Something tells me GT5 won't be on the new format.

The PS3 has somehow been patched and updated to handle every, single BD revision that other hardware couldn't handle. Wouldn't surprise me if it again was the case. That is just my opinion. Please don't crucify me for it!

I appreciate your optimism, but many of us, including myself were under the same assumption last year. In fact, I recall many of us using the same puzzle analagy!

Anyways, I'm off to accepting the worst case scenerio so in case of fortune and other luxuries GT decides to offer, I'll be pleseantly surprised, not overwhelmed with unprooven statements and then left dissapointed.

Nope, both cars are moving forward on the Fuji front stretch/pit lane. At 1:17, where you said the cars shadow was the same as the Toyota's, the Italia's shadow is cast in front of the car. In the Toyota video, the car is moving the same direction on the same straight, and the shadow is cast behind the the car.

Yeah your right. The rest of the Toyota vid the shadows are back to normal. I'm not sure.

The new format, called BDXL, goes three to four layers deep on the disc and requires a more powerful laser.

So it'll only work if Sony had the foresight to overspec the laser diode, among other things. They did pro-actively spec the PS3 with HDMI 1.3; but that was probably already finalised by then, given they were both "released" at the same time.

Not to go offtopic hear but apparently mimiximax who has been giving us those videos ,this name is actually a name of a memmber of this site but and yes I am not sure if both are the same guy(but c'mon how many people have a name like that )
but if they are the same and he is a memmber than why doen't he say so we can ask him some stuff about the demo.

He is legit. I just PMed him earlier to say thanks for the videos. I didn't want to harass him and I don't think there's anything else I want to know. But I'm sure he wont mind if you ask him some questions.

This is just a game and we live in Real world skip your dream dreams never comes to real.

Ever meet anyone who takes their work seriously before? I put out stuff every day that I don't feel is good enough, but client expectations vs realism prevent me from taking months to perfect something the client wants two hours after requesting it.

And Kaz has said before that he won't be happy until current technology can catch up to movie-quality CGI.

I know from looking at many other games that many developers are happy pushing out crap (I just finished renting Score International Baja 1000, so I know), but other people wish to be able to do more than the technology allows for, and will thus never be happy. It is the difference between high quality titles and shovelware that can turn a profit at 100,000 copies sold.

If Kaz didn't think this way Gran Turismo would not be what we have come to love.

Probably because he knows better. I have been around this site long enough to know that if I had any kind of special info that I would be better off not revealing that I was the one that had it.

BTW Famine did reveal the car, I think it was an Aston Martin? Edit: I think I got that wrong.

We've already seen Aston in GT5. Remember the Christmas day GT5 trailer from Hong Kong? It showed an Aston Martin DB9 at Le Sarthe.

I respectfully disagree with Famine. I am sure he well informed but after google-ing (for a long time), the deal between Aston and MS is really small. If anything PD dropped Aston because they wanted more money or thought that Lambo and Bugatti were better use of the money they had available and as a result dropped Aston.

From what I've seen tyres get deformed and can also tear & shred during massive crashes like in NASAR, the deformation of super-cars is as real as it gets. I've also seen rain in action and it truly blew me away. The individual droplets of rain pouring down on the windshield actually cast shadows on the top of the dashboard and the physics during rainy conditions become ultra hard (as in extremely real in simulating driving on a wet road).

In WRC the tracks gradually deform from your tyres and it stays that way all in real-time. When it starts to rain the ground gradually becomes very muddy causing it to stick to the side of the car and it also builds up on your tyres. Barriers are fully deformable and you can fly well off the course, not to mention that wipers can be activated to wipe off mud on your windshield.

Lighting has been greatly improved and the graphics of every track in the game has been improved 20x's over from the current build you guys are seeing on mimiximax's YT channel, PD have also over come those fuzzy shadow problems. The showroom looks very different (but it's only a test) and the textures within every cars cockpit have been vastly improved, hand cross over animations have come back, but this time the animations look very solid and incredibly real.

