I am really dissapointed. Come on, just 200 cars with interior view? Thats only a bit of double the cars than in Prolouge.

Yes the tracks are looking brilliant and the premium cars are great, but the standard cars are just transfered from gt4. Thats a really big downside.

The big talking about 1000+ cars was just crap. 200 cars are really lame after 5 years. They could have outsourced a big part of car moddelling. 1000 cars arent impossible in 5 years, if there where enough people who would work on it.

For me this is not acceptable. Big fail for the brand in my eyes. I dont want crappy looking and sounding cars...

You don't have to buy GT5, good for you I guess :P

Some 200 ridiculous look cars in enough.

But I like to know more about standard cars ??? How many of these are going to be in race 16 of them ? Also these are not GT4 cars they would have made lots of changes to them from gfx, physics, sounds

"More than 800 car models included standard

Go to movie page and click on the image
"Gran Turismo" with their huge number of cars included in the series, "PlayStation 3" and the current technology, what more beautiful reproduction of this car "standard" is.

The recording volume, how over 800 models. Age range, the richness of variety to choose from different categories, "Standard Car" will say the biggest attraction.

※ "Standard Car" does not correspond to the interior view."

This is the translated info from the Japanese website. The same web site that everyone confirmed no cockpit. My question is where does it say no cockpit?

In the official news from PD: As confirmed in a note on the Japanese site, the 800 “standard cars” in the game will not have interior view or high-beam headlights (new video of standard cars here, thanks Paskowitz).

Its dissapointing, but i will buy the game anyway. And in the meantime i play Forza, its an amazing game.

Dunno if posted but the Red Bull F1 car is a dead certain

http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite...d-Bull-Racing-021242863182148?p=1242807156063

For months the F1 team has been working with Polyphony, the company behind the game after Red Bull was asked to become part of the latest chapter: GT5 – The Real Driving Simulator.

In this version, gamers will get the chance drive the Nordschleife, try out the Top Gear test track and unlock a special car which... well, let's just say Adrian Newey is involved as is Sebastian Vettel and they both met the game's designer Kazunori Yamauchi in Milton Keynes earlier this year. The Factory and the Red Bull-owned Hangar-7 restaurant in Salzburg have also been recreated and feature within the game.

Haha after all these posts I have finally woken up today.
I don't know what to think about the premium-standard thing,
but I actually expected something like that from the beginning...

I don't care about the cockpits... I just wish the exteriors of premium cars looked a little better. And indeed, it's weird how in the one picture, the audi le mans looks better than in the other pic, just because of the lighting. The muscle cars on the other hand, look ok.

But hey.. We got day-night transition, high res tracks, superb physics, etc...
I don't care to race bumper cam once and a while to see the high res tracks.

But the only thing I'm worried about now is...
Remember the premium track thing?
Yes... I guess some tracks will be just put over from GT4 to GT5... And I actually don't want to know the quality of those...

Well the old La Sarthe and Nurb tracks from Prologue Special Edition were pretty much GT4 HD versions.

When comparing the two games honestly it makes me happy about the standard cars in GT5 because the only thing holding back GT5 really is the low resolution decals.

IMO Forza 3's graphics are horrible when compared the shiny plastic cars look so ****** next to GT5. sorry i couldn't find a close up pic of a le mans car for fora 3

If that would be the quality of standard tracks, I'm okay with it...
But it will be a while until we find out about the premium-standard track thing,
and the real track count...
But we can't complain, we saw already much revealed during E3 this year

PD haven't said there will be 'standard' tracks have they? All tracks will be modeled to their usual high standard if I'm not mistaken.

To EVERYONE, think of it like this, for GT5 PD were able to model 200+ cars absolutely BRILLIANTLY! But because they couldn't model all 1000+ that they wanted, they polished the models from GT4/GTPSP so that we could still use them, and feel them better then before thanks to the new physics.

So basically my point is, GT5 is ALL the cars (or close to) from previous GT games brought together in one immense game filled with (the 200+ new car models) new features, new physics and everthing yet to be seen.

