^ Thanks Blitz, I'll be reading those articles with my (3rd) morning coffee 👍

Regarding the B Spec Anywhere feature did they mention if you had to have your PS3 on to be able to access it online?

If you don't need the PS3 on for B Spec Anywhere to work then I'm guessing the "Online" tab of your garage is your selection of cars that can be used with it. Example screenshots to explain here

Neal, i think that the online tab shown is just an indicator of wether you're connected to PSN or not.

Thanks for your answer Blitz ; however i still find it weird that you can interfere with your PS3 from a PC... couldn't this system cause some serious security problems ??? I mean, anybody could access to your PS3 :scared:

Thanks Blitz
Could you also elaborate on the slipstream effect. Has this been improved, as the sliptreaming on GT5p is very poor and unrealistic.

Hey Blitz, great article! Glad to see yours doesn't differ that much from mine, would've been strange as we attended the same event 👍 Was nice to meet you, now I know the man behind some of the tunes that helped me get through GT5P S class!

Now I'm here anyway, I'll take the liberty to add to your information and to refer to the GT5 facts & features overview I took from the presentation, and how I experienced the feel of the demo build there.

👍

Fantastic write up there Blitz...great read!!👍👍👍

Next time you are able to attend something like this,or know about an event like this to happen, send me a pm...if i have the time it would be great to meet up there...:)

As far as I can work out, the PS3 automatically uploads and edits a checklist of the events you have competed in to a central server. Using B-Spec Anywhere would allow you to take part in this by just simply ticking off the races as they come. This would mean there is no need to compromise security, or access your PS3. Think about it, if B-SA needed to access you PS3, it would need to be switched on, wouldn't it? Who's going to leave their PS3 switched on when they're not in the house (apart from those who took a week to do a 24hr race)?

Two good reads, thanks for sharing! 👍

Hey how are you? was definitely nice to meet up with yourself and the other members (Djie, Jilt and Rikson66). I posted something with a link to your blogs, but saw that your post was eventually confirmed by a mod. 👍 Your article about the feel of the game is very good by the way... Just read through it as well 👍 Anyway, hope to be racing online together soon :D

DG_Silva (post #127) answered it really well. Your PS3 doesnt need to be on. The rep explained it was web based and worked sort of like your stats list in BFBC2, for example. You can pretty much check all your stats online and your friends stats, but next to this you have the B-Spec Remote function and I think DG_Silva hit the nail on the head with this one...

Answered above this quote ;)

Thanks Blitz

I cannot comment on the slipstream because I was mostly doing time trial mode so that Id be on track alone. I dont know if one of the GTHQ members tested it, but it was a demo build as well. So we will have to wait until release to see how they have implemented it.

From WhiteAnimal166 post:

In normal mode (don't worry, 3D will be covered later) the game doesn't look that much different from Prologue when it comes to basic image quality. Outlines and edges are still ragged, there's no anti-aliasing to reduce the sharpness. It's not disturbing and you don't really notice this when driving, but when you're a spectator you can't ignore it.

I hope this is fixed in final build but...

^^^^ It was an early demo build so that should be kept in mind! 👍

As for 3D it was nice to see. The cockpit looks great in 3D with the steering wheel sort of floating in front of the TV and depth in all of the menus. But it was not at a level yet that made me go, "OOOOHHH WOW!!! I NEED 3D NOW!!" So I'm still going to hold off on that, although the head tracking looked interesting I must say... And I imagine using that in combination with 3D it will add a whole other dimension to GT5.

Very off topic: One of the PS3's had Killzone 3 in 3D on it which a couple us started playing for a bit as well and I have to say that THAT game looks absolutely awesome in 3D. That one DID get my attention, moreso than GT5 in 3D. But that is for another thread and topic! :P

Sorry Im late to come into this thread...
However as many have said earlier, thank you for this excllent report.
Its people like you that make these forums superb, well done....

Regards 3DTV, nice to finally get more peoples comments on it.
Personally I feel it will need the final version of the game utilising things like the dust particles, sparks, rain, smoke to help increase the 3DTV immersion and effects. Something I dont think weve seen yet. The external angles and views of the cars shown at TGS before a race also seem like they will stick out in 3D well. However I also feel that usage of photomode in 3DTV is being highly underestimated highlighting the beautiful cars/graphics moreso than ever before.

