My issue is not that he said Sony screwed up. I have even pointed out my own issues with them during this situation. But he declares that "it is NOT the hackers fault" for hacking.

Sony did not make them hack. I find it ridiculous for someone to point at a person who purposely wishes to steal from you and say they are blameless and then turn on the people you trusted with your assets and blame them 100%. By his rationale all identity thieves are innocent. And then to have him use Windows as an example of good security...seriously, you sympathize with that reasoning?

Did the PSN have a security weakness? Obviously, but every system does. I do not disagree with that point. I literally can't. Did, as he claims, Sony ignore it and never attempt to fix it when they found out about it? I have seen no evidence of that, not even a preponderance of circumstantial evidence.

Even if there were, not blaming the hackers for hacking is completely illogical.

Try to understand where i am coming from...please!

Hackers will be hackers, and nothing anybody says and no matter what punishments are dealt out there will always be some fool out there willing to risk punishment in order to do what they want to do. i am in no way condoning or supporting what the hackers have done-though i do understand where they are coming from....and i am NOT saying they are innocent in all of this...far from it!
They threatened Sony and the PSN, did Sony do all they could to prevent this from happening? the PSN is down and no sign of it coming back any time soon, so i would assume they did not, and to top it all off they are saying they will attack it again as soon as it is back up.
If i kick you off a cliff blindfolded i don't need to lift the blind fold to see if you fell, so why do i need to look for/provide evidence?! they said they were going to do it and according to Sony-it's down due to "outside intrusion".

What i find so unbelievable in all of this is that a company with who knows what kind of technology at their disposal-can be brought down by independents who don't have anywhere near the resources that Sony do...this is like a fly kicking the crap out of the local bad-arsed elephant.

Sony's fault pure and simple.

We are way off topic for this thread (GT5 News).

Would you mind moving this conversation to the appropriate thread so we don't risk moderator trouble?

And to help try and get the thread back to GT5 stuff I have an announcement.

Yesterday, for the very first time, I bought and drove a bunch of Premium supercars in GT5. They were:

Ferrari 599
Ferrari F430
Ferrari F40
Ferrari SP1
Ferrari Enzo
Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SuperVeloce
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
McLaren Mercedes SLR
McLaren F1
McLaren MP4-C12
Ford GT 06
Zonda R

I know...I'm only 6 months too late

Did a little non-scientific test. Set a benchmarh at the Nurb GP circuit with a GT-R Spec V and none of them, out of three laps, were able to beat it bar the Zonda R!*

Really surprised at how manic it is to drive the MP4-C12 and how easy it was to control the SLR and SLS AMG.

*All using a DS3, by the way.

Okay after watching the Dirt 3 trailer I see that it has Millens RedBull Hill climb car. I wonder if this is what the article is talking about and got the two games mixed up.... Thoughts?

Impossible. I think Pikes Peak, like El Capitan, got cut from GT5 at last minute...

Dirt 3 doesn't have Pikes Peak either.

The Lightweight K-Cup (Eifel-Kart) online challenge event just became my new grinding track for credits.. as long as it remains open of course.

It is only 3 laps and the prize is $101,700 which can be done in less than 3'6" if you race good. It's a much more fun track to race at than the boring Indy Speedway imo.

I'd be surprised if they didn't include the GT5 hero car convertible model in the update:

Thought I'd post some news of some description which got me a little excited... Alfa's Balocco Test Track and more Fiat Group Cars??? Is this the DLC we've been hearing about?

Has anyone heard anything else about this? Seems like BS to me, although I want it to be real soooooo bad.

First sentance is strange.

There was delight amongst Italian car fans this week with news that Alfa Romeo’s famous Balocco test track is to star in the next version of Gran Turismo 5.
Further details of GT5’s forthcoming ‘Car Launch’ pack are scarce but it’s believed that the new add-on will also include a Ferrari Event stage with special ‘Jethro Bovingdon mode’ which allows players to score points based on how badly they kerb the wheels on the test car and how many swear words they say in the 30 seconds thereafter.

However, Gran Turismo sources also report that players who dare to criticise the actual car will be banned from playing the Ferrari level again.

I call BS. Just my opinion but what a blah track.

Thought it looked too good to be true. Definitely picked up the sarcasm, but I;m just too obsessed with Alfa Romeo not to get excited about something like that

Sniffpetrol is a satirical automotive news website.

You mean this wasn't true? :sly:

This is a truly funny website but should carry a language warning.

Indeed, anything written on this site isn't to be taken seriously or seen as a fact.
It is very funny though and the language used is part of the fun in my opinion (the guy running this site also writes for Evo Magazine and is the script editor for the Top Gear television show).

No one thought to suggest this is an April fools joke? Look at the date.

Everyday is April Fools day on that site when you take it seriously, like mentioned before it's a satirical site regardless of the date and April Fools day is on the first of April, not the fifth.
