GT5-P is the apetizer for us before GT5, it is by no means to have the same flavor as the main dish.

We are now all about to start getting our dinner/entree (plat principal). But for those who have missed the first meal, they can still try it (GT5-P) if they wish to spoil their apetite / hunger.

And by NOT releasing the Demo of GT5, Kaz is making sure that eager Fans like us (who have been waiting for a long time already) do not jump the gun, and do not get full before the main course arrives.

It is crucial for those who have come to this party, that they do not leave until the end. The Demo is left outside the house to attract those who are not yet inside ;)

Catch my drift?? Because a party is more fun when there are more people!

On thursday night I went with Grandi to a party that had 3 GT5 demo stations. (the same demo build as in the Finnish WRC event). And indeed we had a blast, thanks to the people who invited us!

Most of the evening was spent playing, we both drove mostly with the Motul GTR at nurb with R1's and it was magnificent. (!!!) It wasn't easy as we couldn't hear anything as the background noise was horrendous, music playing loud and just the general noise that a few hundreds people makes. It took a few try's to get the hang of it but the new ffb is so nice that it made driving quite consistent and enjoyable even basically without sounds - something that usually is impossible with driving games.

To cut long story short here are again my experiences:

- FFB is amazing, there was two G27's and one G25 and I did prefer the G25 (as I have one) It's hard to explain but everything feels more natural and you really feel the car being connected to the road through rubber wheels. 👍

- Physics are really really nice. It is indeed completely different to gt5p and you just cant drive the way you can in prologue. You need to think and drive a lot more smooth and as you would in real life. In prologue you can use tricks that never would work in real life as the game forgives you too much. In the demo we drove, you can't. Smooth is the way and I loved it! Feels really real. 👍 As I said the connection to road is maybe the greatest new feature for me in GT5. :D You need to try it before you know what I mean..

- Nurburgring. Bumpy. Beautiful. Dangerous rumble strips. FUN. One more lap, ok?...

- Loading times were a few secs. I never really even noticed the game was loading.. the people at PD are wizards here 👍 👍 Makes the experiance so effortless. :)

- Ferrari 458 @ Nurb with S1's is a deadly combo without any sounds, 5 beers on the system and a playseat with loose wheel mount (one bolt was completely missing under the wheel!!) You can check the vid below. Sorry couldn't take more vids as the battery died soon after that. :(

- Rallying is insane fun! It's 10x harder than in previous gt's but that only makes it fun. I drove the tuscana rally only once, and Grandi was giving me the notes :D Once you get the hang of it it really is amazing. And hard! But you feel the connection to the road here too and can't wait to try this with sounds and a good rig. Braking makes the car cut loose easily and it all just feels really good. One time is too little to learn all the needed new tricks here and I'm 100% sure that once I get a few hours with this it just might be the first time I will ENJOY rallying in GT 👍

- Maybe one of the best implementions of the track maker will be to make rally ptp tracks and have a mate of yours as the co-driver giving you the notes. With a few 2 man teams this and a few beers will be soo much fun. :D

That's about it, can't remember much more. I just enjoyed the experience so much even without the sounds and with all the other distractions that I can't even understand yet how much fun the game will be when we finally get it.

If I remember right my combos were:

- 1 x C4 @ Tuscana
- 7 x Motul @ Nurb (R1's)
- 1 x 458 @ Nurb (S1's)
- 1 x Motul @ Rome (will be wonderful race track for fast cars btw)

No assistst were used, only a few beers.

What gives it away?
Top left corner of the screen, and also other images in the series (try changing the image number). I don't have the game itself, so for me it took a short while to figure that out.

Anyway, there's still potential for GT5 discussion.
I'm not sure I would want to see a "Test drive" option in the final game. I feel it might spoil much fun/playing time.

Hey Timo, it's great to hear that smooth is the way in GT5, I was never any good at using the little tricks in Prologue, and the added realism will be great.:D It almost looks as though the cars have a real lack of grip at low speeds, did you find this to be the case?

In Soviet Russia, GT5 demo complains about the way you sound.

On Topic: Is it November 2, yet?

