looking at series list a/spec and b/spec.am series, beginner, pro, extreme and endurance. looks like theres still a slot available for one more, does there not.???

One more? They can add lots more at the bottom/side. All we should have to do is scroll down or over, depending on how they'd do it. Also they can either make some of the images smaller or nudge somethings over into a better position. They can easily add several gigs to this game to make it what it should be. I will gladly max out my hd space to get added content. I want them to force me to add a bigger hd than what I currently have. Add stuff all the way up to GT6.

That´s NOT what a lot of us were waiting for!!!

It´s necessary a leaderboard similar to prologue, with all the tracks and with same cars..What they added yesterday it´s a small part of what we have had in prologue....

You want 80,000+ leaderboards?

The leaderboards in Prologue where the most horrible thing ever IMO...
I have to say I love the update so far, but I have two questions:

1.How do I get the game to install completely? It just stops at the 3 minute mark and stays there (seemingly) forever ( 40+ minutes).

2.I can't find the online leaderboards? :sly:

I don't really see it working that way. It's really just one massive leaderboard for each track, and then it's filtered down to give you the information you need. At the end of the day it's probably a handful of megabytes of information to keep track of (total guess) and in terms of information it's really not as huge as some people think it is (therefore not as impossible to work with as some suspect).

I thought the GT5 Prologue leaderboards worked great and I'm surprised they're not included wholesale in every part of the game. With enough fuss I'm sure they'll be added. Plus as seen in the seasonal events the capability is clearly there, brought over just as it was in Prologue and the Time Trial Demo.

I look forward to seeing it implemented, especially in practice mode, would really add that bit more to doing laps of the Nurburgring Nordeschleife having something to compete with.

if it was all one board then there would be millions and millions of entries for each track which is insane. How many million people bought the game? Times that by 1031 cars.. that is a lot of entries for one leaderboard.. and then you have to have one of those boards for each track in the game.

but filtering it is the best method.

it would take up stuff all space given the type of data it would be storing

Yes. We want 80,000 leaderboards. Don't try and make it sound ridiculous, it's completely possible and given what was shown in Prologue, somewhat expected. To go from Prologue to TWO leaderboards is...weird.

Yes, and yes. We want leaderboards for every car.

If they are really smart, they would put some filters like FF, FR, Muscle, so people can have "inner" competitions withim those boards.

It was almost perfect in Prologue and i can´t wait to see on GT5.

It has to be in.

Every ones game does that, it takes forever just be patient took about 20 min for mine when it said 30 seconds!

In my opinion, Time Trial Leaderboards are a must.
I think it would be reasonable to have leaderboards for 300 selected cars (stock/no settings + free mods/full settings) for every track.

That would be satisfies me.

As others mentioned, I think there should be a global leaderboard for each track.
The game would query the main servers in order to obtain the 250 best times (this should also reduce network load) and we should be able to filter leaderboard data with all sorts of car parameters, including driving assists (for example Skid Recovery which is far too helpful, and actually reduces lap times), controller used, etc.

Why do people care about leaderboards? Honestly. Unless you're in the top 0.0000000001% of players what are you going to get out of it?

👍 Cannot understand the " we must have leaderboards " whinning.

Just doesn't work...all you get is people who'll cheat there way to the top anyway they can....just look at FM3 It's a joke....each track is dominated by a specific car...um yeah great fun everybody driving the exact same car blah blah boring boring boring zzzzzzzzz.

Then no doubt once the cheaters establish them selfs at the top of every leaderboard....there will be the inevitable leaderboard wipe....then we get the whinning again from all the legit guys :sly:

I didn't want to create a new thread just for this so hopefully someone here can help me..

Will there be a pay out of credit and XP for the time and drift trials once they end?
ie. if you are in the top 260 at the end of the allocated time will you get a reward?, because there isn't much point in having them if they are just going to dissappear and be replaced with something else every couple of months?

