- FFB is amazing, there was two G27's and one G25 and I did prefer the G25 (as I have one) It's hard to explain but everything feels more natural and you really feel the car being connected to the road through rubber wheels. đź‘Ť

Nice write up Timo đź‘Ť
I am really happy with what you say about FFB! In gt5p and gt academy TT the FFB was bad IMO. I only have a DFGT, but I think its safe to say that they fixed FFB for that wheel to. :)

I´m so happy that monza is in the game, just watched the qualyfing, great course and one of my all time favourites...

Also Laguna Seca is one awesome course, unfortunately we didn´t see any footage from LS in GT5...

If Spa is also in, it can´t be better :)

Grass = slippery, agreed, but it doesn't have the same friction coefficient as ice! I've seen GT5 videos lately where the car doesn't stop doing pirouettes at low speed. I think it's too slippery.

Well mostly I meant too agressive steering manouvers and pumping the gas to gain momentum for the steering etc. Mainly just techniques that are not smooth but rather edgy. Or that was the impression I got.. you need to be real smooth and progressive, both with the pedals and the steering.

Volcano, the FFB for sure has progressed and now gives much better understanding and feel what is happening under you. đź‘Ť

The party was organized by Nordisk Film that imports PlayStation stuff to Finland. There was a lot of new stuff being displayed like Move and 3D etc.. (no 3D GT though). We were lucky enough to get an invite there and was really great evening with food, drinks, live music and GT5 :D

edit,

here's a snapshot of the place..

Some Finnish people might recognize the place.. đź‘Ť

From what I've seen the pirouettes happen when the other end of the car is on the tarmac and the other end is on the grass giving the car a huge spin.

And especially wet grass is almost as bad as ice.

I think we can count Laguna Seca in, it was the first ever real life circuit in the GT series.

Looking forward to some "Monterrey Historic" type races!

On the grass topic, rear wheel drive cars seem to get the worst from grass if its the rear wheels making contact, 4wd can regain control if 2 or even 1 tire is on tarmac.

Yeah Laguna Seca is in for sure but I wan´t to see some videos of the new version...

Or better not, exploring all by myself would be much more fun :)

The grass I've seen in GT5 videos isn't wet, though :)

I'll reserve judgement until I play the game. If the grass is anything like the GT5 Academy demo, any low speed off-track excursions (with no brake or throttle) will be like going ice skating :)

Thanks a lot Timppaq for your precious review.
From your words I got the feeling that physics were even better that Indy TT. Is it so?
Some time ago someone noticed that, going onto the grass, would force you to spend some time on the road before to reach again a good grip. Did you notice this behavior in the demo?
If I am not wrong you did not mention AI. Was it aggressive or not?
Thanks in advance

Yeah that's my only problem with the TT demo, just touching the grass and before you know it your into the wall!

Same here. Was watching it last night.

I haven't seen this video yet it is from July and is in spanish but it does show some interesting things, pd taking tire temperature or maybe tread depth and shows some cars I haven't seen yet, a Bentley being one of them. And the BMW's in the beginning.

Yes I feel that the physics are even better than in the TT demo, much more feel for the tires đź‘Ť Even though the S1's are slippery, it didn't fade the feeling away... you still feel a lot but just have less grip. And in very slow speeds the S1's don't feel like a soap, but like a sports tires. :) And again, the TT had 8deg of Celcius as the temperature so it would have had a lot less feel to it anyway. The main point anyway to whoever that likes a sim, you shouldn't be worried at all. ;)

The "dirty tires" are there, but that's no news as it was in prologue already. The grass IS a little too slippery though. Imo.. if it's a gameplay thing that they are considering, I'm willing to accept it. Wouldn't want to see people crossing through grass in public sessions.

edit,

take into consideration that this all was experienced without any sounds basically. Sad tbh.

edit2,

oh, sorry I didn't experience much of the AI, drove basically all my laps in time trial. :P

I wonder how old the test footage is?

Among others shown: Marcos Mini Marcos
An old Morgan
the Bentley

Interesting . . .

Considering that footage (track day footage) came on a GT4P bonus DVD it is very old.

The main video is from the GT5P Spanish launch party.

The video was made before GT5 prologue. The narrator says to expect the game in 2009. Still a pretty cool video though. In the video, kaz mentions that it took them 5 years to create GT1 and many sleepless night.

See you on the track hopefully, even though I think I'll just see the back of your car :)

Remember the spectator mode. ;) And thanks Timppaq for your writeup. High hopes now, high times ahead..

:) Right! I also forgot the replays. Prologue doesn't have the online ones but I think we can expect them. Online features will be fully unveiled soon, possibly at TGS.

Hmmm, regarding replays....

I love the 30 fps, ultra anti-aliased and impressive looking GT5P replays, but to be honest, I'd rather have normal 60fps, multi-camera, non-aaed replays as an option. I always value more fluid movements than the sharp graphics at 30fps. GT4 replays were very fluid and nice, I miss that.

That wouldn't be a mandatory feature, but something I would love to have. I can live without it, though.

Are you seriously making a case for the Standard and Premium issue to be extended to replays as well? ;)
I do look forward to online replays since they were absent in Prologue and the possibility of posting them on YouTube ( this is a possibilty if I'm correct? ) could create some interesting side-effects.

, Nah, I won't bite it mate. :D

Yeah, so I can show to the others how slow I am, and then people might be fond of me and let me win sometimes. Interestingly though, is the flood of Full HD replays that will fill Google servers starting on November 2, we better write an e-mail warning them, otherwise Gran Turismo could even take Google out of the air. ;)

Nah, I know it won't happen.

Making of GT scenes are from Making of GT4. I watched it 2 years ago.. They didnt put Morgan to Gt4 but its possible coming to GT5.

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but it may explain why the March date was scrapped...

N.B. This is intended as a light-hearted joke. I am not the author of this video, I just thought some of you might get a little giggle from it :)
