GC is prepared to tell us what part of Sony he works for and how old he is? That's a recipe for getting fired. I can't believe someone would disclose both that information on the fly without fear.

Why exactly would that get you fired? I would have thought dislcosing all those game facts would have been worse.

Lies or not, he got what he wanted. People are already believing him, even if it's only a few.

Look, i would love this to be true, but just do one thing: just prove to Jordan you're really who you claim to be.

Why would someone that submitted questions for the motortrend interview now have inside info? First just a fan and now all of a sudden an insider?

Leichestershire... that's England right? Does SOE even have an office there?

I mean, lot's of doubt. It's pretty reasonable right now that everyone wants to doubt you.

Just prove it to anyone and we can move on with the chit chat.

I'm not saying FM3 has that feature. I'm saying it's in the same category as the other little details that Kaz. thought Turn10 spent too much time on instead of the core gameplay.

Ah ok. But details in FM3? hmm I can´t find any details there... It´s a rushed incomplete game for me... Anyway it´s a lot of fun, Just played at least 20-30 hrs and I think I´m at 12-15% now... And then after finishing the offline part, there comes the online part

I don´t wan´t to imagine how much time we will spent with GT5 :nervous: I´m sure it will take at least 1-2 years to get bored... even GT5P took 1/2-1 year till it get´s really boring...

About those tracks, Yamauchi only showed me a very up to date build of the Nuremberg

Surely you meant Nürburgring. Nuremberg is no where near the Nürburg castle, or the Nürburgring. There is a track in Nuremberg, however to avoid confusion, it's called the Norisring.

But, other than than, I hope you're right, and curse me for being ever the optimist... I believe you.

By details, Kaz. referred to all the little damage models, mods, & everything that they "focused on more than the gameplay".

I think this GrandCobra guy mistaken PD's studio and the studio where TDU2 is being developped.
So far only in TDU 1, you were able to move your windows (that was awsome btw) but i really doubt PD would think about including this in the game, its about racing, and during races you dont give a **** about your windows...

OK, well when my Heep (regularly :D) picks up a new and strange noise in its front end, I have a tendancy of rolling down my window and trying to listen for where the noise is coming from. I know I'm not racing, but I'd do the same thing racing an M3 with a decent (30 second) lead on Nurburgring. Nothing wrong with dropping a few km/h for a quick diagnostic check; Mechanics can hear things mere mortals cannot. ;)

Rolling down the windows wouldn't be that unnecessary if the mechanical and aural data was accurate(ish), but I'm guessing that we're not going to be exposed to any 2 point clicking noises from a hosed front wheel bearing in Gran Turismo 5.

That's where I want to see the level of mechanical realism at. If I feel a hit in my force-feedback wheel and afterwards experience a front-wheel shake, rolling down my window to hear what's up would be just another level. With 7.1 or 9.2 surround, even headphones, that would be AWESOME. Based on the sound you could attempt to drive as to not damage further what you suspect is broken.

I don't see why that's not possible, personally, and maybe that's why KY wants to be able to roll down a window.

Thanks GrandCobra, by the way. Even if that information you're spouting isn't 100% correct, it still got me thinking about the things that will be possible with future simulators. 👍

Is there a Leicestershire Stateside?

I thought the car selection in GTP was pretty good and still keeps me interested the only thing I got bored of quickly was the tracks, doing one backwards or a different variant didn't make it feel much different at all. I just hope the track selection in the full release is enough to keep me going for at least 2-3 yrs. As I know the multitude of cars will.

Thats what I got bored with first in GT4 too, yes there were plenty of tracks but it never felt like enough.

I find it rather "amazing" that he was asking about what the trailer that was in the God of War 3 disc, & then less than a week later, he's magically seen all this information about windows & rain.

Or that when he joined, he was 17/18 & now he's suddenly telling us that he was 26 at the youngest when joined in October. Or maybe it was when he was just as curious we were about all these Sony announcements/press releases about GT5, but now he works for Sony & has seen GT5.

Sorry, there's too many holes thanks to his previous posts from Jan. to when he joined.

Fair enough, the point you stated is correct, I admit it !
On the other, being a mechanical engineer and several times being involved in a race environment (preparing and racing the car) three things are coming up with what you are saying.

First, about normal cars (production cars i mean) it could be a possibility to scroll down the window and quickly check some wired sound, but if this work on a normal road or even on the nurb, on other tracks which other cars/public noise it's just impossible, you can only hear exhausts.

Second, as a race driver, you are wearing an helmet with radio hearplugs, and even if you can usually detect the sound of an air bubble circulating inside the oil pump, you wont hear anything, trust me.

Third, by having experienced it, when a problem comes from your tire, if during normal drive (e.g. drive to office) the sound is more important than the feedback on the steering wheel, during race condition, due to car setups and customisation, a small problem at the wheel, you will straight feel it on your hands.
Also it would be more accurate from PD to actually make the controller vibrate(dualshock)/oscillate(stearing wheel) than just display a sound and hope the player will hear it.

But not to put you down, i admit that improved game sound (surround also) would definetly had a huge amount of immersion at the game !!!