Animations for gear shifting looks 10x's better and there's no more hand clipping with the steering wheel. There's now a new animation for scrolling down windows which brings a new element of PD's GT5 engine, 'dynamic sound' meaning PD can accurately capture the sound of a car from the inside with the windows scrolled down having sound coming in from the outside at the same time. Cars zooming by with your windows scrolled down sounds very very real and during rainy conditions rain can enter your car if your windows are scrolled down (that just blew me away seriously).

Grass can tear and flick up in the air and muddy grass gets stuck on your tyres and suspension. During night races rain can still be seen with your headlights reflecting light off of the rain drops. Animations for switching you wipers on have also been added.

PS-Move support has been added for pit stops and rough driving animations have been added such as the drivers hands and arms shaking (this feature is greatly shown off in WRC).

There's tons of more info and it's coming soon. The game is 97% complete.

Umm this isn't an April fools joke it's for real, and I don't need to tell you who I am. I saw of this about 2 weeks ago but certain features such as window scrolling may be removed or they might become an option.

How is this any different from Famine saying he knows of a certain car we haven't seen before, being in the game? Famine couldn't give us an answer because he wanted to keep his contact happy and to not get anyone in trouble. Only difference I see is that Famine is established here, and this guy is new. Not everyone who has connections or knows some insight about GT5, is a member here, people. What you're all saying is that unless you prove anything, you're a liar and need to be banned. This isn't NeoGaf guys, we're people here.
My suggestion to GrandCobra would be to inform Jordan of this info and where he got it from, then let Jordan decide

There's quite a difference between one car as Famine is promising, and a host of incredible stuff being suggested by GC.

But it's all good: when we see everything that GC has said is in the game, he can come back here and earn his praise.

I do expect a quantum jump in GT5 from what we have seen so far, which is all really old Prologue era stuff

Just by how much, remains to be seen. 150 guys working flat out for a few years can accomplish a lot on a powerful PS3...
Kaz did say GT5 will break video game standards and redefine the racing/driving game genre he helped to create, but I guess we didn't expect by how much

GrandCobra, im sure youre right. Im just wondering, if you saw that 2 weeks ago, thats about the same time as the new "demo" was leaked to us. That didnt have many of those features. Noone else have mentioned anything about this, so one can assume youre PD employe on a very high lvl right?

If its just something you "saw" browsing shop-windows in your local town then theres nothing wrong in revealing where you got the info from.

People like Famine are only here to cause a big stir in the thread. Look If your gonna reveal something then do it and don't stir people up, and learn how to tease as well because saying a new car will be revealed isn't even teasing.

Your meant to tease the company of that car in some way, not say a cars coming and then run away, and what are you scared of if you reveal it? Yamauchi lol. Sony won't come after you because they know coming after someone revealing things about a video game is just stupid.

If I had inside knowledge I would reveal everything heck! I would reveal Sony's entire E3 press conference if I knew about it.

If he is legit than I'm sorry, but what he seems to know seems like someone that is very in the know about stuff at PD. But judging by a few of his past posts he had just as many questions about some features as the rest of us, so if he could know so much now, just wondering what has changed.

That "new demo" was not actually new. It's just a collaboration of all the demo's we have seen over the last 6 months. Doesn't mean they weren't old by the time we first saw them.

It all does sounds quite questionable. I would have thought if that info was permittable to be leaked then why can't it be known at what such event 2 weeks ago was this at? I mean its not like it matters now it was two weeks ago and is gone.

Some of what he said I think sounds pretty solid as far as what my expectations are for the game beyond prologue quality. But other bits are like wow that sounds awesome but makes the whole post a bit unbelieveable to a degree.

I guess time will tell.

What would be nice if an official source actually came fourth a gave a small taste of this current iteration of the game just to shut alot of the hear say that goes on while we wait. Not to mention more actual facts to talk about.