Some questions if you can Blitz

3DTV
Did you notice any visual worsening of jaggies. Was it confirmed to run at 720p Stereoscopic @ 60fps. Or was it currently running at a lower combined 3D resolution. Some have assumed beta demos were using 540i for each eye giving a typical combined 1080i @ 60fps. The other possibility is the game rendering slightly below 720p per eye and being upscaled to 720p native.

I guess some are kinda interested in 3DTV but not wanting to experience worse jaggies or lowered resolution just for the effects as a trade off. Do feel however the attitude of most regards 3DTV will begin to change when we see exactly how these games from Sony start to actually make it an enchancing feature to entertainment and possibly gameplay rather than be seen as just a gimmick.

Headtracking
Will it have full freedom of movement. Eg you can look up/down, tilt and angle all detected. Or is it going to only support horizontal tracking?

Don't know if you saw enough of the head tracking to answer this, but: did it smoothly match head movements with camera movements, or did it act as a switch so that once you tilt your head enough it toggles the view to the left or right camera (akin to hitting the button on the joypad)? i.e. a pivoting camera or 3 fixed viewpoints?

@SideShowFrost and Mr. Latte, I answered the basics of your questions in here, but I don't know the exact technical specs we were running.

In short: yes, the head tracking is capable to smoothly match your head's movements vertically and sideways. The 3D strangely enough appeared to look better without visible jaggies around the edges. I suspect the filter in the glasses has got to to with this?

Please read the blog link above for more info and don't hesitate to come back with additional questions you may have.

I saw Whiteanimal also answered this in his articles. But I'll give a brief impression of what I thought anyway.

3D- Not sure what resolution it was running in, but the jaggies do seem to disappear when you play in 3D, as Whiteanimal mentioned. I can also not give a full verdict on this really, what I saw there was nice, but for me didnt have the WOW factor I was expecting. Hopefully in the full version it will look more polished.

Headtracking- From what we could see in action it moved up/down and also left/right. I think if its working properly it will be like your head is floating in the cockpit so to say, and it will recognize your movements and display that on-screen as well.

This is all analog. So a small movement made by you, is a small movement on-screen. I think Whiteanimal covers this well in his Look & Feel article which is here.

Thanks for info, i must admit that i didn't see it like that ; now it all makes sense, there are several possibilities : run B-Spec directly from your PS3 like GT4, or via browser while actually giving orders to the driver, and even without your knowledge (!!!) if you set the driver's profile to "public" like detailed in the quote below :

Lend and Borrow AI Drivers to Gain Experience
There is also a special mode in Community called "Remote Races" where you can compete in B-Spec mode by selecting an AI driver and a car of your own to pit against a friend's AI driver and car. Your friends must set their drivers to "public" for you to race against them.

This also means that in turn, any AI drivers that you set to be public may be called out to race by friends from your friends list. When this happens, your AI drivers will participate in your friends' remote races even without your knowledge.

You can watch the races that you host in Remote Races, but you will not be able to give your drivers any direction as a race director like you can in the standard B-spec mode. This is to keep the races with your friends' online AI drivers fair, as they won't be there to coach their drivers.

Seriously, having all these possibilities will be awesome (except for my productivity in office :D)

Wow, I didn't see that. I can see me creating two profiles, just to improve my drivers' abilities. I guess people understand that they won't be seeing any live action when viewing online, just a top down view of the circuit map. :sly:

That quote from CoolColJ has some nice info 👍 Clarifies it a lot!

Blitz

Thanks for the update...

Still a real issue that LAN / Multiscreen hasnt yet been confirmed and likely wont be until someone tries it or is in a menu.

Yes, I found that disappointing as well since they were pretty relevant features in GT4.... I thought they would be able to confirm this by now...

Uh oh... Think the pics in my post have been hotlinked to much... Just got an Email from photobucket that I exceeded my limit... ?

^^^ Thanks Neal... I'll post the pics up there when I get home and fix the links in the first post... Didn't think about that before hand...
