Not really, the old TOCA games had this feature, you typed in your driver name and it appeared on the windows, was a cool detail.

another issue I see is that they won't have enough ovals (don't diss if im wrong I haven't read this forum through yet)

I hear ya. Of all the GT tracks ever I probably drove 80-90% of my hotlaps on laguna seca, most of them in the 69 GT40.

After a couple of years, when I'm mostly bored with all the other cars and tracks I still find myself putting in lap after lap, trying to shave a couple of thousandths off my PB.

I'll still play it if Laguna aint in there but it would kinda put a dampner on the whole thing for me.

How many ovals do you want? We know that we will have Daytona, Indy, and Test Track, and I would put money on Twin Ring still being included. With NASCAR being in I would hope that they grab something smaller than the Super Speedways, but I doubt they will be snagging every oval out there.

Daytona (10 laps), Twin Ring Motegi Superspeedway (10 laps), Indianapolis (8 laps), Test Course (5 laps) & Infineon (5 laps).
Perfect championship for inside the GT mode.

Then add the Daytona 500 & Brickyard (Indy) 400 as endurance races.

This has probably been asked before but does anyone have a list of the names of all the tracks at the end of GT5P? There is about 27 tracks there which I assume would be ones they plan to include in the full version. Just would like to know what the names of these tracks are.

Throw in a short track, like Bristol, and you have yourself something that is at least representative of the full series. I worry that they are ignoring short tracks and so the image of NASCAR to those unfamiliar with the series will be of massive, wide tracks, and "boring" racing. Throw in some short tracks and see how boring people think it is when you practically have to trade paint.

Yeah i agree, Bristol would be amazing.
Was the first track on which i drove a full virtual NASCAR race (500 laps in NASCAR '98, one of my first 3 PS1 games i got with the console).

IGN: How many different locations will we see in the game?

Yamauchi-There's 20 locations and there's going to be 70 different types of courses that are going to be in those locations.

Now that I watched the interview again, it does sound quite good that we'll see many tracks (more than we saw in GT4) Perhaps all being transferred over?

Bristol,Phoenix,Daytona,Indy and Darlington. are my choices.

:drool::drool: and I completely agree with your explanation as there is no way we will have less tracks than GT4

P.S why isn't the desert track in the 458 and FT86 videos counted that track looks fantastic

I certainly hope you guys are right but all the talk around here has really got me wondering though. That desert track would be amazing. I do love all the tracks that GT has given us over the years but it would be great to see some new ones aswell.

All F1 tracks, Spa, Monza etc...
we don't need fantasy tracks... the existing tracks are so beautiful...
the game iRacing uses laser scanning to reproduce tracks perfectly... why doesn't polyphony have a similar technique?

That's the first time i hear of the courses being in those locations, thanks for giving me hope again. ;)

I didn't notice that, so this might put an end on the variations/tracks discussion I presume, although they might use HD versions of GT4 tracks to increase the number of tracks, I don't mind, GT4 has pretty decent tracks, they might use the same models and update textures and scenery. With 1000 cars and 70 tracks, this game will keep me busy for several years. ;)

As I play GT4 right now, the tracks are divided into 4 categories.

1. World Circuits (19 total)

2. Original Circuits (13 total)

3. City Courses (11 total)

4. Dirt & Snow (7 total)

That equals 50 tracks in GT4.

What is likely to happen in GT5 is that all these 50 tracks, (though some are just variations), will be transferred over to GT5. Now we have 20 new tracks (or a few tracks that got lost along the way in other titles a la Red Rock Valley and Grindelwald) in GT5. That would be epic.

Now, what are the new (or re-introduced) 20?

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one!
Daytona International Speedway is two!
Eiger Nordwand is three!

....too lazy to continue.

My circuit list that I would like to see in GT5:
1 Spa
2 Monza
3 Hockenheim (old layout)
4 Albert park Melbourne
5 Sakhir Bahrain
6 Shangai China
7 Sepang
8 Montreal circuit

With this new info i think its still possible that location means country, i've counted at least 13 different countries from GT3, GT4, TT ( Spain ) and Prologue ( UK ) combined so far.
Combined with WRC locations and possibly Spa and several yet unnamed tracks i'm getting more hopeful.

Or do i see it totally wrong?

I have to point that in GT4 layout variations were considered tracks, so as each variation of fuji layout count as a track:

Indianapolis Motor Speedway - GP course
Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Superspeedway
Daytona International Speedway - Road Course
Daytona International Speedway - Superspeedway
Eiger Nordwand
London
London - Possible Longer Version
Top Gear TT
Rome
Madrid
Tuscany Track - From 458 Italia teaser

Maybe I've forgot some track, but I remember of these eleven so far. ;)

The reintroduced could be in my opinion:

Red Rock Valley
Special Stage Route 11
Grindelwald
Complex String - As I don't own a GT3 copy I haven't played much on this one, but it's there because many people like it.
Rome Night

There's room for four more....

Yes, that' why I said there's 50 tracks in GT4, despite the many variations. So yes, we'll likely see variations of these tracks too. The TT demo track is a variation of Indianapolis (GP circuit). So we may be talking about only 10 brand new tracks. Who knows, though?

I've edited my post and added Rome, Madrid and Tuscany. Besides, ten new tracks is good enough to me. 👍 As I was getting used to the idea of having only 20 tracks this is a nice surprise. :D

BTW: ZR1 rules, the most incredible american car ever made, I will use it to crush some newbies on GTRs in online mode, nice signature :D.

That Yas Marina circuit at the U.A.E would be a dream but the important thing is that the track count will be more than GT4
