Tires seem to work much better. Holding line etc. have only done online test with what was a twitchy McLaren MP4 on S3, I cant believe the difference. I'm using a DS3

Indy

Still haven't decided whether the new physics will require changes to my tunes or alterations to my driving or both. But it is different and an improvement for the better. My test mule MR2, which I had dialed in pre 2.0, now exhibits more power on oversteer than before - it's even more fun to drive now - but I can easily burn up those tires if not careful with the throttle. These are my observations of online only. I dont do much offline racing.

Not sure really, haven't put down heaps of laps yet.

Though I did run the Shelby GT350R around Rome in the Older Supercar Seasonal, and it was definitely MUCH looser at the rear. Lift off oversteer through corners was more pronounced than I remember!

I ran a few GT500 races on RM tires and the car was relatively easier to drive. More controlled. I did notice though that my tires were not completely warmed up in 4 laps although they were still wearing the same. Bumps seem easier on the suspension. Not sure what to compare it to since I usually run on RS tires but I did 1:33 at Fuji GT and 1:05 at Rome at 502hp. Seemed pretty fast to me.

Transition from grip to slip is more smooth. There's more grip and it's easier to do minute changes with the steering. Brakes are easier to modulate, and FFB has improved to the point that I can *feel* what's happening. For example, FGT is easy to drive now, earlier it was a nightmare.

Dropping gears, does it lock up your wheels now if to aggresive with downshifts?

In some extent yes, both clutch and non-ABS driving have been improved.

I am still amazed about the feel you get from the wheel, I have never experienced such direct contact with the road and sensation of tire-load and suspension-load in any game so far.

Amar, now you made me leave early from work :dopey:

Did you think the same before the update on the part I bolded?

I still have to come back home from the work and do extensive testing, I only managed to run few laps early in the morning before going to work.

But from my initial play with the G25 (will try Fanatec later afternoon) overall sensation of the force feedback carries much more information on the wheel and I could really feel the tire-snap point when going over the edge.

Also, suspension modelling feels better now, I really love the way how chasis travels when going over curbs.

It is just so natural and logical, hard to explain. None game I've played have yet provided such immersive on-the-wheel experience. Of course, it is only my personal and subjective initial opinion, could change later > still have to test all compounds, tire-wear and behaviour of chasis under different conditions.

Okay so it was not my imagination then 👍

It seems more grippy, but it feels like there's a lot more stability then before. My NSX LM Race Car would break traction badly at the exit of the final turn at Tsubuka. Now it just grips no matter how much throttle or lock I apply. Thing is my cornering speed is no different then before. Maybe it's harder to break traction now. I'm really digging it though.

Shem's initial observations.

I entered the super car festival in A-spec professional with the GT40 LM and chose LeMans. All aids off, manual, no HUD or map, cockpit view.

1. Controller sensitivity seems to have been heightened.

2. AI were all together 'smarter'. I made some deliberate, dangerous over taking moves and they responded well. They also seemed to be less 'on rails' and more aware of my presence in regards to them blocking me.
I ran off the end of the Mulsanne straight into the dirt and drove back on track right into the path of an oncoming GT by Citroen which managed very skill fully, at last second, to avoid me.

3. The car, which I have driven for hundreds of miles, felt more like it imagined it should with the new patch.

4. The interior view is something I'm very pleased about, it has brought life to my standard car garage. Using it on the Ford GT40 was amazing. It's just a black dash but there's a wheel and mirrors. It's more than I could have wished for.

So far, so good.......:)

:Bakelite:

I'm still downloading the patch, everything i've read in this thread would point towards it being less realstic. Cars in the game already rode the curbs too well, sports tyres already allowed you to out perform real life versions of the car.

Lets see how it is when I try it.

You're right it's more demanding for the driver...👍

Yeah you can really feel the road/suspension working (even for a ds3 user) If you Slam the brakes with an old car with soft suspension...really feels different ...you get so much feedback now!!

tires feels like they doesn't have as much grip as they used to.Try it and give us your impressions.

Anyone noticed yet if they fixed the front/rear ride height error? I'm still downloading the update but won't get to test it for another 6 hours... For anyone that isn't aware of it, the front and rear ride height settings have seemed to be reversed since release, so lowering the rear would have the effect on handling of lowering the front even though graphically it showed the car lower at the rear.

I agree Chris, I noticed that GTPL_Kolso set a superfast time with the ferrari 458 @ Tokyo in the TT 19 and from his replay the front was up in the air and the tail was dragging on the ground. That's not right??

It might be due to better support of the G25 and G27 wheel? I hope it is not and a improvement overall. I will test out 1.13 later on and compare to 2.0 when I update.

Liking what I heard so far about suspension modelling, will only know how I feel once I test it out though.

That is one thing I like with GT5 is that it feels natural and if it is better than before then I will definately enjoy it. I think I will drive the SLS around the Top Gear track again and see the difference in lap times and feel driving on the edge on Comfort Softs.

Nice to see universal happiness for the new physics.

I hope Amar is right, the lack of actual tyre feel in spec 1 just killed hotlapping for me, if they've got the actual grip/torque alignment factor right in FFB, that will be a big step up for me!

Will download/check tonight!

Thanks for your intitial review on the G25, just what I was hoping to the PD Gods for!

Who needs "Jesus" when you have Amar around to bring his wisdom? :D

I was very curious about this more than anything with the update. I enjoy GT5's driving feel so much already, this is making me want to call in sick to work. In fact, though I'm getting "that other game" tonight, I already had a feeling I'd want to put it off till the weekend.

The most important thing is that a Ford F-150 is 2 tenths of a second slower round High Speed Ring with the new update :D

It is more realistic.

How do you want to prove that? As long as every sim out there feels different from the other, you never will be able to say, which "game" is the most realistic ;)

And forget the word realistic and better use "comprehensible"
