Jeez, settle down. Trees like that are actually visual markers, so it would be obvious to have them accurate to the real track.

From what I can see, they are accurate. Let's not forget that trees grow / change / get cut and replaced over time.

Looks like the Grand Hotel hairpin at least.

Yep, added a shot of the same area in GT PSP 👍

Are you for real?

Have you driven round the real monaco? Have you remembered where the real trees are?

No.

If the trees are not in the correct place you use other objects as visual markers. I doubt Lewis Hamilton would quit racing if they moved some of the trees.

It looks to be Monaco, excuse me Cote d'Azur, to me as well but the thing I noticed most regarding that picture is that it appears the X1 doesn't have the glass canopy attached ( could be removable, or perhaps I'm missing something ) in that shot.

Seconded. Would seem odd to have a shot of a car other than the X1 in an article about it. Could be the RB6?

Maybe there is more than one version of the X-1.
A "Production" one with the canopy, a gas turbine engine, CVT.
And a "Prototype" one without the canopy, probably with a more standard engine, sequential gearbox with paddle shifter (as we've seen in the Red Bull X-1 teaser), carbon fiber finish?

Maybe the shot is from inside the canopy.

Also, like SHIRAKAWA Akira said, there are 2 versions. (carbon fiber, and RB livery)

Or just one version with different options, the other shot ( Rome ) seems indeed to be without RedBull livery ( carbon or matte-black ).
There also was a shot of the X1 some time ago which seemed to have silver paint.

Maybe the shot is from inside the canopy.

That's what I initially assumed too but you would expect some reflections I reckon.
But it could be indeed.

Was I talking about driving around the track in real life?

No.

I was saying that if PD is going for accuracy, then it would be in in their interest to have the trees in the proper locations, so those who train (aka real life drivers) in games like GT5 will be prepared when they get to the actual track.

I just thought about what SHIRAKAWA Akira said about those paddle shifters being visibly used in that video which if it only is available as a CVT would be pointless or odd.
What if you could adjust the downforce or ground-effect level created by that fan at the back using those 'paddle shifters' ( or the controls normally used for gearchanges )?

Yeah, that could work, as there would be no clutch with CVT either. Or one other option is because it is modelled on the RB10's steering wheel and they didn't remove the paddles.

Maybe there is a CVT version and a version with an engine, like the Citroen GT has a version with gears and a version without.

CVT is merely a replacement for a gearbox, not a motor, but I do get what you are saying. Maybe the CF model is the more 'experimental' version, with the silver/CF version being an alternative, and then the Red Bull liveried version is a more 'normal' version with a sequential gearbox.

I think the camera is just within the canopy cause the outside is a little blurrier but that might just be a focusing issue...damn i want this car

If you look, the foreground is blurry too, it's just an action focus, low shutter speed shot at Vettel's helmet, that's all.
