Sun November 01, 2010 PS3 News and apologize for Gran Turismo 5 Release date
Store product information pages of the game "Gran Turismo 5 (Limited Edition)", "Gran Turismo 5", "PlayStationR 3 GRAN TURISMO 5 RACING PACK" Orima****a incorrectly referred to the release date information.
The product is now "Pending Release Date" will be. Customers and other manufacturers, to whom it may concern is the inconvenience, sorry. The correction, I apologize.

looks like a general apology to me. still interesting though

It must have been leaked. You don't see all these other retailers saying sorry to Sony for these placeholder dates and who is to say what is a placeholder date or not. I don't see why Sony just doesn't say "does not comment on specualtion or rumor" like always instead of possibly giving it away by having an apology announced to them. Or saying nothing at all which is what they are best at.

Here it is

http://www.dmm.com/mono/game/

It's the main headline in their game section.

I think it's more like a general apologize to their customers (for misleading them with a wrong date) than one to Sony - would be pretty weird anyway apologizing to Sony in the public. I could be wrong but this doesn't mean much to me.

Maybe they apologize for causing confusion (not just on the internet but also for their customers)? Or it's just because they are japanese and have a a different connection to Sony. Could be anything.

It definitely could be nothing. But Japanese retailers are known for not only leaking release dates but also leaking actual games before they're officially announced. Now this could obviously be a case where DMM is apologizing because they just put a placeholder date and received a lot of customer questions about whether or not it was accurate. It could also be a case that Sony has begun communicating the release date to retailers in order to secure retail space and DMM just happened to jump the gun on posting the release date.

I read that GT5 comes out on 31th december, can we believe this or is it just for the customer to have a focus on the game. info from amazon.com

Gran Turismo 4 came out on December 28th in Japan, so that would not be very surprising.
By the way, I can't help but notice that most Gran Turismo have been released (in Japan at least) around the end of the year.
1997-12-23 Gran Turismo (PSX)
1999-11-30 Gran Turismo 2 (PSX)
2001-04-28 Gran Turismo 3 A-spec (PS2)
2003-12-04 Gran Turismo 4: Prologue (PS2)
2004-12-28 Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)
2006-12-24 Gran Turismo HD Concept (PS3)
2007-12-13 Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (PS3)
2009-12-17 Gran Turismo: Academy (PS3)
2010-12-00 Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) ???
PD and Sony surely seem to like the end of year period.
This makes me almost wonder if they deliberately delayed GT5 a bit more.

Im thinking on this far too much. You're looking at the months they've been released, and I'm looking at the years. (1997, 1999, 2001)...(2007, 2009, 201?
Is there a pattern...Could it be? :scared:

If the release date is once again around Christmas (this time it would be the first for a worldwide release, but the great majority of the japanese versions of past GT came out in December/Christmas holiday period), that can't be unintentional.

I also remember that Gran Turismo 4 (japanese version) too was supposed to come out in November (expected release date), but then it got delayed a bit to the end of year 2004.

The more I think about it, the less I believe that this further delay is being caused by development or production problems.

December 23rd would make a lot of sense for Japan. Many workers get their bonuses in December and the 23rd is a national holiday. As is November 3rd when it was supposed to be released here.

News incoming VERY soon…

That was in response to a question about mubi.

"Also didn?t Sony promist us Mubi this month?"

Which has just been announced. Not GT5 I'm afraid.

*Ninja'd

I've heard throught the grapevine from a friend of an ex employee of Sony that the real reason for the original delay was that , Ben Collins highjacked a freighter that was carrying 15 million copies of GT5 and has now steered it to the coast of Somalia where the pirates are playing it as we speak.
That's why we have'nt heard anything because Jack Trenton and Kevin Butler are on the way there in a 2 man canoe with a big bag of money strapped to the back.

Haha awesome

First of all, im a huge racing fan, whether its GT or Forza. I have all the previous GT’s and all forza’s and I currently love forza 3 which imo is the best sim out today!
So im not trolling about which is better etc

Right, I must say that sony/PD are very very unprofessional in the way that they are dealing with this.
We/us their community deserve to be treated with respect. How the hell can they delay a game 3 weeks before the release date when they’ve had 6 years to make it?
Then they say we will tell u the new date before the end of the month that hasn’t happened either. That guys is vey very unprofessional. I don’t care if they tell us today or 2moz, they are unprofessional.
All they do is keep us in the dark with words like “soon”, “believe “holiday season” WTF is that crap.

We should plan some kind of boycott to not get the game till jan just to mess up their figures - that I think they deserve.

Did Ben Collins also steal a consignment of new PS3's for them to play the game on

I completely agree with you about sony/pd being very unprofessional, but there is NO WAY i'm boycotting GT5 after waiting this long. :banghead:
