Spyker's another historically important car company. Like mentioned, they were the first Internal combustion 4WD vehicle, and, nowadays, they own Saab and are one of the few car companies that hand builds the car bodies. This is why you can actually order a customized Spyker in whatever color you want and with whatever features you want. I think, you can even get one without the exposed gear-linkage if you want (but, then, why get a Spyker.) They're like a custom bike builder. They're also one of the few companies that uses an all aluminium body.

Actually, if we want to get technical about it, this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohner-Porsche_Mixte_Hybrid was the first working 4WD, though not very well designed.

The Spyker was the first with an internal combustion engine.

The Jeep was the first mass produced 4WD vehicle and where most of the 4WD popularity came from.

I didn't dispute the influence Jeep had in the history of 4 wheel-drive development and its part in making it popular, just pointed out it wasn't the first.
The Lohner-Porsche is the first one overall apparantly but the Spyker is like you mentioned the first 'conventional' 4X4 perhaps.
The Spyker also had some major flaws though, it didn't have any sort of differential for example making all wheels speed equally even when steering the car, all the time, even when on normal roads as the 4X4 was permanent.

You can also get any colour you want from Aston, Bentley, Lambo, Ferrari... etc etc. Ferrari does them one better with the Portfolio program, with the SP1 and Superfast Aperta... and Glickenhaus' P4/5, though that was before the official start of the program. I'd love all those 1-of-1 cars to be in there; though all that said, more Spykers would be plenty interesting though, and I really hope their purchase of Saab was long enough ago that it can help get more of their cars in the game.

Plenty of companies use an all-aluminum body these days too, especially ones selling incredibly expensive, very rare sports cars ;).

RE: CAR magazine's X1 article; they were involved in that review long before the delay, I don't know why people are surprised by anything in it, or thinking it was an accidental leak in a large well-known magazine...

What makes you think that? They were given to a Car magazine and Kaz and Newey were both interviewed about the car in the same magazine.

Nothing from PD directly though. I know they have released some stuff, but it doesn't seem like they are doing it deliberately. It has to be coaxed out of them :)

LoveCars was a nice treat though.

Technically that is AWD, which is different than 4WD or 4X4. Not arguing, just stating a technicality. Also, the one I posted was technically an AWD.

Normally it would, I assume, be long enough ago to include them if both parties would like to see them included although I unfortunately don't think it's a very high priority, the only fully new Saab for years and years being the new 9-5 ( great car ) which would be nice in my opinion to at least only include as a start as the rest of their current line-up mostly originates from the nineties and not exactly stuff to get excited by.
The rumours of them returning to WRC ( after decades ) has yet to materialize, as are most of their plans to be honest.

I've got a soft spot for Saab and really hope they would use GT5 as a small part in their strategy to revive it again and create some interest for it, so that a new generation not aware of this once quirky brand doesn't only associate it with the boring cars made during the GM-years.
Would love the new 9-5, Aero-X concept, Sonnet, 99 Turbo or the very first Saab ( Ursaab ), etc. but I guess we can only hope for the 9-5 for now.

That could very well be true.

+1 about Saab. I love some of their cars, especially with my aviation background and their "Born From Jets" background. I'm not sure I'd ever buy one, though, because they seem relatively unreliable. I actually test drove like a 2003 or 2004 9-5 (with the salesman in the car), and the the thing broke down in the middle of the test drive to the point where we had to push it to safety in the middle of traffic! :scared: I still love a lot of their designs though. A 9-3 Turbo screams ME.

To be honest their 'Born from jets' slogan was purely marketing as the promise of aviation influence in their cars ( apart from a few gadgets ) never materialized and the aviation department ( which still exists building Saab fighter jets ) was separated from the car building company decades ago.
Loved the canopy on the Aero-X concept though.

What I'd do for a premium 99 Turbo . . .

I never get tired of this. It's so gorgeous.
Too bad there's always someone ready to whine about something (I'm not talking about this particular forum), like the intact headlight.

How sure are you that it is the Murcielago? Not the LP640? Because I would like to have the normal version. That's a serious question by the way.

Lupus in fabula.

Am I wrong or we've already seen scratches?

By the way in the E3/visual effects trailers skidmarks were missing, but we (you too I hope) have seen them recently. Combine everything and you'll have the final result.

There's a Maserati Grand Sport, I believe, next to the Audi TT...Or is it a Jaguar? Hard to tell. If it's an Aston, it's a DB7.
