I totally agree đź‘Ť, Sony should have been keeping tabs on them month by month and weekly during September and October up to release to make sure everything was moving along smoothly, but apparently they weren't.

Maybe SONY assumed that Kaz, being a board member at SONY and a CEx, would have his act together and didn't need a babysitter.

What?! You mean... not everybody who plays games has this on pre-order?! Madness!

Call me weird but almost everyone I know has GT preorder or have plans to buy in the launch day, almost everyone in Japan will(gamers of course don't misunderstand me),there is a strong fanbase of this game over here, there is consideration that just in JP the game will cover the development and production costs of the entire game, and to add the CE editions are running out as well.

Waiting for a game that you already pay and back off for something with less quality is illogical (well for the JP consumer) ,people just get the money for the other game that they are looking for (for example like me,I just bought Medal of honor, dead rising 2,a couple of games unnamed(エッチ),also F1)

So is not a manner of buying it is just a manner of wanting it(I mean GT5 of course).

(On an aside note what happen to the gamestop Thursdays,or was it Tuesdays?).

I agree. I was one of those that was picking up GT5 and not black ops simply cause of release dates.

Same here. I wanted Black Ops but with GT5 supposedly coming out a week earlier I knew I wouldn't play it at all. But now with GT5 postponed until who knows when I am going to pre order Black Ops today. Keeping my GT5 on pre order, but at least now I can get some Black Ops time in. I've played every COD but never bought one on release day. Kind of excited even though I wish GT5 would just come out already.

I thought PD missed the deadline.

This

It doesn't matter who missed what, it's Sony's fault as the publisher.
A publisher should have total control over a games release setup and they should have clear comminucation with PD at all times.
A game as big as GT5 isn't one where you can delay it at this time of the day and they should have had a clear schedule from the E3 release date reveal.
So SCEJ, damn you.

They got to treat their asses, they had enough time (6 years), why another 3 days?

I find it funny that suddenly, Sony as the worst company ever in marketing and PR all because of one game. One game. Not 10, not 20 or more, but one game. Maybe its just me, but this just reeks of insanity.

One game? As I said, it´s the most important PS3 exclusive title since the release of the PS3! It´s not only one cheap PSN game who nobody cares about...

Also I see no marketing and PR for GT5... Only youtube movies filmed by fans...

Ah and this "We love cars" advertise, I bet it costs a few million $$$... Why the hell did they need this? Save the bills and try to get an porsche license for GT6...

For all we know Sony did keep tabs on them, harassed them non-stop, and they still missed it because it was physically impossible to get it done by that date. It happens in production sometimes. You wind up with a choice between broken product or delayed release.

Well, let's be honest. Pre-Kevin Butler Sony's PR for the PlayStation brand was a bit iffy.

But, like you, I don't see how just GT5 would have any effect. Now, if you take into account GT5, LBP2, and SOCOM 4 someone should be asking questions to see if it was just a run of bad luck or if this is all related somehow.

This makes no sense. On one hand you say that you haven't seen any marketing for GT5. On the other hand you complain about them spending millions on an upcoming marketing campaign.

Then maybe you should start looking for it instead of complaining in almost every of your posts?
Right now there is no release date and this game still gets more marketing and PR than games like Call of Duty or Need For Speed:
GT Academy, racing pods in many different countries (mostly on Motor/Car-Shows or Car dealerships), demos in a lot of Best Buy stores, promotion deals with Subway, Schick, We-Love-Cars commercial, GT5 Honda Time's Square Event, racing pods at some Honda dealerships with the new CR-Z ...and that's just the stuff I can think of right now.

Is it really? Is there not another important PS3 exclusive because last I checked, there was. Also, so what? Does that reflect how they are overall with their other exclusives? Does it reflect how they are overall?

Where did I say there was? Its everyone else making these claims as if they work in the business.

Off topic.

The Shaun White snowboarding blu ray fiasco, only effects the US.
Europe will indeed be getting the game this weekend a statement from Sony said.

