ALMS G-Oil team uses GT5 sim at Petit Lemans. (scrole down the page in the link a bit)

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/alms-lime-rock-friday-notebook1/

They seem to have taken the GT5 sim, and programed a "green" techometer into it. Below is a quote from the article.

From what I can tell, it's basically the GT5 demo that we've seen since TGS, but you can only drive the Corvette ZR1 around the Nurburgring. (added to that, what I find kinda useless, the "green" techometer.

Second quote

I treid this at the Lime Rock ALMS event this weekend.

Wrap up;

GT5 Prologue, no demo
Standard Physics
Un tuned Vette
TCS
Auto tranny
2 lap arcade w/AI @ HSR
Playseat w/ G27
It was setup for people who may have trouble using a cockpit and/or not familiar with video racing games.

From what I understood, the program was to complete the race using the least amount of fuel.
I placed 4th overall (with an 88?) on Friday and was still there mid afternoon Saturday, after that I don't know because I did not go back to check.
I believe if I had tried again I could have beat that, now knowing the actual point of the race.
It is paid for by the US Department Of Energy and the Enviromental Protection Agency.
I like the fact the government is trying to make people aware; 👍
The program is to run next year also.

So nothing new for GT5 but it is great to see the additional software they had running with Prologue.

What do you expect from GC 2010?
WRC,Weather changes,Online features, New trailers, better damage, New tracks like Spa Monza Silverstone..

Did i miss it or did we never get any answers for that 'taking questions' blog over at sony? Not heard anything, seen a thread, got a t-shirt.... can anyone shed some light?

Not sure we did get any answers and if we did we might have been aware of them as nothing much escapes this community.
But it was an interview or Q&A with a Sony CEO, I mean did you expect he would be spilling the beans on GT5?
Or that he was even aware or cared much for the actual content?
And if he did, do you think he was allowed to disclose any significant info or details?;)

I don't know if it was already posted. Let's hope we get some good info on multiplayer mode...

......
In this week’s PlayStation Network Highlights we take a look at downloadable games Hamsterball and Fret Nice in our Best Of PSN video, and we preview the multiplayer modes of some upcoming triple-A titles, including Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Medal Of Honor and Gran Turismo 5. We’ve also got a round-up of the best minis, and a new section called Personal in which members of the FirstPlay team and occasional guests will be talking us through some of their most memorable gaming experiences.

Gran Turismo 5 will be playable in the Neste Oil Rally in Finland next weekend (29-31.7, in the Rally Expo)

They will probably run the E3 demo, and considering it is a rally event, only the Tuscany track will most likely be playable (I hope I'm wrong). Neste Oil Rally is a big event though, maybe they have made an entirely new demo for it, like the Le Mans and Nürburgring 24h's.

I hope we'll get some footage from there, hopefully some GTP-users will be going. I'm from Finland, but I won't be going :ouch:

Source 2

Only Finnish gamesites, but they are reliable. I couldn't find any mention on the official rallysite, but as I said, the sources won't lie. Skeptics can use Google Translate.

I posted this already to the WRC-thread, but I thought here it would get more attention.

Here's a video I made that shows the differences between standard and premium cars in GT5.

Is it really necessary for you to post the same thing multiple times in the same forums? Made worse for the fact that your video pretty much just shows the obvious and repeats what we already know.

Well done. I Always believed they would still work on the standard cars, adding more details and polygons. With the new lighting, I probably couldn't tell the difference either.

P.S. You Should make one of your fan made trailers with this song..

Even better, there is a GT5 logo below with a "coming soon" caption.

I went ahead and scanned the ad off of the back of July 26th's People Magazine.

It confirms 16 car fields for those who may have feared otherwise.

Is that layout the same as previous SSR5 tracks?

What a reasonable, rational, fact base disection of std vs. prm cars. Thanks, I hope you don't mind me posting it over at the NA PSN boards ;)

excellent video. My only problem was that the "headlight change" footage of the Lexus: I always thought those were lapping lights and the Lexus was just passing a slower car, but it could be a changing of high beams and low beams, too, I guess.

That's a Nissan GT-R, not a Lexus...

Nothing new.

It's basically a recap of E³, including it's figures (1000 cars, 200 premium, E³ tracks and cars) and yet they write they played the full GT5...

I don't think it's too trustworthy.

That site is bullcrap. They always take vids posted from GT planet, and posting it in their own video player without the source.