In mother Russia, GT5 wonders if YOU'RE premium or standard.

Finally a test drive option! No longer buying cars "blindfolded".

I believe that 9/10 times people are going to buy a car majority on looks. I know that cars might perform better, but if you want to purchase a 500hp mid engine supercar for a particular supercar race, are you going to buy what you really want rather what is ultimately the best car for the occasion?

Wasn't me cursing btw!

The lack of grip is because of me spending so much time in the grass and therefore getting lots of it to my tires. The low speed physics feels much improved, but the grass is made really slippery. I don't know if that is to prevent shortcutting etc. and I understand why it would be like that tbh. If I could choose I'd prefer a little more grip there maybe.

And most of all I hope they'll remove the throttle limiter off track! So annoying...

What you think PD will gain for not releasing this demo on PSN and just on some locations in US? I personally do not need demo as knew 6 years ago that i will buy GT5.

What makes you think they wont release a demo on PSN?

I dont think they will release this particular demo since a 2 min time limit makes little sense in a demo you play at home. I think they will release a demo but much closer to the games release.

I also think it will be a PSN+ exclusive for atleast it's first week which sucks :(

Nice write up Timppaq, out of curiosity which tricks in prologue that you can't do in GT5 are you referring to?

What makes you think they wont release a demo on PSN?

Because Kaz said so twice.

Yeah, this is among the stupidest things PD have ever done. Why is it there? :dunce:

I can't imagine the people at PD going: "Wait a minute, I have an idea. How about having a throttle limiter to be activated when off track? Why, I don't know, but I bet it will annoy people!"

Get rid of it.

Anyone notice that in Timppaq's video, the Time Trial mode apparently lets you control the car a lot before start/finish now?

Small, but good improvement, in my opinion, as on most tracks you used to be able to come much faster through start/finish on a flying lap than the starting speed they gave you on your first TT-lap...

I would also like to see the throttle limit when in gravel / on grass removed. I also think the grass at present does appear too slippery. Perhaps these two things are too prevent cheats taking short cuts. If it is, I don't think it's the ideal solution.

Thanks for the write up Timppaq. Sounds like good times are ahead!

We've been through this before, grass at high speed with throttle on is slippery. Grass has moisture and tends to "rip up". Load up the tyres on grass and it's instant spin, especially on slicks

That's not really the issue, I don't think.. yes, the car becomes difficult, but if you go off the road in real life, your throttle doesn't get suddenly limited to 2K. They should simply make it really slippery.. so you can't just hit the gas to get back on the track, you've got to ease the car back onto the tarmac.

Worst case, they just change it for Professional physics, to make it more realistic, and leave Standard physics as they are.

What's with you guys saying grass is not slippery? If you'd ever driven a car on grass in real life you'd know it's slippery as hell!

Standard physics in Prologue didn't have such a wild difference in grip on the grass, such that you could easily extend your line onto it and still have traction / lateral grip.

I think the throttle limiter was introduced for the gravel traps in Prologue, since it's easy to bury the car to its axles already in that game, and it also came in useful for the Time Trial's anti-cheat / polished grass.

Still, I think if traction control is turned off, it should bugger off altogether.

Get rid of it.

It's probably for demo purposes, seeing as one with little experience with GT5(most if not all of us) could stray into the greenery and take a large part of our 2.45min demo time getting out of it.

So they probably did it to keep things simple and fun as possible for the demo stations.

GT fans will buy it anyway. And since regular players (as in people who like NFS, Grid, Burnout and so on) wouldnt be too thrilled i think with GT5, they actually might lose some customers with a demo whereas ads, reviews and general hype will persuade them to buy it without knowing what its really like.

Exactly. :)

I suppose if you drive with traction control, then it really would throttle down like that, but it should be accompanied by a big flashing light on the gauge telling you that's what's happening.

Hell, I haven't even decided how I want to drive the game yet. I've been toying with Prologue, but only with a controller.. I haven't bothered pulling out the wheel lately. And I end up using Standard physics on RWD cars because it's the only way I can keep them on the road (without assists). When GT5 itself launches, the wheel's coming out of the closet, and I'll probably switch back to Professional for everything.
