1- I`m just telling waht PTOM says
2- How dou you know GT5 is not done yet? Nobody knows, and the conversion maybe done but not in a blu-ray, just in the computer, you know what i mean?

Yes I believe you :) but IMO that states the game is done but only THE KAZ knows:)

Regarding the small details, it's the small details in the GT series that have marked it from all competitors and is a sign of a really good game. Little things that you wouldn't notice had someone not pointed it out add the the realism and engagement a player has with the game. Think drakes fortune for example. The quality of the animation and voicework was far higher than in any other game and it really got you into the story and characters. Little touchers suck as glowing brakes, lights, sparks, exhaust flames, movable spoilers, suspension, etc etc adds to the belief that you are driving a real functioning car. The little things all add up, but you would notice them if they were not there.

Brake lights? Fair enough. Disks lighting up under braking? Fair enough. Sparks coming off the exhaust when it bottoms out? Fair enough but seriously - if my car is reversing, at any point in the race, I don't think it's going to be one of those replays that I'll be watching over and over again.

maybe so, but what if a care infront is reversing into the track having just crashed?

You'll be like "What the hell is he doing!" and then "why does his car have no damage having just crashed!"

Thank you good sir! Those are exactly my thoughts!

I don't care if they're realistic, I don't care if they're easy to implement, I just don't care about them. GT lacks more important stuff than "Brake lights". It's not the real parking simulator. I just don't need them, anything that you don't need is superflous. Of course, a lot of details are superflous but some have more impact than others. Good graphics will have more impact, Glowing brake disks would have a small yet significant impact but...reverse lights???

I'd be too concentrated trying to race in cockpit view, trying to follow the line, to drive properly, to not crash, to notice reverse lights. If I ever saw them on a replay it would be when I crashed, and that would be a replay I wouldn't care in saving. I'd be more amazed to see "Wow! Look at those brake disks in that Audi R10 braking at Arnage corner!" than "Look...the idiot who crashed his car is now backing up...with lighting to match...".

Precisely. And that's basically what I want reverse lights to be in the game. Are they important? Define important, because as far as I'm concerned, exhaust flames, glowing brakes and others are't important. You can perfectly live without them. However, I find reverse lights to be more basic than any of those things, which is why I believe they should have been there since GT1, or GT2.

Some people don't seem to understand me. If the game had reverse lights since day one, I wouldn't go "OMG awesome!". Neither I would thought of it as a ground breaking feature, given they are very basic. But right now, I would.

That some people care and others don't is crucial. Don't confuse "I don't care" with "unimportant". I don't care about weather, nor damage, but at least I recognize they are important in establishing a good simulation. As reverse lights, which is the only reason I want them in: to enhance the simulation. Anything that enhances the simulation is important, regardless of how tiny.

I have pretty much explained myself. If I went one step ahead, I would lose my mind, and start saying gibberish and contradict myself. Which I believe, some of you have already started to do so.

BTW I watched the above German final Nurb video again and noticed it has 1080p option now - when did that happen on Youtube?!

Some amazing detail on the Nurb now. More poles, structures, power lines going overhead. Road signs are clear etc.
Hell the trees look a ton better :)

Edit - noticed the Black car taking a spill in the rear view mirror

I continue to don't understand why do you insist with this stupid reverse light!! it's the compenet more futile in the game, yesterday many people made fall 5-5 pages speaking abuot stupid 2dtrees,today speaking about stupid reverse light, tomorrow speaking abuot bird flying in the sky!!!!!....stop it

Can someone who does some racing in real life tell me if reverse lights are required for a car that is only driven on racetracks, I seem to recall something about not needing reverse lights or indicators, only brake lights and rain lights or lights for night if applicable. Obviously the rules would have to change with some forms of racing like the open wheelers and stuff.

That is curious. But i think the argument is referring to cars which actually have reverse lights. And due to the nature on the GTPSP lineup, i'm going to assume the majority of cars will be road legal models, which are required to have reverse lights :)

I've never seen an LMP car or any high end race cars reversing under their own power... I'm not sure they even have reverse gears, never mind lights.

I think all cars would need a reverse gear before being allowed on a racetrack, f1 cars are required to have a reverse gear.

^^Yeah, all race cars are required to have a reverse gear. But they are built really flimsy because it's rarely used and to keep the weight down.

I don't know why people need trees better than those, I felt they were quite good actually and better than the ones in...*cough* Forza *cough*.

That's the level of detail I want, the one that I see trough my windshield or on the garage...not reverse lights .

I've been hunting around and all series I've found with the exception of the likes of F1 require brake lights, all require rain lights and some night lights if applicable. Some require turn indicators but none I've found so far have required reverse lights and at least one series (Dutch GT4) requires that reverse bulbs MUST be removed.

EDIT: Rally cars could be different since they may have to drive on public roads and need to be road legal.

And this:

8.4.3) Reverse lights
The bulbs of the reverse lights must be removed.

I see you're attempting day/night cycles but you appear to be having some z-buffer issues with your setting sun.

Hah, someone with sharp eyes, that particular picture is from an earlier built we weren't quite satisfied with, but don't be concerned for the final product, you can expect perfection ... ;)

First decent quality full lap pf the Nurb in normal 370Z, pro physics and N3 tyres.
Big spill at the start that looks pretty realistic
How can anyone say this is the same Nurb as in GT4???

There is some obsessive details here -
don't think I saw any duplicate trees in the whole track :)
And the colours change from section to section. You really feel like your driving in a dense forest.
There doesnt seem to be one grass texture for the whole course
Hell there is even one small patch of greener grass in one corner where the rest of that area is mostly browner :dopey:
Lots of structures and details around the course and so on.

And it just looks like the Nurb you see in real life videos

Don't you love it?!? :dopey:.

I believe this is as much background details as we need. Yes, they're nice to have. And the more accurate, the better. But taking in account it'll be something you'll pass by at 100+MPH it's not critically important. I'm impressed and satisfied with such quality!

Who's saying 2D trees now? :yuck:

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....the Ring is so realistic and the grass is so natural!the king is back:)

good comparison video - Sunny and HD in an M5 - the bright green on the sun lit trees doesn't look so unrealistic now does it? :)
That guy is drifting the M5 pretty easily with passengers :sly:

Thanks for posting that CoolColJ, the Ring will be incredibly popular in GT5!
Nice Avatar too.:D:tup:

Nurb video...

I like how we can see suspension working - for example after T1 before left hander.

And after watching comparison video - I second my own opinion ;) that Nurb in GT5 is definitely too narrow...GT games have their scale problem and GT5 did not dill with it...

For online a few diehards. Nurburgring is too long for the average John Doe to have good racing

Nurburgring is overrated. Narrow, few passing opportunites despite 300 turns

I never saw it as much of a racing track either, to be honest but for hotlapping it's second to none.
