Has anyone in there country noticed that GT5 has got a different release date, here in Australia, GT5 was due 2nd november, now it's the 4th of november. I know it's not a big change but i hope that is the only change prior to release.

https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-releases-in-australia-november-4th/

A date was never set in Australia prior to this announcement.

EDIT: I just noticed Famine needs to update the release date thread to convey this. So, if you're reading this Famine... :sly:

@ Famine.

I have a few questions for you...

On the recent Inside Sim Racing video (@ https://www.gtplanet.net/insidesimracing-gt5-special-yamauchi-interview-gameplay-impressions-more/), the topic of "jagged" shadows, door mirror reflections (not animated + no shadows) and bonnet reflections looking "pixelated" came up (29m20s). The shadows look more "blocky" to me in the interior view than bumper cam view. It seems clear this is a case of where the textures are being scaled up. I've been trying to get a good idea from various YouTube videos but I can't really make out the reflections on the bonnet well enough with YT video quality (even @ 720p). Is it a similar "blocky" effect to the shadows or something else because Venari talks about both looking "pixelated"? Do you / Venari have any high resolution photos showing the bonnet reflections? A buddy of mine says he thinks it's a simple (last-gen-like) cube map effect which is worse than Forza 3's reflections I haven't been able to confirm or actually look into the point he's making (yet), but some really good photos would obviously make for a more clear comparison.

Also, any chance you can confirm how bad the pop-in is for skid marks? Is it a problem with pop-in or is it a problem with not displaying the skid marks at all and then suddenly displaying them?

A little more info on "performance" damage would also be most welcome.

Thanks.

^It's a demo man, wait till the real thing is here and it might be a little different. Shadows. Seriously the things that some of us here are concerned with are so trivial especially on a demo that's probably 3-5GB. You'd think that there'll be some things that aren't detailed to the best of standard, I don't pay attention to the 3D trees or the blocky shadows, the gameplay is whats important. The graphics will be tuned up come November. No GT game disappoints in that aspect.

1. As I always say, I prefer to evaluate what's available & not what isn't. There's no reason for anyone to believe that shadows, reflections or skid marks will definitely be improved in the final game - unless there's a clear "bug" sort of issue.

2. No idea how big the demo is but that won't make any difference to shadows / reflections. Why refer to demo size at all?

3. I didn't make any reference to trees.

Thanks.

Hopefully they won't overdo it like FM3 does. Pretty much heats up on any car at any speed if you just dab the brake on even for a short length.

Gran Turismo hasn't overdone it before so I don't think they will start now. Insta-glow brakes in Forza has always been very strange, even more strange that before release fans were told it had been fixed.

As Emu76 said on the last page we didn't have a official date until a couple days ago (4th), all we had was confusion. I checked may vendors and the dates ranged from the 1st-5th and a bunch that was just "November" So I expected it o the 4th or 5th and not any earlier because thursday and friday are Australian usual release days. The 4th is actually pretty much spot on with the SCEE date of the 3rd for europe due to timezones so I am happy, it will not change unless of course there is a full region delay.

Does anyone have any info on the GT-TV aspect of GT5. I know (well I'm pretty sure) that what they had in GT5 Prologue will continue and hopefully expand in it's scope. To be honest I'm only using that feature of Prologue now, pretty much finding everything GT related I can cos I'm getting impatient :P I love the pieces on the GT and the Lancer Evo as well, I love seeing how Yamauchi really cares and really get involved and it's stunning how the GT-R (spiritual successor to my favourite car of al time, the Skyline) actually has some technology worked on by the Gran Turismo people on the actual car. Amazing.

I really hope GT-TV is much improved, i.e., more streaming HD, less downloading, and background downloading and maybe even some live broadcasted events would be pretty stunning. Things like GT Academy shown live in the game. One other little random thing I hope for is the ability to navigate the GT menus with the remote control rather than a controller, for times when you just want to sit back and watch the GT-TV stuff, replays, watch live online races etcetera.

