Oh joy! I hope we get some new info. Although, I just want a release date. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way.

That is for sure not going to happen.
I would not recommend a 3D TV for GT5 because of the 30FPS. It runs in 30FPS because it is processing two images on top of each other(each are at 30FPS). This goes for all 3D games. Frame rate is cut in half

A release date announcement days before actual release will be ... weird.
The countdown thread (if re-opened by the mods) will EXPLODE. People will be scrambling to make plans/adjustments in their schedules. I, for one, will make sure to keep one full weekend day to myself. I'll probably go and completely pay-off my CE pre-order at gamestop when the release date's announced and ask my wife to pick it up in the morning. I highly doubt gamestop will do a midnight opening on short notice, but then again, you never know.
After the wait, a sudden announcement will actually be pretty interesting. Kind of like a scrambled Christmas.

I can see it being announced monday and launched wednesday or thursday. (I think it is unlikely to happen , but it is possible to launch a game so short after the announcement).
I'm guessing a 17-18 Nov release date and announcement next week Friday or something.

Yeah, as far as I know, I don't think it's ever been done; and certainly not for such a big-name title. I'm sure a bunch of crap games don't even get release date announcements at all, but GT5 ... c'mon? That'll create a huge buzz in the industry and that just may be the intention of Sony. That just MIGHT be their marketing strategy. I'm sure none of us will be disappointed if that's the case.

I played the 3D version of GT5 back at Sony's holiday season preview in Toronto, and it's literally a 'meh' in my books. The cockpit nor the cars pop out of the screen like what you expect from 3D movies. What 3D does is it gives you more depth so it seems like there isn't a screen and you literally put your hand in and touch the car if you know what I mean. But with 3D you lose the crisp feeling. Seriously, you put the glass on, and you can't help but ask yourself, "That's 3D? I don't see much difference at all." It's not just GT5, but Killzone 3 was pretty similar as I didn't see bullets shoot past my face during crazy battles.
Besides, you can't play too long with 3D on, because it puts some strain on your eyes over time. Maybe it's just the demo unit in Sony store, but it was flickering so bad that my eyes hurt after watching a couple minutes. However, this wasn't the case with GT5 3D, so I don't really know what to expect.

That would be fantastic. It's funny reading these threads for a good while. At first glance, one may think that one poster's release estimate means something. But after reading for a good while, it all becomes a blur that goes from "maybe it will release suddenly and as soon as the next week or two" to "I've conceded and accepted that it probably won't come out this year." Sony/PD had really made us crazy.
We're all essentially running around like chickens with our heads cut off... even those that have "conceded" can't resist checking the news/forum often.
They've done exactly the right thing to peak interest and make us all crazy.

That stolen copy of GT5 looked pretty real to me so..... PD give us a date! We know you've got disks being printed ect. You won't miss up on the 3DTV + 320gb PS3 + GT5 bundle for those with more money than sense. Would you Sony...?
What is holding them back? The disks are being made, so the game is most likely finished production, now PD, take a calender, realise you are late to give us a date, apologise for it, set a date and swim in my money.

I dont think they will release the game before the pre launch party in madrid on the 24th and 25th november

I'm not like that when GT5 gets delayed, I do get slightly disappointed, but not really upset at all. It's just a game to me and I do have more important things to worry about. 
Well I was pretty close with Dec 7.
I have a feeling that Dec 3 will be the release date, and that it finally will come out then.