Well, in Prologue you have a leaderboard per each car / track.
Of course you can see the fastest car on the track and, I agree with you, that's boring.
The leaderboards, in my opinion, are a way to see how much you improve and it would be nice if they can give you the chance to compare your laps vs your friends laps, in a chart.

I suppose that if they implement the leaderboards, a totally must, they will show the option to compare with your friends laps..

With the necessaries filters i think that it something that should be in the game.

I am not so concerned with the file size or keeping track of the information as I am with attempting to view data for specific vehicles on specific tracks. Unless it will only show you data for your current car and track (and people will complain) the user will have to select which car and track combo they want to see from a list of over 1,000 cars.

The other side of this is that if PD is trying to meet your demand I am going to guess that less than a month was not enough time to get it done. I have had to create databases with only 230 primary variables. It can take the better part of a week to set that up and then check that every variable lines up correctly and any referencing of other fields (time off from the leader) is referencing the correct data in every instance. To be creating 80+ databases with 1,031 primary variables is a nightmare. Then to connect them all up online to be accessed remotely by what could be a million users at once, without lag?

For all we know it is on its way and is just taking time to setup. Initially everyone in planning probably laughed at the thought that GT fans would be so OCD that they must have a leaderboard for every car on every track.

But Prologue was "just a demo." It was less than 1% of the cars.

As for the two leaderboards thing, I like it. It is keeping people from locking into one car to focus on 24/7. You can still do that on your own if you want and better yourself, but I would think someone that wants to say they are one of the best at this game should be able to jump in any given car on any given track and prove they are the best. If you can only do it with one car/track combination then I am not impressed.

If you wanted a challenge you have it: Prove you are the best no matter the variables.

And don't forget that these have a time limit on them and will change. You are not stuck to just the same restricted leaderboards forever, just a few weeks.

It has to be in.
No, it doesn't. My game seems to be working fine without it. Nothing is broken, it just doesn't meet your expectations.

Sounds like a lot, but in the end it's just data and parameters.. very possible i think.
It is possible. No one said it wasn't, but I would risk being fired for laughing at my boss if I were asked to set it up anytime soon.

Maybe it would be better if they did more than the small number they have on offer now. But I honestly don't see the need for 80,000 tracks. I would say that it would silence the complaints, but this thread has some new tiny thing to complain about every other week. This game has many real issues that affect everyone and seeing those addressed first would be awesome.

Once again. Does anyone have any info or thoughts on this:

Have to quote because it shows (my) respect for the need to have some, despite the fact that I couldn't care less and that there are more things (and just MAYBE more important) than the cheater leader boards.

And if they do implement more (and I hope they do, in due time) please leave it as an "opt-in" option.

The game is already suffering enough from all the "online" loading.

Its a weird one the leaderboard situation. the way the tt demo was done, and in essence the seasoned events is probably the best way to go. Give you a car , and a track, and just keep trying to set your best time on it. This though, does make you want to do it on more cars, and more tracks. but frankly, there is way too much for it to happen logically.

And i don't think it would has enjoyable has been given just the car and track. At least you can focus on getting the best out of the car, and the track. the enjoyment should and did (for the tt demo) of just trying to beat your own time. If the game was open for all cars, all tracks, it would dwarf your ambition, and lack a certain amount of incentive to keep coming back to find a tenth or so, and that what it is all about.

Perhaps either a) reduced the competition to one week, or b) have three time trails to do for a particular time (say as it is now, three weeks).

Also, maybe, because at the moment, the regulations are reflected as parameters- max hp and a certain weight, is just to lend you a car, which cannot be tuned, so everyone is in the same boat. i guess you can see the cars that eventually set the times (At the moment the kubyasi (sorry for the sp) seems to be the car to set the time), but for the less experienced tuners and that its more hassle ( but i guess a part of the fun is trying out stuff for yourself)

Not true, they can keep this system with seasonal Time Trial events, and award cash and XP for the first 100 or something, but there also should be the general leaderboards, where you drive the whichever combo you want, and see where you are compared to the rest of the world, with everything stock and aids off. I still can't believe it's not in the game (or if it ever will be.. )
