the SEMA show earlier than i thought. its a possible release date event, but surely for a GAME it makes sense to give the big news at a GAMES show as opposed to a Modified car show surely?

awesome thanks, so it just changes the date for us but the preorder is still active?

To my knowledge yes,I was in Game on Monday and asked them and the girl said that they will send it out near the new release date,They also had Sig. editions with a tenner deposit.

Yeah, that's correct. It wouldn't be fair to cancel GT5 pre-orders especially when the CEs have already sold out. When they announce the "Official Release Date-Part 2", your pre-order shipping date should reflect the change.

At the rate PD going, all the cars the game will be classics.

That's basically what I meant.;)

I hear you, forgive my cynicism.

Personally, I don't believe anything they say anymore. When the game is in my hands it will be a different story.

No need to ask for forgiveness, I'm just as cynical as you are believe it or not.
It's just that when trying to guess what's going on and trying to explain it you have to start somewhere ( even if that might be hypothetical ) and then it's helpful to use their own words or explanation regardless of whether you fully believe them and if you do whether to trust them for being accurate.
Otherwise there's no clue whatsoever to use as a starting point.

That was before they delayed the game. Maybe it must be rated again with the 'new' final build.

The content will be the same. I don't think they need a full build, just declare the nature of the product and provide the content like the sound track.

Unless it was gold before September 30 :S

Went to selfridges, finally played at a GT5 pod, physics have greatly improved, I must say the 3D is cool, but I just feel its not worth it at this time.

Also ive got a question for everyone:

Basically, I know Im pretty good at playing GT5 on a controller, but this was the first time I played on a wheel with pedals, the wheel with its force feed back felt amazing, but then I felt that the game was a lot harder to play; the pedals were really sensitive and they felt to close to my feet so I kept accidentally pressing the breaks when they were not needed, now that Im here at home, I realize that I didn't turn the wheel all the way, just at small 45 degree angles, next time Im on a wheel Im hoping I play a lot better. I just want to ask if people here had the same problem the first time they played on a wheel?

I know you're a mod, but linking to a thread post with another link to site you want us to look at just seems like a lot of stupid. Why not just paste the link here, too?

EDIT: Be ware of Pop-up spamming.

Presumably he wanted discussion of the event in the correct thread.

I think it's one of the problem with Logitech DFGT (GT5 official wheel and the one on most GT5 pods) is that the pedal are a bit on the soft side. It's especially bad for the brake since you can't modulate it properly. Some people resort to putting squash ball underneath the brake pedal.

When I first bought my G25, for the first few months I had to use both the ASM and TCS for GT5P especially when racing. It's only after I've finally figured out the feel of the pedals, did I turn them off.

From my own experience, it takes some time to adapt from pad to wheel. I the beginning, like you, I wasn't turning it all the way, and wasn't countering the force-feedback enough. But that didn't last long.

Then have the same discussion, if any, going on in two seperate threads? I'm all for KISS, but there is already too many double discussions going on as it is.

I posted in the relevant thread and considering that this is also GT5 news, I supplied a link here so that any discussion that may take place would be done in the relevent thread, not here.

First off, I'd like to say that I am also more comfortable with a Dualshock than with my DFGT. If that was your first time, then of course it would feel much harder to drive. The strength of the force feedback, the degree of wheel turning rather than a quick flick of the analog, seating position... I may not have had the degree of difficulty you had during the transition because I was already used to driving IRl, but it will take you a few more laps before you become accustomed. And you have to admit, it was much more of an experience than with a controller. 👍

I don't recall having that problem my first time on the wheel. Maybe the pedal setup was different for me, but I never encountered that.

My first outting with a decent FFB wheel was in Forza 2 on the oval tracks I saw an instant improvement in lap times but on road courses I found myself driving slower and spinning out quite often.
On GT5P I started with the controller and did ok then hooked up the DFGT and did much better aside from a few spin outs early on.

It takes a while to get used to the wheel but it is worth the time.

btw I also found myself riding the brake a bit the first couple of times with the DFGT.

I have NEVER played a GT game with a steering wheel, I'lve always played with the conroller. Maybe it's time for me to jump on the wheeltrain to? Hmmm... Just gotta save some more money then.

I personally have only an old Logitech GT Force (the one released for GT3), and that's already a big bonus in terms of experience. So I guess you can find much cheaper things than the G27 (if that's a concern) and have lots of fun.

I find that im a couple of tenths faster per lap with a wheel compared to the dual shock but that's just me I guess
I think that is normal once you get the feel for it. The biggest problem in going from the wheel to the controller is controlling oversteer. Where you have gotten used to just a quick flip of the thumb you now have to move both hands a considerable amount especially if you are a bit slow to react and the FFB will fight you as well. Is a lot of fun but takes practice.

At first, me to. But just wait till you try drifting for the first time with a wheel. I actually screamed at myself the first time I tried. Now though, I can take the F430 to Eiger, set the physics to pro, and have a hay day with it. It just takes some getting used to. Once you've got it, you'll eventually end up being better with the wheel than with a controller.

Yes I think that the whole having to turn the wheel more is what got me, I remember I kept under steering around tight corners at low speeds, and at the time I didn't have a clue why I was struggling so much, now I know I just wasn't turning the wheel that much.
