicking up water while it's raining then the framerate might dip a little. But aside from that it's going to be a steady 60fps.
