amazons site says december 31 but i think that is just to be on the safe side because sony said when they delayed it it would be released by this holiday season so to me that means after thanksgiving and before christmas i mean why would they do it right after christmas when most people are broke...and i dont think it would be around the 9th of nov. because black ops would still its thunder...just saying because of the pre order records it broke i think dec.7th would be a good tuesday for them because if they wait to close to christmas most people will be broke again except for hardcore racing fans like us lol

Maybe something on friday at the Paris Game Week.
Sony gets a slot at 5 pm for an announcement on the main stage but there is no word about the subject (others are scheduled with their content as Motorstorm, God Of War or LBP2).

Perhaps it was booked for the GT5 big display by Kaz. But it may or may not happen since the delay blew all and Kaz could be not attending at all.

Maybe that's when they're going to announce the new release date for GT5.

Another thought: Since the game is already gold, Sony doesn't have to announce that it's in production and they could have already shipped the game to the factory to be massed produced. So, that new release date could be any time. It could be the second week in November. Maybe that's why Shaun White Skateboarding was delayed in the US 'cause Sony is using it's production slot for GT5. (which wouldn't necessarily effect the other regions if Sony's all regions are on one disc.

Optimism is nice. Feels nice.

I love your thinking. :)👍

Pessimism ( or negativism ) is better though, sure it doesn't feel nice but you'll almost never lose and if you do it's due to optimism which is a good thing.:D
Exactly,be pessimist means never lose!so be pessimist please and we will get GT5 early!:)

Call me weird but almost everyone I know has GT preorder or have plans to buy in the launch day, almost everyone in Japan will(gamers of course don't misunderstand me),there is a strong fanbase of this game over here, there is consideration that just in JP the game will cover the development and production costs of the entire game, and to add the CE editions are running out as well.

Oh, I wouldn't question that, in Japan. Here? Out of all my friends, maybe half of them have a current-gen gaming system. Of that half... half have a PS3. And of those PS3 owners, I know precisely two people who are very interested in the game. To the extent that I know they're going to buy it, either on release day or very shortly after (though I don't know if they've pre-ordered, and/or if they are getting the CE). Other than that... most of my friends are more casual gamers. If they buy a racing game, it's about pure escapism and not having to follow rules. GT's escapism, sure (I'm not going to be able to take a Veyron around Monaco anytime soon), but it still follows rules in a physics sense. Most of my friends are more enamoured with the idea of Hot Pursuit; it's a quick, easy, pick-up-and-play game, and the appeal of either outrunning cops, or chasing as cops, is there for them. They don't want to buy a game to have to grind through a few hours of license tests and being taught car control. They just wanna go wild... if they aren't busy playing one of the myriad FPS games out there...

I wish more friends cared, and it's encouraging I've got more than a few at least slightly curious about the game by setting up the DFPro with it (that usually piques the curiosities), but around here, GT just isn't that big, unfortunately. No store is planning a midnight release, I can tell you that...

You wind up with a choice between broken product or delayed release.

I'm going to invoke Dev's "false dichotomy" clause here. No, we can end up with a lot more options than just those two.

Free marketing, free advertisement, free exposure, most companies would kill for these fan-made videos.
That's the ironic part isn't it? If nobody bothered to make these clips themselves, in fact if GT5 wasn't talked about so much in most gaming forums or car-related sites they would probably feel the need to fuel the hype themselves.
They effectively let the fans create most of the pre-release hype free of charge and completely voluntary, if I was them I probably wouldn't be bothered about marketing right now too.

I've said it more than a few times; GT's fans are most companies' dream PR department! In all the ways that can be taken...

Exactly,be pessimist means never lose!so be pessimist please and we will get GT5 early!:)

I was like that for a long time with GT, which was why I waited years to get a PS3, because while there were other games I wanted to play, knowing the main draw was in a constant state of "90% complete", I couldn't justify it. Sadly, this Nov 2 release date cracked my defenses and I started getting optimistic that maybe, just maybe, Translator-san flipped to the D section of the office dictionary and pointed to "deadline", and people actually understood the definition!

Same here, my mates love cars and all and racing games but aren't as into them as me. When they were talking it was like..... Ridge Racer, NFS, Juiced, Blur, Burnout and finally someone said "Theres that one Gran... Turismo?" I shut myself up before giving them a right telling of how this is going to be one of the best racing games ever. I shut myself up before I sounded like a game-geek.

I must have missed the gold announcement.

So did PD.

There's also a Sony slot on Sunday 31st @ 4pm.

Since it kind of is GT5 related and just for the hell of it:

I must have missed the gold announcement.

It was said without directly saying it was gold. Sony mentioned that the game had missed the production date by 3 days. That implies that the game is finished and is simply waiting for a new production date...and thus, the game is gold...meaning it's ready for production.

so all you get is a dude? i'll pass :)

Pretty much, all you get is the suit for your Avatar. Of course, you can choose the dynamic themes for your PS3 and PSP or free movie rental (which is useless to me if you have Netflix).