Which to me, sounds TRUELY EPIC.

👍 +1

and as long as the standard cars are fully compatible with clutch... it should be an awesome new experience for certain steering wheel users

This is just from the back of my head and not completely solid on it, but I think the Nurbrugring track in the CES demo was labled as "premium."

Right in order to get this you need to right click the link and Save Link As:

Has anyone seen this video yet?
If that is the video I think it is (shows the Muscle cars at Indy, 2 road-going versions of rally cars at Toscana?), then I'm not impressed. It's obvious PD themselves are not that happy with having to reveal that 800 cars will be standard models by that video alone.

Every other trailer has been well done; this one is just a bunch of clips from GT5 thrown together.

Mmm.F2007 car.Premium...

Actually I was thinking about it...

How will the cars from GT5:P be considered? Premium or standard?

I mean, if they're to be considered premium, clearly the interior have to be remodeled to the standards of those pictures PD/Sony have release to the media. Or will they be considered standard and the interior view simply eliminated? And what about the exterior? They're clearly upscaled to be labelled as 'Standard', and downscaled to achieve 'Premium' status...

Repeating myself: I'm very disappointed with this. This choosen path is quite opposite to PD's 'prefeccionism'. The option for simply upscalling 800 cars from previous games, with no interiors, after all (but one) cars in prologue featuring dashboard view, seems like 'rushed project'.

The option of cutting down in half (or even less) the total number of cars but setting as minimum quality 'prologue-likeliness' would be, IMO, much more up to the tradition of PD's work.

We have passed from a 'all cars with interior view Demo' to a 'only 20% of the cars with interior view final-product'. How cannot this be considered as a retrocess in the series?!...👎

I downloaded the wmv, and actually looked better than on the gran turismo website.
In motion the cars look pretty okay to me,
it's only when you take stills from it....

Forza 2 did not have cockpit view!!! So developer for Forza 3 already had car models just add cockpit and some new car!!! GT5 is first game on PS3 wait for GT6 and All car’s will be premium!!!

Forza devs didn't model cockpits, they outsourced another company for that

This is pretty much as a football discussion: here, in Portugal, after the defeat of Spain against Switzerland, people tend to minimize the bad result we had against Côte d'Ivoire. I, as many others, think that they're two separated things. Eventual bad results of others don't minimize our own bad results.

What you are saying is like it would be ok if GT5 to have a glitch with cars with 3 wheels if FM3 had the same glitch as long as they would have 2 wheels only. This makes no sense.

This is an endless and pointless discussion as there are people, either because they're blind-fanboys (I'm not saying it is your case), or because they simply don't care about that aspect that are ok with this option from PD. While there are others, like me, who expected much more from PD. And I enfatize the MORE in quality, not quantity. To each its own.

PS: I know I'm going to be crucified by saying this but if there were ever aspects of development that caused the March-to-November delay, this is one of the things I'd accept as reasonable to delay the game further, even if it mean to reduce drastically the number of cars in-game.

PS2: Idea - wouldn't be all along better to release the game with the 200 premium cars and then further adding progressively more premium cars as DLC in the future?

They are all premiums. And all cars we've seen in demos are premiums.

So they have enhanced their interiors to the level of detail in the new cars that were showned, or inside the premium category, there will be 2 'levels' of detailing?

I think, they should just update the game one day, so that they have remodeled every standard car... although it might end up costing money

^^^ If you mean Prologue Premiums and Full GT5 Premiums they are anything BETWEEN 200-500k polygons. So Prologue ones looks extremely good but race premiums requires WAAAAY more detailed cockpit as you know.So it can be 500k poly model.I mean difference in cockpit complexity OF A CAR.They all premiums again.

You know what's strange, cars like the R33 v-spec II and R34 Nur are premium. And the other variation like the N1's, LM's and V-spec I's are just ports fron GT4. First off wasn't it easy'r to just tweak the premium models and get another 20 skyline variations in premium in stead of polishing GT4 models!

Just look at the two 69 camaro's, the only difference is a few badge's between them and still they based the regular camaro of a GT4 model.
