Okay after watching the Dirt 3 trailer I see that it has Millens RedBull Hill climb car. I wonder if this is what the article is talking about and got the two games mixed up.... Thoughts?

No he didn't get the games mixed up...the author flat out pulled this story out of his a** without even playing GT5....I challenged him on it right after the article came out and never got a solid response as to what he was writing about.

I left a comment and said that the article should get pulled since it is not true. And that the editor should find a new job.:)

Everyday is April Fools day on that site when you take it seriously, like mentioned before it's a satirical site regardless of the date and April Fools day is on the first of April, not the fifth.

What is the point in publishing the article then? What a waste of time for people to visit if they are looking for truth.
I don't understand why people would even want to do something like that. What does it accomplish besides making GT5 look like a unfinished and crap game.

What part of comedy website don't you get?

That site only publishes satirical fake articles on everything relating to car, car culture and the automotive industry, etc. as a humorous response to automotive news and GT5, being the succesful driving game it is, naturally becomes just another 'target' (they've done a very funny take on GT4 before too).

Whether it's funny or not is subjective ofcourse but anyone aware of this site doesn't expect to find the truth or facts.
It's a bit like The Daily Show I guess, a satirical take on news and current events, only on sniffpetrol.com it's purely related to car culture.

That people start to take these articles seriously without taking the trouble to check the source isn't the fault of this site, it's just another example of things being taken out of their context.
If The Daily Show (which I really like by the way) does a satirical take on a current event and provides new 'facts' everybody watching it should know it isn't meant to be taken seriously, if these 'facts' are turned into supposed real facts by other media, who's to blame?

I just have to ask: Who thinks they'll find truth on a site called "sniff petrol"? I mean, just the name indicates something isn't quite right. Names like Autocar, Motortrend etc all sound like legitimate car news. Sniff petrol doesn't exactly exude "serious car news", at least it didn't to me when I first discovered it.

Anyone else notice how wrong the description is for the F2007? I read it yesterday, and it said that it was Kimi's first year in Formula One when he won the championship that year. Lewis Hamilton is also spelt 'Louis'. 0_0

C'mon PD!!

I can't believe how many people think Sony and PD are still concerned with GT5. Really?? I would be very surprised if it is even mentioned at E3. I have no expectations for updates or content at all.

Yep, that's what I think as well. GT5 is on the store shelves, there's nothing left to talk about.
We'll have to wait for the patches and some eventual DLC but that won't be mentionned at E3.

Somebody thinks that could be some news about GT5 DLC today in E3??

No, just no. Honestly, there is no reason to show anything regarding GT5 at E3, period.

This is it. 100% correct.

Sony and PD are in it for the money. It doesn't matter if they keep pushing out updates every month or if they never touch the game again; the game is on shelves, the majority of the money has been made. They have no interest in what happens with the game at this point. The ONLY reason you might continue to see updates to GT5 is to keep the fanboys on the wagon so they will shell out another $60, $70, or more when GT6 hits shelves. But let's be honest, if you're still playing GT5 at this point, you're going to buy GT6 regardless.

The simple fact is, spending additional time and resources on GT5 at this point is poor business practice. PD essentially has 3 choices: Take resources away from the development of GT6 to improve GT5 (extremely unlikely to increase profits); drop further development of GT5 to begin work on GT6 (IMO, best choice if they don't want GT6 to be another GT5... 5 year development and an unfinished product at release); or abandon the GT project entirely (highly unlikely - Kaz is in this for the bank long haul).

Sony and PD are, after all, businesses, so it would be naive to expect them to do anything that isn't in the best interest of profits.

SHIRAKAWA Akira
Why did GT5 Prologue receive Spec II and Spec III updates, then?
PD shouldn't have cared, following the same reasoning.

You might still see an update someday... but they aren't going to waste limited E3 stage time talking about it.

Except there is a sound business reason to keep spending additional time and resources to a product already sold, ever heard of the term goodwill?
Keeping existing customers happy to ensure future sales, building a reputation based on free additional content (if we indeed get any) can certainly persuade or convince costumers to stay loyal to a brand (especially if its main competitors offer paid DLC instead).
Not everyone who bought GT5 will automatically buy GT6, even those who stopped playing it alltogether might be tempted to try it again and it might restore their enthusiasm and possible affect future buying behaviour (GT6).
Stealing some thunder from its main competitor is another reason short term.
Not saying they will show something at E3 (don't think they will) but saying it's pointless from a business perspective to still invest in GT5 is a bit short sighted or uninformed as there's more to business than simply collecting cash each time.
And that's coming from someone with no real sense of business whatsoever and who's mostly cynical beyond belief but does understand it's more complicated than supplying something and lean back to watch your bank balance grow.

I agree with what you say.... the problem is Sony and PD don't seem to be able to grasp the whole concept of building customer goodwill by offering additional content and keeping an open line of communication with the customer base. Look at Turn 10, Codemasters, and SMS...they all have some sort of community manager and forums where they actually communicate with players. Turn 10 keeps things fresh with monthly DLC.

I don't think it is pointless to keep investing in GT5...but I do think it is pointless to think Sony or PD think it is worthwhile.

As I thought, no GT at E3. Anybody expecting anything on GT is just being silly at this point.

Come to think of it, has any Japanese Developer done this?

Actually there is a perfectly valid reason to update GT5 with content. 12 months after its initial release it will be re-released as a Platinum/Greatest Hits version. This will be the game's second big sales boost. Anything that adds to the content between now and then increases the perceived value of the re-release and therefore increases sales.

Additionally, GT6 will be GT5 with more content, therefore any concentration of efforts on GT5 is also work on GT6 and not an either/or case.

After such a disappointing release, with a 6 year development, I truly expect nothing from PD. Kaz doesn't get it, he gave what he had to give 1 through 4. Sorry, it's how I see it. Hope to be wrong as always :/

I feel the same way, I was able to play the previous games for hours and hours. GT5 just doesn't give me that feeling anymore. Sure the game looks fantastic and feels great especially with a wheel but after a while, it kinda dies down. Multiplayer doesn't excite as much so I try to stick more to the offline mode. Even switching it up and playing Shift 2 and Dirt 3 for a while now, is hard for me to think about GT5. Unless something "major" happens in terms of update or DLC, i'll possibly pop it back in. As of right now, I'll keep the game on the shelf when I'm in the mood to drive a car and feel "simulated"

PD is starting to remind me of Honda lately.. energetic and exciting in their beginning years and now boring and economical.

^ Sadly, Honda IS FOLLOWING ('09-now) the same Toyota's old route ('00-'11) and seems like PD is doing the same way too ('05-now)...
