The track is fine the way it is...just need to fix the last turn and that's all, maybe a few texture updates. At least it wasn't ported to look like...Grand Valley Speedway, Trial Mountain Circuit, and Cote de Azur. :yuck:

Never been there, but I'll pay if I gotta. The $/hr.-of-enjoyment beats most things aside from recreational drugs.

but would you be willing to pay the amount of money you did for Spa? Even if it had all the varieties of Motegi, including the Oval, I still find it odd to charge us, the way the track looks now. If they made better textures to it before we get it in GT5, however, I see no cause to keep on moaning about it :)

Why not charge for Motegi? It would only make sense. Just because of some low-texture areas it means we should have it for free?

I'd pay 4-5 USD on it. :) Regardless of silly 'low-textures', I actually pay attention to the road.

I find the "Premium" and "Standard" terminalogy of the tracks unnecessary. Its fine with the cars since is official, but its really annoying when it comes to tracks.

As far as Motegi goes, I don't care about texture details in an obscure setting. I pretty much dismiss some of the odd textures at Spa as well as the low-res decals at the Ring and certain trcks so I'm hardly bothered by them.

You see. I love cars, I love to take them to places to test drive them. Such as the alps track. BUT. I also like to watch the scenery. Scenery is what also catches the photographers eyes. PD needs to also pay attention to track's scenery, not only cars. Its weird to see a premium car in such a non well designed track with no strangth to its scenery.

Take a good look at this photo. Ignore the moto bikes and cars, look at only the scenery.

Now you tell me that isn't beautiful. The trees have life in them, PD needs to work on that especially. Look how bright that looks. Honestly who wouldn't want to take a photo of that with the cars. :)

Indeed, if you think the scenery doesn't matter play some of the pCARS beta tracks, which usually first launch in an alpha state with either none or very limited scenery. They're very boring to race on to start with because there is nothing to look at, or what is there are just basic placeholders.

That's an extreme example of course because no tracks are as unfinished or rough as that in GT5 (As they shouldn't be, it's a finished product) but it just shows that scenery is very important and every lap I drive on Motegi I can't help but be drawn to the horrid textures on the scenery.

I think the poor trackside details are more down to the premium cars eating up availablesystem resources, with their high poly counts, rather than a lack of ability by PD artists to create vibrant, lifelike enviroments. Looking at the cars and the (sometimes) god-tier lighting, I'm hopeful that the enviroments can be majorily improved on new hardware.

theres certainly no lack of ability at PD. It´s got to be another reason why they don´t do the best they could, i don´t know what it is, maybe they are just lazy. Wich i dig because so am i:dopey:

I don´t see your point, other tracks look bad even if your all alone in a standard car on them. So it can´t be the premium cars...

I think we are going to be blown away by what the PS4 will be capable of. I hope it's as big a leap forward as the PS3 was over the PS2. And I agree, PD is very capable of producing beautiful environments. This was most evident in GT4. All the rally tracks. Gorgeous. And that was on PS2 hardware.

Spa has some shocking textures too. The whole area to the left of the run down to eau rouge, with the Coca Cola signs, is straight out of a ps1 game.
I do feel Motegi should have been in gt5 from the outset, but I won't let a few washed out textures affect my decision to buy it or not.

sinbad

Hmm ill go back and look at spa for that

Yeah, they're obviously lazy

The tracks will be designed for the "worst-case scenario", so the detail in them will be that achievable with a full grid of Premiums, no more. Even that's not enough for some tracks (e.g. London, which also has a diminished grid size). It doesn't matter what car you use, or how many cars there are on track, you can't add detail to the track that was never planned to be there in the first place, without replacing the entire circuit.

Notice that London now has adaptive LoD, in that the spectators etc. disappear if there are too many cars on track, but that's only because it was such a poor performer in the first place; it was built for Prologue (which only has Premiums), which has less going on, but it was still a pig there. That's still only removing detail, but it proves adaptive schemes are possible in GT5 (not lazy).

PD have always focused on the cars, to the detriment of the scenery, GT2 was worse in many respects in that way. I don't mind it so much when I'm racing, but a high detail model for photos etc. would be cool. However, that is something that would have to have been planned for.
I'm not saying PD don't have more detailed track models than are present in GT5 (I hope they do, if only to save time for the "next generation"), but swapping out all the tracks in the game for adaptive versions would require quite an update. Although, if they were going to do this, you'd think the DLC tracks would use it - maybe there's a required infrastructure / file structure change that precludes mixing the two circuit "types" in the same game at this point.

So, as others have said, the improvements that GT4 brought over GT3 on the PS2 may also be possible with GT6 over GT5 on the PS3.

I do have a G27 aswell, so I have the opportunity to use the H-shifter on a car that comes with an H-shifter like the 370Z, I didn´t want to accuse anybody of cheating if they have no other opportunity, like using Controler or another Wheel that doesn´t come with an H-shift.

But if you have a G27 and use the paddles in this TT on Academy, I´m sorry again: That´s cheating!

Once again, where in the official rules does it say "do not use paddle shifters?" Stop trying to start a fight. You need to stop talking.

you do realize every single console is outshined when they are released by the latest PC, that most of GT5's flaws (at least 95%) don't have anything to do with the PS3 itself, and that there's always going to be compromises in a console game (GT5 could have 32 cars on track, but that means sacrifices)?

For example there's no technical reasons why motegi has such low res textures, or the fact lightning could be much better there like other GT5 tracks. Sure it'd look better in a ps4 just by the game being in true 1080p (gt5 isn't) and adding filters, but it isn't much of an improvement anyway.

I saw pCARS's coast area, and I'll tell you this I was AMAZED. O_O That's how I want to feel towards GT6's scenery when its shown. :)

That's the number 1 thing that amazes me most on pCARS. That Coastal Road, plus there's another road that looks great, the one with a more "european" look. Don't know its name now. But I agree with Griffith500, the coastal one reminds me a lot about the first NFS game, the same idea with great graphics.

Agreed. :)👍 I just love the work they put into making it, it blows me away.

I wasn't talking about offical rules, just pointing out my opinion. You don't have to take it all personal, since it wasn't. Might need to learn to accept the opinions of others.

I have a right to take offense when you accuse me, specifically, of cheating. "Yes, and I'll have 'the end of the conversation' for 300, Alex."

But you don't have the right to tell me I need to stop talking. I take offense on that, because this was very well a personal attack. While what I did wasn't specifically on you but on everyone else, who took advantage by using paddles. Yet no one else seemed to care but you.

In the event we even get the Oval with the other configurations of Twin Ring Motegi (if it comes that is), who would be up for some FGT racing? The car is amazingly fun around Indy and going off the snappy fun it was on the Oval in GT4, I hope for more of the same.

I'm totally in, I've never raced in an online lobby with FGTs at Indy but it would be super fun. Even more-so at Motegi because that track would require some finesse.

Has anyone in here completed the GT Academy? Are we getting Motegi as a gift from completing that event? I haven't finished it yet and I want to know, thanks!

No mention of the track only the car