On topic.

They can release information when it suits.

As for having to go and find PR. That's bad PR, in my book.

Free marketing, free advertisement, free exposure, most companies would kill for these fan-made videos.
That's the ironic part isn't it? If nobody bothered to make these clips themselves, in fact if GT5 wasn't talked about so much in most gaming forums or car-related sites they would probably feel the need to fuel the hype themselves.
They effectively let the fans create most of the pre-release hype free of charge and completely voluntary, if I was them I probably wouldn't be bothered about marketing right now too.

It's PD fault, not Sony. Remember lots of you said the games finished but Sony are not releasing it because they want to wait for 3d TV's.

Oh and move.

Well we have those two things but still no game.

So Sony haven't been cracking the whip enough on PD now, and it's all Sony's fault.
I don't believe that for one minute. Even Kaz saying about complex situations and being 3 days late still means it's Sony's fault.

I guess Kaz/PD can do no wrong here.

I agree with PD beeing the one who is responsible for the delay. IMO PD could have released GT5 2 years ago with less content ofcourse (GT5P with more cars, tracks, online and GT life). Then we were playing now and we would be waiting for GT 6 with all the new announced content. Perfect if you ask me. Sony gave PD full control on making the game they are making now. That is not a bad thing (the game will be enormous). But Sony should have made a real deadline for launching GT5. If it arrives this year I have said nothing and it is due to PD fixing some small things. If release is somewhere in 2011 or even later you can really blame PD for beeing to focused on putting all content in the first installment of a new console. GT3 had less content then GT4 and I didn't mind (think some will). You can/could blame Sony for letting PD do there thing with making this one great game while they could have made two. In the end I don't mind. I loved every GT that arrived and will enjoy GT5 as much as all the others. It was sony's choise to let PD create GT5 the way it will be. Let's all enjoy it when it arrives. Cheers:cheers:.

I know everyone is dissappointed by the delay and not knowing when we will get our hands on the game but many here are over reacting. We will likely know something in a couple of days and we will likely have the game installed on our systems sometime between now and Christmas. I still think Nov 23rd but who knows.

I do not see where they have been lying to us. They had a date and decided to delay for some reason which we can only speculate about. I am sure they have a good reason and I do not think they are just stringing us along. Be patient and see what happens this week.

As the saying goes "Good things come to those who wait"

I must admit that I am getting tired of waiting but I think this is going to be worth the wait.

Are these the same You Tube films showing footage of demo gameplay from marketing and PR displays at shows and other events?

99% of the customers and fans can´t go to this events so it´s usefull for about 1% 👍... It would make more sense to show a handfull new pics and videos every week than promote events where we get off screen material...

There is no reason to spend more money on marketing as long as there is no release date in sight. As soon as the game goes gold and the release is getting closer (again) there'll be a lot of promotion going on, Sony may have done a lot of mistakes in GT5's development, but they aren't dumb enough to just ignore the biggest game launch in their company's history.

I'm looking at the number of pages on this thread, and I've had a thought, perhaps the game won't launch till it equals the current year, so only 31 pages till launch?

It's October 25th, can we, for the love of god PD, get a release date already........

For you !

As with my predictions, we have 20 more pages to go before hitting the 2000 page mark for this tread.

20 more pages in which we ought to have a release day news...

C'mon PD/Kaz, give us some signs of life, some hope in all this desperation...

I was right before delay that we reach 2000 mark

I have to say i'm surprised they're not releasing at least some screenshots or something.

CCX
I have to say i'm surprised they're not releasing at least some screenshots or something.

They have bene releasing screens and movies although not directly from PD's website. But the Course Maker and McLarne F1 videos that GameStop posted came from Polyphony and those screens of the X1 came from Polyphony.

Wait till the paris show I bet there will be more screens then

I'm sure they'll show more screens and hopefully a new trailer at TGS.....and if we're really lucky they may announce a new feature earlier at E3.
Sorry for being cynical, that's just, well deserved I reckon.
