I think Mr. Hand-Shaking Man should try Yamauchi-san as a challenge.

So... if they choose to put bricks instead of cars, that'll be OK with you as long as you'd have, let's the 100+ bricks on thrack at the 24h Nurburgring?
IMS (In my speculation) this is how its going to go:
GT5 will have a basic yet fully functional livery editor. It will mostly consist of predetermined basic shapes (ie no flames or tribal). There will also be logos "GT" "Manufacturer's name" etc.
We will be to paint our car (wheels to) using a color wheel. Patterns (ie CF) will also be able to be applied.
As far as customization is concerned I do not think we will see NFS levels or even really FM. What we will see is the standard rims and wings for most cars and certain cars will be able to get an special made body kit. For example Renault Clio would then turn into the Clio concept by PD. Other than that ground effects like in FM are possible but IMO unlikely.
BUT... the real coup de grace will the performance customization, which will be very realistic and highly customizable on a level not yet seen before. What has me thinking this is KY/PD's constant trips to SEMA. He has also mention a couple times that he want real world performance parts in the game. Different types of superchargers (centrifugal vs sequential), brakes (steel vs carbon ceramic), turbos (variable vein vs twin scroll), and so on. IMO this takes what has always been the most fun in GT, tuning, to the next level.
All complete speculation.
The controller choice has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Its the same as "Guns don't kill people, people do".
One can be as inept with a wheel, as with a game pad.
How do you guys think - is intro going to be rendered or made of game engine ? For some reason I would like it to be rendered...
A good write-up from Sim HQ who I remember at some point last year (at around Forza 3's release), one of its writer mentioned that until GT5 incorporate damage into the game, it will always be an arcade racer (not an exact quote).
Those who think the DFGT is lame are most likely playing on ferocious FFB settings, and don't like playing without a clutch and H-shifter. I own a G25, and the DFGT is so close, and much more compatible with GT functions, that my G25 is gathering dust right now. I will have to advise you wheel guys though, that if you play on very high feedback strength, the wheels are going to wear out faster. Something to keep in mind. Those of us with higher-end racing controllers such as the G27 and Fanatec PWTS or GT3RS were a bit underwhelmed by the DFGT, but that's not an issue for the game itself. We just hoped that the force feedback response on those products would be a bit more robust.
What little we did see of GT5 was impressive — particularly the graphics and car variety, and certainly seems to have physics and eye candy on a par with GT 5's main rival, Forza Motorsport 3.
Personally, I think this boils down to "Cockpit view is neat in both games." It seems with certain folk that being surrounded by a roaring cockpit makes up for any number of shortcomings. I noticed this with some of my friends who played my (ignored) copy of PGR3. Even as atrocious as PGR is at simulating a car on the road, they fell in love with it when they discovered interior view. And of course, this is with the wimpy MS FFB wheel. Go figure.Bottom line: Once you try it, it seems to be on a par or just a tad better than FM3. Some things we liked more, some less, but it felt really good, and better than GT5Prologue.
The car felt and drove as expected, demonstrating understeer, oversteer and power-on oversteer in an intuitive way. Although the physics engine of GT 5 has been extensively reworked since GT5-Prologue was released, the game still had a too-faint feel to the force feedback repsonse and wheel resistance.
If PC sim fanatics are this impressed with GT5 in this build, we should be in GT heaven when the game ships.Heard the same thing at the show. I drove the Cup cars at Indy, several times. That report is still in guod's hands, waiting to publish. I didn't have to steer to the right in order to drive straight (ie, no staggered or asymmetric chassis setup) but other than that the car felt like a high-fidelity racing sim in terms of grip in the corners and over/understeer.
The commentators said that in the US more people had watched the USA-England game live in TV than NBA four final games put together ... I wonder if this is even possible...
Please give me Laguna Seca in gt5!

GAH! I don't think Soccer has anything to do with GT5. I also believe that there is a thread for that in the Rumble Strip.

Well said, I have a DFGT and have spent the last 5 months upgrading it for
GT5. It now has proper carbon fibre paddles, spring stiffened brake and accelelerator peddles and a spring loaded sequential gear shifter mounted on the left. The difference this has made is amazing, and Im glad GT5 is coming soon or my rig will end up with wipers and doors.
Pix dude pix !!!!!
Yeah, I play GT with a DS3 still, because even with a wheel, GT is just a video game. I'll save that $300 dollars for a wheel and spend it on a new set of tires for my 125cc racing kart!

I don't think they would forget Laguna. That's almost like forgetting Nurburgring.

I disagree with you. Pilots have to train in simulators before they can fly, right? Same with NASA astronauts. Police officers have simulator training now days. I think since buying my DFGT, that it has helped me quite a bit with my real car on our local track days. 👍
And a tutorial please. Thanks.
Did not mean to ruffle anyone's feathers but I will also admit to being a bit of a "Wheel Snob". When you look at the box GT comes in it says "The Real Driving Simulator" and having never seen a car on public roads driven by a controller, outside of MIB II, I see the use of a controller in Kazunori San's vision come to life as wrong. It's almost as if GT were being reduced to nothing more than another driving "video game". May as well just play NFS or GTA.
Nothing wrong with a bit of snobbishness IMO when it only extends to voluntary choices people make ( although buying a proper wheel is still out of reach for a lot of people ).
I know that when I do buy a wheel and experience GT "how it's meant to be played" like you say I'll probably get hooked as well ( therefore it's probably a good thing I don't try it ).
Although I do believe GT isn't exclusively meant to be played with a wheel ( even Kaz himself recently admitted only using a controller when playing at home ) and even with a controller I know it's much more than just another video game.
Forgive me the poor analogy, but I guess it's somewhat ( only somewhat ) similar when I order Chinese food and it includes chopsticks.
I'm one of those people who never got get the hang of those but I haven't really invested time in it but when I do ( similar to investing money for a wheel ) get to use it, the experience will probably be "superior" to using knife and fork.
Still tastes the same though........

Where did you get the info to do these upgrades? would love to up the spring strength but have not found a spring to do it with that suits me.

It wasn't just the "sai" / "zai", you spelled it Bonsai and what you meant to type was Banzai.
