Rumor | November 1, 2010 - A Japanese retailer may have the new release date for Gran Turismo 5 leaked. According to the chain shows the game on December 23.

Mistake?
The Japanese retailer DMM.com the date stated on its website. Normally it is a 'substitute' but as the date was quickly removed seems to have more going to be. This might be information that is not allowed to be disclosed, or perhaps it's just a mistake.

Delay
Gran Turismo 5 was originally scheduled for release on November 5. Sony, the game in October and promised at the end of that month with a new date to come. That is not happening. A good reason for the delay is never given, but reportedly had to hack the PS3.

I'll believe it when Sony speaks out.

Gran Turismo 4 came out on December 28th in Japan, so that would not be very surprising.
By the way, I can't help but notice that most Gran Turismo have been released (in Japan at least) around the end of the year.

1997-12-23 Gran Turismo (PSX)
1999-11-30 Gran Turismo 2 (PSX)
2001-04-28 Gran Turismo 3 A-spec (PS2) (exception, the game was supposed to come out around the end of year 2000 as "Gran Turismo 2000")
2003-12-04 Gran Turismo 4: Prologue (PS2)
2004-12-28 Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)
2006-12-24 Gran Turismo HD Concept (PS3)
2007-12-13 Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (PS3)
2009-12-17 Gran Turismo: Academy (PS3)
2010-12-00 Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) ???

PD and Sony surely seem to like the end of year period.
This makes me almost wonder if they deliberately delayed GT5 a bit more.

I might be alone here, but I find that interesting, and it lends a lot of hope. However, a christmas release would annoy me some what. as I can't get near my PS3 for several days around that time.

There's a lot to do to the release date for Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3. The game was first released in March 2010, when in November 2010, but now the game was postponed. A new release date is still unknown, but it seems that the game in Japan just in time for the holiday rush.

A store in Japan on December 23 GT5 put on his website, but has subsequently taken offline. This may be due to many reasons, which may be related to assignments from the company itself or of course Sony. An official announcement, which had been promised, there is in fact not been.

December 23 would be a good date for a release in Japan. They celebrate Christmas as well, but old and new is apparently more important in terms of gifts. In the West we have some shopping before December 23. Let us hope that the date we received the N8W8 Florian therefore the date for the West. Fascinating that the game is released later in Japan.

So yeah because a retailer said so, with some extra speculation thrown in the mix.

You said Sony said so.
