I was just over a friends house trying out his driving SIM in iRacing. And thay have this free practice run online where everyone online in the same class car was running all at the same time. Man! I wish we had that feature in our GT5p online in "Free Run" it would be great to just run laps with other people online. Instead of just racing for 5 or 10 laps then starting over. I think they could max out up to 46 cars online.

Ah, I have news! Not really, but this is getting ridiculous so..

I caught an article in Game Informer a few days ago - "Sony's Head of Worldwide Studios Touts A Creative Approach To Game Development" where they drill Shuhei Yoshida on some stuff, nothing new but wtf:

Matt Helgeson
You are very supportive of Polyphony Digital and have given them what seems like almost unlimited time to make Gran Turismo 5. Obviously, they want to make the best game they can, but from a management perspective does it reach the point where you say enough is enough?

Shuhei Yoshida
[Laughs] Well, with developers like Yamauchi-san, it may look from the outside that they spend as much time as they want, but they really do work hard to get the game done. They wish that they could release these games more frequently. But because of the pressure they put on themselves, they have been doing the best they can.

It's true that it has been five years since the last true game - Gran Turismo 4 - was released; when you look at it like that the team seems to be taking forever. But Gran Turismo is one of the faces of the Playstation brand, so they always get requests from the platform side to make technical demonstrations. Kazunori would remind you that, from Polyphony's standpoint, they have released something almost every year, like Gran Turismo HD, the one-track demo or Gran Turismo Proto or the PSP Gran Turismo. So, yes, they aren't like other developers that can release games year after year, but they are also in the situation that they have additional responsibilities to the platform. So I'm half-agreeing with your statement, but also trying to explain the situation around Gran Turismo

Just reminding us all of something we generally tend to forget. No release dates or skid mark confirmations or other important stuff.

It seems that was the case in the GT Academy when they were doing practice laps, should be possible in GT5 (except the 46 cars).

Just watched Game face on bravo channel. They showed some footage ( not sure if it's new but it lasted 1 min). Their saying September release.

More speculation.

Yeah I saw that, didnt the Australian PSM say the same thing?

I quite like gameface but I wouldnt have thought they would be the first people to be given an official date.

Here's hoping though!

Enybody heard about Destination Playstation event?? Was in last year 24 feb and had loads of news . Any idea that will be in this year?? Maby we will heaR something about GT5

@kaczor

Actually, this article manages to shine some light at the possibility of another Destination Playstation event which is likely to showcase some of PS3's upcoming exclusives before that of E3.

Remember, a pinch of salt...

Any chance of GT being here? Every time they showcase GT there's always an announcement of the fact before the event, let's hope we have some good surprise this time, I mean another cool video or interview to be optimistic.

I got some "news"... The date for the TGS 2010 was announced... It´s between september 16 to september 19...

So let´s hope for some new trailers... It would be nice if they give us an release date on the TGS...

This GT Academy is a waste of time. Stupid waste of time and space, get rid of it no-one cares for it and hurry up with the damn game.

Sorry I'm not impatient I'd just rather see news about Gran Turismo 5 not some silly GT Academy bull dust.

Is there anybody else on this site that has ever wondered why the March 31st 2010 was pushed back in January? Does anybody think that it was planned, in that they knew full well that they would make up a fake release date and then suddenly push it back at the last moment (in an effort to give us hope but more importantly give them more time)?

Anybody?

I am 100 Sure we will see the game either on Q3 or over that, because if it was spring or summer, we would of already see more videos and pics from PD

Fall does make more sense, but I'd rather see it out in the summer. I think it'd be awesome if they announced a release date of July or August at E3 (in June).

Edit: And in addition to a July-August release, we'd start seeing more footage starting in March with the mighty climax of footage at E3. By climax I mean serious footage, information (cars, tracks, etc) and whatever else goes on at E3!

You do realize that GT Academy has basically no effect on the game right. In fact you should be happy it exists or we probably wouldn't have gotten a TT demo at all.

Sony is suffering from serious hardware shortages right now. They won't release the game until stocks of PS3 hardware are up and when it'll be a better time to market the game. I'm pretty confident about a fall/winter 2010 release. E3 and TGS will both have big-showings for GT.

October in Japan, November in US.

Yup! The PS3 slim came out in September last year and people were ready for GT5 for March, but it didn't come out. How smart Sony was! Now they'll probably do it again this year.

They give us hope with GT5, people start buying consoles. Then they take away the release date and do it all over.

I know GT is great, but it isn't the only thing that is selling the system. Just because Sony expected GT to be released in March 2010 wasn't the reason the PS3 slim was released last September.

Well not the ONLY reason, but clearly part of the reason. Then take a look at the TT demo. That was released in December before the annoucement of the delay in Janaury. The TT demo was sort of a reinforcement that hey, you were right in buying a PS3 slim because GT5 is soon to come!

Then a month passed and we were like...oh ****. Not again. Touche, Sony.

When GT5 comes it comes...Got plenty of other games to play while i wait for it...and by plenty i mean a alot.

I wish it were the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show again. That was an awesome few days with some cool gameplay footage and surprises like McLaren (I didn't expect anything new!). That's what I want more of!

It's getting harder and harder to just blab about the same meaningless stuff as we are doing now. We need substance. Feed me, PD.
