How did I miss that?:

Anyone else missed it? (Of course I mean the circles, they indicate how much pressure there is on tyres, looks like a pathetic try at replicating that, what Turn 10 is doing for a long time now)

They're a great tool for learning tyre preservation - I mentioned them in the physics (GT/FM) thread a while back as a device for indicating aerodynamic lift.

In-race start menu, tyre load indicators (I think - something similar if not), for anyone who wants to use them.

I can imagine them being usefull. I just had a feeling I discovered something new lol.

I'll just repeat that it is a standalone application that doesn't require GT5 to run and, as such, you should not expect anything in GT5 for doing so.

You didn't get to keep the 370Z Academy Road Car or the 370Z Academy Tuned Car from the last standalone GT Academy application...

But Famine, just curious, how did people go about getting the 370Z Academy Tuned Car? If they didn't get it from the app, then how so?

It's in GT5. You get it from a level 12 ticket.

Or rather the road car is. The Tuned version hasn't been in anything other than the GT Academy download - "Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Challenge" - from December 2009.

Umm, the tuned one is actually in GT5.

It's about 100hp down. Mind you it's lighter than the road car.

Edit: Actually, it's neither really, is it? It's above the level of the stock 370Z (Fairlady Z Z34 '08) road car, which the GT5 Time Trial 370Z GT Academy car pretty much was, but not really up at the power of the Tuned either. Bizarre - I'd never really considered it before.

Look at that, please!
Nismo Leaf RC in GT5. May be)
This video is as if done in Gran Turismo 5! Really! 00:11, 00:14...on 00:22!
Sorry for my English :)

Hmmm, it could just be some pre-rendered thingy, but much of the style (particularly the backgrounds) and lighting etc. definitely do scream GT5. Which is interesting, because, if it is GT5, there were new locations there!

Agreed.
It looks a lot like GT5 but it is not GT5.
Lighting and some camera movements seem to be straight out of the game.
The source however proves it's not from the game and that it's just a pretty cool CGI rendering.
Sadly, we won't get anything out of this trailer into GT5 :(

It's possible PD put it together for them. It's not unknown for them to do "CGI" stuff that is beyond the current capabilities of the hardware their current game is running on. GT1's intro, for example.

I'm not saying it's the case, but it certainly doesn't look "nothing" like GT5. If nothing else, it's clearly heavily (stylistically) inspired by it. In fact I would go so far as to say that the art techniques in constructing the environments are almost a hallmark of PD, and that video shows that same "hallmark" in abundance. Again, it might be a coincidence / case of influence, but it still looks like a GT game.
The only things that really stand out are the lighting on the wheels, and the texture work (and all the incidental screen effects, but they're just gloss).

It's also over a year old, not that that changes anything.

Thats not GT5. Doesn't have that style or that quality GT5 teasers usually do.

Many parts of it certainly looks like it has the PD touch, considering their relationship I wouldn't be the slightest surprised if PD assisted in some of the video. Other parts of the video are very different from what PD does and isn't as good.