Agree with all of the above. 👍 I'm not an engineer, but as a millwright I make them look good on a daily basis. ;)

The sound would of course be in conjunction with the force-feedback. Just to add immersion, eh! :)

I didn't really think about the race-helmet since I wasn't really thinking about a crowded race-track environment. That would definitely cut down on what you could effectively hear out of the window and having 12, 600HP cars surrounding you wouldn't let you hear a darn thing other than the sweet sounds of internal combustion engines. :dopey:

I just hope the recent events don't end up encoraging lurkers to create an account and start playing "nostradamus" for a quick laugh with us.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but on Famitsu's homepage on the right hand side bar there is a link to a Gran Turismo blog by none other than Yamauchi himself. Unfortunately, the link does not seem to be up and running yet and you get taken to a completely unrelated blog if you click on it. Nevertheless, it indicates that the boys and girls at PD may be gearing up for a publicity push before the release.

This is interesting to me, because the Nurburgring - yes, it took me a few times to memorize the name too - is a major testing course for car makers, since it seems to have every road feature that exists.

OK, everything GrandCobra said is at least feasible, and we have seen already in other games, with the exception of tyre shredding to the best of my knowledge.

I find the comments about "rolling" down the window, (not quite sure how you scroll down a window, I'm originally from Loughborough and I think we speak pretty similar to those a few miles away in Leicester UK) to be the most interesting, we already know that the GT sound synthesizer is capable of altering the sound based upon a Cockpit or outside view of the car, even from the bumper view to the reverse view, so altering the sound effects applied whilst in the cockpit view with the window up or down is feasible.

What I do doubt is animation for rolling down the window, as that would require mapping the location of the buttons or handles and glass location and movement for every car, which sounds like a massive task for very little benefit, although the window glass may have been mapped for damage, or just for transparency in the model itself.

Having said that, I thought I read somewhere that someone had screenshots of a car with windows up and another screenshot of the same car with the window down, which would definitely help to back up GrandCobra's information. If they could post them it would be most appreciated.

Also he may be using random age and location to mask his real identity, someone who maintains GTPlanet could most likely look at his IP and see if he posted or viewed the site from his work perhaps, actually it would be pretty interesting to know the number of hits from official Sony IP's, but that probably breaks all sorts of privacy rules.

Hey, even Jay Leno, perhaps the biggest gearhead ever lived, called Nurburgring (Nordschelife), Nuremberg-ring in this video (at around 6:05) :)

This is also true, I too believe console wise there is no other title that compares to GT. But regardless of how good it is if there isn't a market deemed big enough in the future then there would be no push to make such a game. But that should never happen. All I know is there is no other game I have anticipated more than this one.

And like many may have done, the only reason I got a PS in the first place was for GT alone.

Amen, Brother! I own only one PS3 game (and two G25s:sly:) and that is GT5:P (though, hopefully I'll own two soon). Hehe, has anyone ever felt like the Prologue abbreviation is sticking it's tongue out?

...and I cringed when I heard that too.

But, that's why I explain it in detail, to educate.

...and to make things more confusing, a "Nuremberg-Ring" did really exist in Germany. It´s a city course in the town of Nuremberg (known correctly as Noris-Ring) and is driven beside others in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) calendar...:sly:
Didn´t look very spectacular, but there´s a lot of amazing DTM videos showing this circuit on YouTube....

Wow all that stuff sounds amazing GrandCobra, but then I went and read some of your previous posts:

If any of you have bought God Of War 3 in the UK could you guys please upload the new GT5 trailer, Sony said the GT5 trailer in the UK version of GOW3 is different to one in the US version.

I just hope no ones forgotten about it, this could be our chance of seeing something new as Sony said there'll be a 'special' trailer in the European and UK versions of GOW3.

Please someone upload it!!

OK so the European version doesn't have a trailer, so then what's the special version Sony's referring to?

They're obviously talking about a new GT5 trailer but when? this is getting really annoying now.

Yet you work for Sony?
Not sure why you would pull a stunt like this...👎

Had me going for a while.

Sounded very professional and well written.

Also sounded quite legit.

But so did obama.

GrandCobra, you got you're two page of visibility:tdown:,now I really propose to Jordan to cancel the last two pages!!ridiculous

GrandCobra
Hi I have a message from the year 2355 and I'm currently 456 years old. During the wait for GT5 I've travelled to 105 star systems and our government has made treaty's with many many alien species.

Seems he is actually 111 and was born in 1899 and can travel to the future too... /sigh

If he's telling the truth there really is no way for us to find out (unless he contacts Jordan); it does sound too good to be true, but there is no need to hang the guy for it. Listen, if what he said are lies...well, that's what happens when there is a large community actively waiting for GT news: just let it slide. However, if he's not lying...well, what more can I say.

Sometimes though we jump to conclusions way too eagerly, even when things seem to add up...

If PD read GrandCobra's comments, they we probably put the development back further whilst they try to implement all that stuff.

Anyway if it is true, it;s a clear breech of NDA I suspect, as I can't imagine PD wanting their secret stuff out in the wild before they show us.

I'm certain the youtube vids are not the final product, but I can't believe they have a build that is 20x better.