Gran Turismo blew me away when I was younger and nurtured my love for racing games, and made me appreciate real driving over totally over the top arcade games. It's nice to see Yamauchi show this much dedication and continue to improve this unique game. There's real love and care goes into this, and I hope Yamauchi and all the guys at Polphony Digital know how much we appreciate their efforts.

Texted a buddy of mine in Mississauga, who called the Best Buy store there. No kidding, he texted me back with their response. The girl didn't know anything about a demo, but when he said the stores in the States are getting it, she blurted out "Well then, we should have it soon."

He said he started laughing, but the clerk didn't get what was so funny.

I'm in Mississauga too. I might check out the BestBuy on Dundas in Oakville since I live 5 minutes away from there.

Youtube comments are awesome......

jordan posed on GTplanet that stardard cars wont have cockpit views. KY said himself in the interview.

Hes from Gtplanet and thats a shame he doesnt know that all cars have cockpit views

My Best Buy (in New York) had two PS3's, but no GT5.

One had Modnation Racers and the other had MLB The Show and another demo.

I got all excited today just to be let down. S.O.B. Maybe it'll be there by next week.

My Best Buy had the same demos too. I'm going back tomorrow though. Good thing I live 5 minutes from there(by foot).

Well...they definitely have it in Chicago! I just got back from my Best Buy near home (after 2 hours of playing the demo) and I certainly enjoyed it. I noticed that this demo is an early version from E3 and damage was ON. Damage was a bit more sensitive in this demo and there were smudges and real time deformation and loose body panels....I even noticed or (what appeared to be) broken headlights but the quality of the damage engine leaves a lot to wish for really, and yes I do understand is a demo, but I hope this is not the final damage version. I managed to take a few pictures with my blackberry of a destroyed lambo and enzo! OH and btw mechanical damage was ON as well...after a few crashes my lambo could barely drive in a straight line. And finally, I noticed that damage was not shown during the replays for some reason! I took the lambo and crashed it against other cars but sadly the damage didn't appeared at all during the replays :( Something worth nothing IMO.

I played the demo at the Best Buy in Daytona Beach tonight.

It was not advertised anywhere on the PS3 stand, but I just quit the demo that was on using the PS button, scrolled through the available demos, sure enough GT5 2010 Demo came up and I was on the Nuburgring in Jeff Gordon's Impala. I never ran out of 4th gear up to the bridge where the 2:00 timer ran out. It was not easy to drive the car as I was unable to move the gas/brake to the triggers on the DS3, all options other than tire choice and regular race settings were unavailable. Over steer would be very correctable with smooth inputs from a wheel, or if you can manage, a steady thumb, something I don't seem to have.

Edit: There was no damage in the demo I played.

The bloomingdale one and the crystal lake one didn't have it nor did the dundee one when I checked. Argh.
The one I went to is between Shemale Rd and Armytrail rd 👍 They deff have it there and there was NO people waiting :) i got to try it all by myself haha

Great job with covering GT5 guys...My only question is will you like GT5 as much as doing all the coverage on it at the end of the day? Be honest. I hope to god this is the Sim to Save console sim racing... Supposedly Turn10 are turning straight arcade for the next Forza4 with kinect to get more sales....

Step 1: Big Big Coat (don't worry no one will think anything)
Step 2: Saw
Step 3: See what PS3 they have in case
Step 4: Remove a PS3 from store box
Step 5: Cut hole in display case swap PS3"s
Step 6: Run real fast
Step 7: Call friend to come get you out of JAIL!

My bro worked "security" at best buy. Best Buy is so easy to steal from since they can't touch you. My bro had to let so many people go. He got fired for tackling a thief. So someone should feel free to try this.

Steal a demo?:scared: We've waited for many years already, what's another 2 months.

I wonder if a person could bring their own controller and try to pair it with the PS3 inside of the kiosk?

Or just forget what i said, and rather talk about some guys inner thighs and beer belly. what a comunity.

Maybe no one answered because the answer to your question is obvious. We will of course enjoy the game more than the discussing of it. We are fanatic about discussing the series because we enjoyed playing the previous games.
