I will probably get slayed for saying that El Capitan reminded me of something out of a Need For Speed game. Not that it's a bad thing but I think it lacks the great feeling most other Gran Turismo tracks have had. Why do so many people like it so much?

Are you kidding? The elevation changes are best part of it - especially that winding road where we go downhill to the sharp turn.

Quick quistion :
Well we get the long straight in the TOP GEAR Track ?

We presume so. In the E3 trailer earlier this year, the first scene they showed of the Top Gear Test Track consisted of a Lamborghini driving down what you consider to be the "long straight". Since the demo track did not allow you to drive the "long straight" I would guess there's some sort of mode that lets you drive aimlessly round the track like on Top Gear.

Personally, I'd like to be able to drive on the road around the landing strips at Dunsfold Park. With a total length of 4.81 Km and a curvy, yet fast layout, it should be fun. Additional layouts could also be possible by using different parts of the airfield.

The home straight and first corner are actually on that perimeter road - the track starts about halfway down the top red line there.

Sad really. Oh well, to each his own ;)

Damn that track looks like the perfect high speed course. I'd love to see a Veyron take it on.

Didn't we see the Maserati Granturismo on the home straight.I read somewhere that you can do all kinds of wild things at Dunsfold park

The GT web site says there are many "wild events" planned for the track so I expect we'll be able to use the straight. Hopefully it's possible to roam freely around the track and the runway.

If free roam is available then i can't wait to set power lap times around the track, im going to spend alot of time on GT5

I`m not so sure, cause in every demo video we see, when people flips through the tracks, we see the layouts of the tracks, and all we see when they get to the Top Gear track, is the layout of the circuit itself, not the long landing strip.

maybe it will be one of the variations of the TG track

Ok, thanks.
Shouldn't Monaco appearing in an official trailer warrant it a "confirmed" status just like SSR5 by the way?

If we are, in fact, getting 70 or so tracks...

I am ready to call any of the tracks seen in GTHD esque trailers "tentatively confirmed". To me it makes perfect sense. We are receiving all/most of the cars from GT4, which were originally planned for GTHD. I cannot see this being any different with the tracks.

Too me... it makes the most sense.

No because unlike SSR5 we haven't seen Monaco/Côte d'Azur in a GT5 trailer yet, the pic you posted was from GT PSP intro.

Your right, that shot is from the GT PSP intro, but Monaco/Cote d'Azur is still found in the GTHD trailer. Which I think that is what he is getting at.

Yeah I forgot about that one. I know at 99,9% that track will be in GT5 (along with Grand Canyon, Twin Ring Motegi etc), but as the trailer is from the older project (Vision Gran Turismo) people here avoid to cathegorize everything seen prior to GT5 as 100% confirmed stuff for the upcoming title.
And they're right, they must keep the list serious and 100% official. Who knows, things may have changed since 2005 (example: motorcycles seen in GTHD)

Also notice that its only in Arcade mode and in race. Just because we haven't seen it in those modes doesn't necessarily rule out the landing strip. We perhaps could see it in another mode, maybe Photo mode.

I am one who hopes that didn't get lost in the transition. :dopey:

But, those are definitely all great points and its good to know that others on here see the track situation the same way. 👍

Google Earth VS GT5:

Since some details (trees) in the GT5 version appear to be flat textures I doubt we'll be able to drive in the perimeter track or in areas much outside the main landing strip or the Top Gear Test Track.

I think it's possible. They drive on it in Top Gear show, why not? Most importantly - it's a lot of fun!

However, somehow I think that these details are not meant to be seen up close. They are flat textures, not even simply modeled. So this means that most probably we won't be able to drive on the perimeter road I pointed to earlier in this thread:
