People here are forgetting about the unique driving physic for each car GT5 delivers, which no racing game on market can do.

These videos i post really shows GranTurismo has a soul, and no other racing game developers can develop such a game, no matter what they do.

and all this criticism, bashing, and trashing this game (GT5) we all know that Granturismo will still remain the best racing game ever, and the King of racing game.

I think you need to get your ears checked lol.

I think the problem here is too much mechanical whine going on.
I also here the deeper exhaust sound.

Personally, PD could skip the mechanical whine sounds.
Sound pretty good around the 3:20 mark, no?

Yes in the replays the Nascars, sound like Nascars... In the replays of the Vett it sounds as good as a 4banger...? Gameplay is whats going to sell this game not replays.

That is in all games.... if someone is lagging out playing in a different Country then you, don't single Forza3 out bud.

👎

You should brush up on the topic at hand before spewing out nonsense.

I never once pointed a finger at Forza 3 in a negative light, I just simply said that the video of GT5 reminded me of when it would get laggy in Forza.

No, because it's audio through crappy TV speakers recorded via crappy mic on a crappy personal recorder of some sort! I don't even know whey people bother to judge the sound in such videos. I've got games on my iPad that sound better than that, but that doesn't mean I'm concerned over how GT5 will sound on my 9.2 system.

Just commenting on the different tones, not the overall quality. :)

So even if another developer did exactly what PD is doing they couldn't achieve the same?
Granted, no developer right now does what they're doing, in fact they're the only ones developing a racing game on this scale for the PS3, that fact alone would make them King regardless of the quality.
Don't get me wrong, I really hope it will be and remains the best racing/driving game around but saying it will be the best racing game ever instead of I hope it will be the best racing game so far for this generation is perhaps the difference between being a fan or a fanb.....( since neither of us have actually experienced the final game to make a judgement ).

Or like Mel Brooks said multiple times, "It's good to be the king".

You know what you were doing man, come on... everyone on here will not accept that there game "GT5" is on the same page as Forza3. But at the end of the day, it may be a little better then Forza3... or a little worse... when all said and done but it will all in all be on the same page. The Casual Console Sim. Cheers

We are reaching 1500 pages and every now and then you guys still feel the need to start bickering about both franchises... and with a bunch of obnoxious comments while dissing both in light of PC simulators?

Been there, done that. Goddamn... just drop it.

There is one thing that will always separate GT from any other racing game, even if they end up being better games.

As most of the unforgettable, gaming history enhancing games out there, Gt is first and foremost the "materialization" of one man's (generic humanoid term, here) vision before being a mere entertainment product.

All other racing games are products first. Maybe someone somewhere is attempting to manifest his vision in playable code, and I will welcome what come out of it. There are no past or present racing games that share this added value (you could say soul) with GT. Not yet.

Legendary games are easy to spot. If the title is irremediably associated with it's developer's/dad's name, you get a serious pointer there. Names like Miyamoto (twice, at least), Kojima, Spector, Karmack... And Yamauchi

So far, for what i saw and heard. I would call GT5 the best Console Sim of all Time if the engine Sounds was not...Vaccum cleaner,Hairdryer,Washer Machines,Dryers,
Can Openers,Garage doors, Ps3 reading discs, Girl friend screaming, Hocking a loogie, Farting,My mom eating. I will faint if Kaz gives us realistic sounds November.

Ouch... I'll have you know I paid good money for this camera ;) I notice my videos lost some sound quality when I rendered them. Notice the diffrence between any 1 of the new videos and the Citroen Damage video.

9.2 system? Most I've seen have support is 8.1. And GT5 will probably in 7.1 if we even get that.

It's interesting to note that the sound could ruin a potentially great game for you. I've never been that satisfied with GTs sound (not since GT2, on occasion), but I still rate it as one of my favourite games, ever, simply because of the premise - buy cars (that actually exist) and modify them for racing. Sure the torch may have been passed to a more definitive series recently, but that's what sharing's all about :sly:

Anyway, I can hear the burble underneath the mechanical whine of the radiator fan and other ancillaries (which is common for cars of that era - we had a Chevy that made a ridiculous noise from all that crap! It's all you could hear as it drove towards you.) As usual, PD's sound artists got the balance wrong - in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if that's the GT4 / GTPSP mix.

I leave you with this:

You guys are all judging GT5 by the sounds of the public store demos, but we have heard a full host of more up to date engine sounds at Gamescom. This is no different to continuing to moan about no skidmarks, just because they're not in the store demos.

