Ok is everyone happy now. Its VERY VERY clear. Standard cars will NOT have a cockpit view. Got it? Good.

Happy? No, actually I'm kinda pissed, the quality difference between "Premium" and "Standard" is kinda big judging from the screenshots. For me GT5 has only 200 cars and the rest is GTHD added to it.

PD botched this one big time IMO.

Why not have 400 or 500 cars that are "premium" and then that's it.

Those other 800 cars are just there for the sake of numbers, nobody is gonna drive them much.

I agree I rather have like 300-500 premium cars only than 800 standard cars + only 200 premium. No one is going to drive over half the standard cars anyway (like in GT4) so what the point of upgrading them all. It just does not make sense. Oh well, since we are used to waiting I guess the wait for GT6 starts now. :nervous:

Jesus! I could have accepted the "no cockpits on standard cars", but now it looks like the standard cars are also straight out of GT4! 👎

I guess I have to buy other systems to supplement this extreme let down after 5 years of patiently waiting. I am sorry, I tried, I really tried. :(

I *love* how cars without an interior are now useless, despite 10+ years of GT games not having a single interior view.

I will enjoy the 200+ premium cars, and I'll just use the bumper cam on the others, like I have for years.

This is really going to hurt come review time. I hope PD gets their act together for the next game. And by act I mean efficiency. We know they have talent and skill. Oh well, still getting the game when it comes out.

No

Give me a translated page of where you found this info THEN I will accept this as true, until then...

Look above you.

Pretty big disappointment, and it'll definitely hurt review scores.

Oh well, just gotta get over it I guess. I'll still be buying it either way.

👍 It's very disappointing for sure, but it won't hurt my enjoyment with this game a bit.

I want to see how the standard cars look during gameplay is that too much to ask , oh and those photomode shots are porn.

Eh, oh well. Not too big of a deal. GT5 is still full of other things, i doubt the lack of interior views for all cars will ruin the experience that much.

It does for those of us that have come to use only cockpit views.

I mean, it's gonna be so awesome and get you on such a high going through 200 cars and racing them in the cockpit view, then winning a car you've been waiting so long for, only to have to race on the roof.

Ok. Now there can be drama: OMG!! NO Cockpit view???

I may have missed it (viewing on the phone), can someone point me to the page where the words "no cockpit" are explicitly written?

Like I said, I probably missed it, but I only found "premium with detailed interiors and exterior and standard not".

Man this sucks.

Ever since we got the real cockpit view that is all I use I can't stand to use nothing else. Of course in the old days it was always the bumper cam. Oh well this is a disappointment.

After all this excitement, this was looking like the best racing game ever, no they've overdone this with one of the biggest failures (the no cockpits, not the game) ever in gaming.

What a bomb to kill my mood.

I've never used bumper cam. It just seems stupid to me. I'll be using a chase cam, but I won't enjoy it nearly as much as sitting in the cockpit.

If it's supposed to be "ultra-realistic sim" then why isn't having an interior view a priority? Have you ever driven a car from 20 feet behind or while being tied to the front bumper?

If I've got 3D (which I probably will sometime in early 2011 when prices come down) and head tracking, that's kinda wasted if you're watching from behind or from the front bumper. Just completely kills the realism.

※“スタンダードカー”はインテリア視点に対応していません。

Standard cars will not have interior view.

Here is the movie showing standard cars.
Hmm am I wrong or do they look little worse from the outside too ?...

Imo it's the quality of the video.

If the 200 premiums are build to a higher quality, and the standard cars suffer visually, then there is going to be a problem

For everyone who can't read Japanese, check out the US site

which page in the US article? I looked through all of them and at no point did it say standard cars will NOT have interior views

I apologise if I am incorrect, but I want to be 100% sure

Man some of you guys are overreacting. In every GT up until now there hasn't been an interior view. (not counting HD or Prologue) So why be so upset about it now? It's not going to ruin the experience. And in all actuality it's nothing but another view.

I play the game to have fun.

If I want 100% realism, I go get into my track-prepped MR2 and spend a weekend flogging it. NO sim game can recreate the feeling of G-forces, wind, the odd gravel on the road being transmitted up through your steering wheel..

Therefore, by your logic, NO racing game should be played, ever.

Premium: Includes over 200 cars
From the seductive curves of exotic sports cars, to the inviting sight of the road ahead when you slide into the driver’s seat and peer past the glass, down to the intricately detailed instrument panel and dashboard... Every one of the over 200 premium cars recreate every last detail of the car, inside and out.

Gran Turismo 5 contains over 200 of these "Premium" level cars.

Standard: Includes over 800 cars:
The massive lineup of cars from past Gran Turismo games has been beautifully recreated through the latest technology and the Playstation 3’s cutting-edge graphics.

Gran Turismo 5 feature an astounding 800+ cars, a vast collection covering a wide range of eras and categories.

This level of detail extends from street cars to custom racing machines, where the unique instrument panels, colors and textures of the seats and interior materials, and more, have been painstakingly recreated.

Below are the comparison shots between the level of detail seen on premium cars (right) in Gran Turismo 5, and the actual photographs of the cars taken during data capturing sessions (left). See for yourself how far close to reality Gran Turismo 5 has come.

I don't see a "Standard cars don't have interiors" thing anywhere

That Google translation seems to be 'clanky' as not everything makes sense in English! :nervous:

To me it read standard cars would have generic cockpit/interior ? :nervous:

Seems ridiculous to call it a real driving simulator if you have to steer from the roof!

Of course I'll try and buy the collector edition anyways :)
