Maybe it´s SSD hard drives?

Small correction, it's a SSD. There is no "hard drive" in that phrase. It's actually a common mistake, so don't worry about it.

Also, solid state drives are WAAAAAY to expensive still. Costs over 120 dollars for about 64gigs of memory.

What would be the point of a SSD anyway? Its not like the PS3 gets treated rough etc? Or are they faster aswell?.. I just thought they were tougher and smaller

They are the same size, but they are a lot faster since it is flash based. It's basically a giant thumb/flash drive. Hard drives actually have metal plates that spin, that have the data on them. Since the hard drive needs to spin, taking data from it is "slow", but if you used a SDD/flash drive since it is all electronic, it gets the data a lot faster.

But anyway, I'm sure it wont be a SSD in the new ps3.

Gah... I can't wait for E3. I don't care for the microsoft press conferance today!

I think, given the "Premium" tag is being thrown around more, and applies to a track now, that I'm actually more concerned with a solid description of what that entails, even more so than a solid release date. If a "Premium" track means night/day and/or weather, cool; if "Premium" means "this was made specially for GT5", while non-Premiums are essentially lifted from GT4 and given a slight visual makeover, I'll be disappointed. Same applies to the cars; if "Premium" is a nod to damage, I'm still going to wonder why they'd only have around 2/10 of the lineup accepting more serious damage, given the 5 years they've had to work on this. That and I imagine online races between Premium and non-Premium could end up badly.

Ideally, if this is the case, I would hope that after the game is released, we'd get DLC on a regular basis slowly putting everything to the same level. Advertising extensive damage but not having it across the board is a bit misleading.

To all the guys that only follow GT5 on GTPlanet, but would like a sweet break, here's the new and awesome TDU2 trailer!(not saying the game will be awesome in all respects, but the trailer is pretty damn cool!)👍:)
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-test-drive/101219
p.s. HD versions on youtube are badly compressed with artifacts and stuff, so watch this one instead.
p.p.s. Here's a little comparison between the first game and the sequel(scenes from the 3rd trailer).
Some things are just slightly better, but some(like lighting, water, draw distance etc) are epically better!👍 woooot!:D

I can hardly imagine they would distinguish "warmed over" GT4 content by naming it Standard and the newly created ones as Premium, there's gotta be a difference in content to justify a different name.
Otherwise why create attention to this fact when it basically does the same thing?
Premium for tracks could perhaps mean day/night cycles whilst Premium for cars could mean difference in damage modelling ( for the love of God, don't let it be excluding interior view for some cars.......).

I wish I could play GT4.

Looks so horrid on the PS3 + HD TV, I can not stand it.

I set up the PS3 to upscale it to 1080p and it looks better than ever with ps2. Also if i feed TV with 576p picture the scaler does ok job (TV was the top of the line from sony when i got it ; 46z5500)

Oh, I hope so, this is why I'd like confirmation on the subject. Interiors *should* be modelled, since we can see them from the outside anyways, so I'm still being optimistic that every car will have one. Excluding that view on some cars seems like a really, really stupid idea.

I'm wondering if the Premuim cars will be the ones that are not on the PSP version and thus making them PS3 exclusive and non transferable?

The PSP one had a shed load of cars didnt it?

Premium cars should be those with full damage model, referring to an interview with Kaz some months ago. As far as I know ALL race cars will be also "premium cars" and additionally some producation cars will also be flagged as "premium".

This whole discussion could be settled a long time ago if PD had just confirmed it one way or the other.
And I agree that apart from maybe some prototypes ( GT-R Proto for example ) a limited ( or non-existent is a better word ) interior view on a whole bunch of cars would be a big disappointment for me.......
But I'm hopeful we get some info on this matter in the next coming days ( although not confirming a certain aspect is hardly a good sign in general ).

I know the race cars will be premium and damage apparently you can smash the Nascars to bits.

I just don't undertand why some production cars will have damage and others wont. If your all in the same race and some can be damaged and others cant it will be worse than having no damage at all IMO.

Well we only have just over 24hrs to find out hopefully.

Maybe you can turn damage to a lesser level, then all production cars, despite or being Premium or not would feature the same level of damage. And then, you can have events exclusively designed to feature only Premium production cars in spetacular crashes. Who knows?

24hs and counting...

First, ALL cars will of course have a mechanical damage model ...so in a race with premium and non-premium cars, it's just the optical thing that's missing.

And second, the problem with non-premium production cars is the licensing, some manufacturers allowed PD to make their cars "premium" and others didn't ...I think that we already saw some Dodge cars flagged as "premium" so there sure are more manufacturers with premium production cars in GT5 :>

Maybe the production cars we see marked as Premium can be converted into race cars that will have the full damage model (like we've seen on the WRC cars etc.) Example: The Production Corvette ZR-1 can probably be converted into the GT Spec you seen at Le Mans over the weekend.

But that's just me only guessing.

Your right, this is the frustraiting thing with PD/Sony.

They let that press release appear on their Japanese Website last year just after E3 with the list of features. E.G. Premium cars and also the 20 track and 70 location bits.

They must have realised after that there was huge confusion over it all. This was after all info they actually supplied themselves ( not specualtion ) and then failed to qualify what any of it meant??

It would have halved the ammount of pages on a lot of these threads.

You are almost lead to believe Sony and PD are actually enjoying abusing their power to confuse or it's an intentional strategy to stop us all uniting for a common cause.
Divide and conquer seems to be their tactic, although ofcourse this is all probably just incompetence or at least accidental....;)

Nope, won't be that; the GTbyCitroen, ZR-1, and V-Spec have all been seen as "Premium", and they were all present in the PSP version.

Say what you will about Turn 10, but one area they undoubtedly excel at is actually interacting with their community. If we got that from PD, we'd have a lot more answers now. The Jalopnik F3 car pack is a good example; that type of work with the community is unheard of elsewhere in the industry.

I hope they include HC mode to all versions of the game this time.
Well, they won't, there's only gonna be a standard mode, but with the aids off, it's supposed to be good. Not quite a sim, but miles better than the standard mode from the first game. Also, there's still the whole beta testing faze to go through, and Eden really listens and cares what community says ,so if enough people(beta testers) complain that it's perhaps too arcadey, they will do something about it.
Until then, read this if you haven't already. It's a report from the head of the TDUCentral forum site(equivalent to GTPlanet for GT) who was invited to test the game at the Eden studios.(again equivalent of our Jordan here being invited to PD offices)👍

Yes it look so smooth, game play in cockpit looks crazy fast! Also I love the hood view! I hope ALL cars in GT5 will have hood view, I hate ROOF view! But PD should keep both to make every fan happy

+1^^
Although I will probably play it 99% from the awesome cockpit view, decent hood view is a must, and this one seems to be fine.👍
p.s. That roof view sucked hard.

If you're refering to the 908 video, the "hood" view is, in fact, roof view. It just happens to have a low roof and short hood/bonnet.