Yeah, you could use a little more... finesse.

The guy owns\drives a Porsche and a Ford GT (plus a bunch of cars\race cars he does have access, like the SLS and that Corvette - or is that his car too?), anyway the question is: Why the sounds in GT does not bother him?

I leave you with this:

In GT4 there wasn't difference between "engine bay sound" and "exhaust sound", it was all mixed together, so compromises were made I guess (especially for older big noisy engines I think). Anyway, even though I don't expect dramatic improvements, the new GT5P/GT5P audio engine should at least partially fix this.

By the way, they should also fix incorrect car specifications and transmissions for cars like the Cougar above. It's got an automatic transmission, but the one in GT4 behaved like a manual. Also I don't think it had a stock final drive ratio (as most muscle cars in the game), but I might be wrong.

I think there's a choice to be made here from a design perspective; do you then completely lock out transmission options for cars without them? No auto for the F2007, no manual for the SL55 (or any benz for that matter). What about clutches; are they perma-banned from Ferrari 458's?

They've made some headway into gearbox realism with the ISF nd it's auto-thing-8-speed; creeping forward and such like an auto does. But how about going further; stalling the car if you mess up a manual start?

It'd be nice as an option, at least. I think quite a few people (judging from one of SHIRAKAWA Akira's threads) would welcome such "limitations", whilst others would only be hindered and / or confused by it!

You can stall in GT5:P, which requires you to put the clutch in and hit the throttle to bring it back to life again, assuming you've enabled the clutch. ;)

Its possible to show good examples of GT engine notes, but we cant froget, looking at GT4 and GT5 prologue, many of the cars fall short of producing a realistic engine note tho there has been many improvements with the effect in GT5P over GT4

Personally I think PD are well capable of representing close to the true sound of a car, just that up until now the cars they have bothered with tend to sound decent, while all the rest tend to be way off.

The AT mode doesn't really make the transmission "automatic", simply makes the CPU shift gears for the player. Personally, however, I would expect cars with transmissions that cannot be operated manually to stay that way. So:

No auto for the F2007,
Here I would leave the AT mode available (as a driving assist rather than a transmission mode)

no manual for the SL55 (or any benz for that matter).
Most real life Mercedes automatic transmissions have some sort of semi-manual gear selection option, so I would keep the MT mode available. However I would make it work in a way that simulates the real transmission (will shift gear automatically anyway if engine rpm are too high or too low, some kind of lag, etc), with a few limitations that could be removed by fitting a "racing" transmission. That would add some variety to the game.

What about clutches; are they perma-banned from Ferrari 458's?
In GT5P, in some cars with automatic or semi-automatic transmissions, the clutch (if you've got a G25 or G27 wheel) cannot be used, so this aspect has already been taken care of.

That would be a nice idea, not hard at all to implement.
After all, players that use a manual clutch should be able to manage those situations. A "start engine" button (or combination) could be added.

Clearly I need to use my G27 more in Prologue...

hopefuly they'll manage clutch wear and stuff, and perhaps some better engine braking? mess up first gear in Prologue and it's all good, whereas you should be bunny-hopping stalling and probably upside down turning right in a nascar.

Funny thing: that was meant to be an example of where it isn't that close!
The engine ancillaries are still too heavily mixed, just like that C3 Corvette convertible. The cougar sounded better in GT2, in my opinion.

I think the sheer number of cars made it very difficult to get all the sounds right, especially when 650 or so were done in one go over two years, but finished 11 years ago! The sounds were tweaked since then, but the samples used are the same, generally, except (sometimes) where the cars are new to the series. GTPSP showed some improvement, too - this time the samples themselves have been changed, not just the balance.

It's doable but i don't think they're going to have it at 60fps, especially at 1080p. As long as they keep it's higher than 30 with no tearing I'm fine.
Once again: If you don't want tearing or stuttering you can only run at exact 60 or 30fps, nothing in between.
According to all we've seen GT5 will be similar to GT5P (and GT PSP): about 60fps with some tearing.

I can't resist throwing this vid in. It's the sound I did for GT500 in TDU and I would love if the Cougar or the Corvette had this sense of character and might, instead of a generic whine with some bass hiding underneath...:nervous:
Liten to that burble turning into a loud roar and then, when you ease off the gas, there's some snorting and splutter, bangs and pops...mmmm..do want!:D:drool::dopey::D
