On thursday night I went with Grandi to a party that had 3 GT5 demo stations. (the same demo build as in the Finnish WRC event). And indeed we had a blast, thanks to the people who invited us!
Most of the evening was spent playing, we both drove mostly with the Motul GTR at nurb with R1's and it was magnificent. (!!!) It wasn't easy as we couldn't hear anything as the background noise was horrendous, music playing loud and just the general noise that a few hundreds people makes. It took a few try's to get the hang of it but the new ffb is so nice that it made driving quite consistent and enjoyable even basically without sounds - something that usually is impossible with driving games.
To cut long story short here are again my experiences:
- FFB is amazing, there was two G27's and one G25 and I did prefer the G25 (as I have one) It's hard to explain but everything feels more natural and you really feel the car being connected to the road through rubber wheels. 👍
- Physics are really really nice. It is indeed completely different to gt5p and you just cant drive the way you can in prologue. You need to think and drive a lot more smooth and as you would in real life. In prologue you can use tricks that never would work in real life as the game forgives you too much. In the demo we drove, you can't. Smooth is the way and I loved it! Feels really real. 👍 As I said the connection to road is maybe the greatest new feature for me in GT5.
You need to try it before you know what I mean..
- Nurburgring. Bumpy. Beautiful. Dangerous rumble strips. FUN. One more lap, ok?...
- Loading times were a few secs. I never really even noticed the game was loading.. the people at PD are wizards here 👍 👍 Makes the experiance so effortless.
- Ferrari 458 @ Nurb with S1's is a deadly combo without any sounds, 5 beers on the system and a playseat with loose wheel mount (one bolt was completely missing under the wheel!!) You can check the vid below. Sorry couldn't take more vids as the battery died soon after that.
- Rallying is insane fun! It's 10x harder than in previous gt's but that only makes it fun. I drove the tuscana rally only once, and Grandi was giving me the notes
Once you get the hang of it it really is amazing. And hard! But you feel the connection to the road here too and can't wait to try this with sounds and a good rig. Braking makes the car cut loose easily and it all just feels really good. One time is too little to learn all the needed new tricks here and I'm 100% sure that once I get a few hours with this it just might be the first time I will ENJOY rallying in GT 👍
- Maybe one of the best implementions of the track maker will be to make rally ptp tracks and have a mate of yours as the co-driver giving you the notes. With a few 2 man teams this and a few beers will be soo much fun.
That's about it, can't remember much more. I just enjoyed the experience so much even without the sounds and with all the other distractions that I can't even understand yet how much fun the game will be when we finally get it.
If I remember right my combos were:
- 1 x C4 @ Tuscana
- 7 x Motul @ Nurb (R1's)
- 1 x 458 @ Nurb (S1's)
- 1 x Motul @ Rome (will be wonderful race track for fast cars btw)
No assistst were used, only a few beers.
