I think it's good to have the old gtplanet back.
The days when people didn't know the release date were the best IMHO.

PD are great.

Just hold on guys, we should all be pros by now at waiting for GT5. Save your anger for the AIs when you're playing the game. I know I will be flipping AIs left right and center on my 1st race in Arcade mode just to let out some steam and frustration.

Yeah, it hurts, to think GT5 would have been out in 6 days.

I already got over it but I was hoping for a new release date in late November.
But right now I'm hoping for early December because November is almost impossible considering the lack of news.

They announced the delay 2 weeks ago today. PD have given out virtually no new info about the game since. I don't understand why they just can't tell us when it's coming.

I was so excited about this game a month ago and happy it was coming out. GT5 is the only game I'm getting this year so it meant a lot to me. But the way PD has handled this has made me bitter towards them.

Haha fail :D
I never would have thought that this could mean Christmas :dopey:
So a release date in November is getting more unlikely every day.

Noel means christmas in french indeed, but it could also possibly mean that the game will be released during the winter season (which include Noel)

So I guess it doesn't mean the release date is 25/12 but the period between november and january

Was hoping to read a potentially interesting opinion on why GT5 wasn't relevant anymore and perhaps some interesting arguments as to why that could be the case ( despite GT5 being a definite first day buy for me ) but this line ( although perhaps not even the worst one ) put me off that illusion.

Karting? The minute Crash Bandicoot or Sonic climbs into a go-kart we scoff and say 'well, that series is circling the drain

That's just being plain ignorant and shows no insight whatsoever and makes everything else seem irrelevant ( which it turned out to be in my opinion even apart from that remark ).

Are sensationalist articles relevant?

GT5, one of the most delayed games OF ALL TIME!?

Sheesh...

Other than the afore-mentioned Duke... what game has been in development longer than GT5?

Though there's a bunch of hilarity in that article: "Ferraris not Fiats" as a line about Premiums, what with the two 500's already confirmed...

Starcraft 2 was in development since 2003. They actually ended up splitting it into a trilogy just so they can get part of what they were originally developing out. The next part of the trilogy probably won't be released until 2012 at the earliest. Diablo 3 has been in development since 2001 and it also probably won't be out until 2012.

Then i don't understand why GT5 gets lots of negative comments about it's development time, SC2 took that long and yet i don't recall ever seeing any negativity about it.

Although i suppose it's because GT5 has been given so many release dates and been delayed past all of them.

Blizzard get plenty of abuse due to their "its ready when it's ready" attitude as well, and with SC2 they had a bit of luck with the original still being played and enjoyed on a fairly broad scale. That can't be said for lets say, Diablo3 as SolidsnakeX rightfully said, started in 2001

Because it's Blizzard.

Because according to some, you should rush a game out and have it on the market even though it's buggy and doesn't play right. Or graphics aren't always the best. Or blotches appear on screen. Or features are left out. Or this or that, you get the picture.

Time is passing, but by complaining and rioting were not gonna get GT5 any faster. It'll be here when it's here.

It's because all people in the world likes it so much so they get rather sad and upset when it's delayed but takes it out in anger.

A little bit like a relationship between husband and wife :)

I think:
- Starcraft 2
- Diablo 3
- WoW
- FF13 Versus
- Alan Wake?
- LA Noire
- The Last Guardian

But I'm not sure at every one of them and I don't know about older games. (maybe Half Life 2?)

WoW was really in development for 5+ years? and Last Guardian? Hmm, this I didn't know. Also thought all versions of FF13 started development around 2005... so I guess Versus is roughly on par with GT5 then. I'll concede the other ones though. My point is that 99.9% of games have had much shorter dev times than GT5, so in that sense, it really is one of the longest.

Think you just answered you're own question ;).

Whether or not they've been concrete "release dates", per se, Kaz has said GT5 would be ready by the end of 2008. And 2009. And 2010. From what little I've read about Blizzard, they won't get teased out into the whole release date thing, but have the afore-mentioned "when it's done" policy. PD could learn a thing or two from that (though at this point, having a history of delaying nearly every single one of their games, that reputation will precede them for some time).

Most games also don't do much different from their previous incarnations. People wanted PD to step up and make GT5 a big evolution over GT4. That's not something that can be done in a typical development cycle.

That's assuming it isn't out yet because it's buggy, full of glitches or blotches ( whatever that actually means ) appearing on the screen.
What if it could be released before without bugs, glitches and blotches ( which is also a possibility never mentioned by those who point this out somehow, theoretically ofcourse but then all possibilities you mentioned are too as we simply don't and probably never will know ) or what if it's going to be released after all these years still with bugs, glitches and blotches?
You can say a lot of things about GT5 but not that it's rushed......

Lets not forget that PD released GT5 Prologue and GTPSP in the development of GT5 as well. Also, that article is purely to get people on these forums flaming.

You see demos out now with blotches (spots) and mess ups, pop-ups and such, you think the final game should be right without all that correct? So I think Kaz is taking his time making sure things are right. I'm pretty sure they were, and there's more to it than just simple glitches in the game. Whether he missed his production date because of that or because of the new firmware, we don't know. All we know is GT5 aint here yet, so no reason to get all worked up about it. When GT4 was delayed I wasn't mad. I just said cool, that'll give me more time to save some money up, work overtime so i can take off work and use some 'sick days' to play my new GT4.

I think PD catches unnecessary flack, but they kind of brought it on their self. If they didn't constantly give release projections and market all of the time, then people would move on until the release is around the corner. But, they are constantly making trailers, etc.

Now, I consider this a good thing and am glad that I get a little tidbit every once in a while. But, I think this pisses off a lot of people and gives a false impression in some circles.

In most games in the coming weaks they announce features, screenshots, new trailers, etc. Coming up on the actual date we haven't got anything since TGS. A month and a half ago. We better get something on November 2, despite not actually getting the game.

So what about the Paris Event starting today? How is that supposed to work out in releasing info and such? Is the only info coming on Friday, or should there be stuff from the event today?

No one is 100% sure yet, but no info has come out today.
