Once again: If you don't want tearing or stuttering you can only run at exact 60 or 30fps, nothing in between.
According to all we've seen GT5 will be similar to GT5P (and GT PSP): about 60fps with some tearing.

I thought as long as vsync was on it didn't matter. God of War 3 runs between 30 and 60 and I've never noticed any stuttering or tearing.

By the way, they should also fix incorrect car specifications and transmissions for cars like the Cougar above. It's got an automatic transmission, but the one in GT4 behaved like a manual. Also I don't think it had a stock final drive ratio (as most muscle cars in the game), but I might be wrong.

Come again? The Cougar in GT4 had the four-speed manual.

I think there's a choice to be made here from a design perspective; do you then completely lock out transmission options for cars without them? No auto for the F2007, no manual for the SL55 (or any benz for that matter). What about clutches; are they perma-banned from Ferrari 458's?

It'd be nice as an option, at least. I think quite a few people (judging from one of SHIRAKAWA Akira's threads) would welcome such "limitations", whilst others would only be hindered and / or confused by it!

The AT mode doesn't really make the transmission "automatic", simply makes the CPU shift gears for the player. Personally, however, I would expect cars with transmissions that cannot be operated manually to stay that way. So:

Shameless self promotion perhaps but most of these issues ( and possible solutions ) are to an extend discussed and debated in this thread.
Feel free to bump it if you think you can add something significant or see an issue not discussed here already.:)

So there was back in the '60s a choice between an auto and manual transmission for the Cougar? If yes then I guess that PD modeled the manual version. In GT4 however there were many cars that surely had an automatic transmission in real life, but that in the game worked like a manual (no torque converter simulation, gear shifts engaged a clutch, etc).

Stuttering can be less noticeable because of motion blur and the way the camera moves.
Believe me, these tricks don't work in a racing game like GT.

I can't resist throwing this vid in. It's the sound I did for GT500 in TDU and I would love if the Cougar or the Corvette had this sense of character and might, instead of a generic whine with some bass hiding underneath...:nervous:
Liten to that burble turning into a loud roar and then, when you ease off the gas, there's some snorting and splutter, bangs and pops...mmmm..do want!:D:drool::dopey::D

You made that sound for TDU? Wow, that is amazing! THAT is the sound I'd give anything to hear from the muscle cars in GT5. The low grunting idle, the violent revs.. my gosh. So cool! 👍

Yes. The Cougar always had the option of a manual transmission, but they are rather rare.

It was either "Three on the Tree" or "four on the floor" They are rare because the Cougar was not an instant hit sports car when it came out. The average buyer of the Cougar ordered automatic transmissions.

Thx man!:)
In the mood for some tuned Nissan's V6 perhaps?:dopey:

How about an angry American V10?:D

Or the insane Italian V12 maybe? (I know, I know, It's AMG's engine:P)

hehe Ok, enough spamming from me.:sly:
If someone wants to, there are more sounds to be heard on my youtube channel.;) http://www.youtube.com/user/markomat666

damn 7:07, when he looks back, looks great! Also the damage on the lambo looks awesome!

The only thing that sucks is the camera man, maybe drunk :D

Achtung!
Closed GT5 preview in Russia shows new build, I believe:

maybe it is because of the bad quality or it is just my impression, but I recognized smoother shaddows, especially the in-car-shaddow.

Can someone confirm, maybe one of the guys who has seen this event live?

Yes that rearview at 7:07 is great. The rain is looking good in F1.
Yepp!Codemasters did an excellaent job with the weather effects but we need to know if F2010 is really a simulation racing game or another Codemasters arcade product like Dirct and Grid!!
