I'd say more play without music, and even more now that the engine sounds seem to be much improved.

Music is on by default, so I'm sure a lot more people will have it on because they don't know how to turn it off

EDIT: And I know that is a terrible sentence, sue me. :)

Quality is holding up - BMW Z4 👍
Off course I wish he would try some other views...

The AI cars sound good too.
I think we can safely say most Premium cars will sound good enough for a game, in GT5

2:49 Is that a warble sound? Or maybe the transmission is damaged? The upshift sounds are amazing :D

So far Inline 4s and a straight 6 have passed the test, now for some Boxer 4, V8, V10, V12 and rotaries :)
I like how you can hear the thrum when other car's sound mix together with your own

Focus ST (Mountune)

I wouldn't get too excited just yet, guys!

btw, I think the Focus ST is an inline 5. Was hugely disappointed with the Audi quattro's sound in GT4 so hopefully PD have corrected that!

I'm pretty sure the Focus is a 2003-ish RS, so a 2-litre turbo straight four.
I'm not sure if that sound is the same as a few I've heard in GT4...

The ST in Prologue had a hint of 5-cylinder yowl in the mid-range, but was terrible in the upper register (just like the Z4 was.)

EDIT: I've only just watched the Snetterton vid; that is indeed a Focus ST - I was referring to the Focus in the "Z4 on Cape Ring Periphery" video being a RS. :dunce:

Kaz said GT5 was going to break video game standards in an interview, even with sound.
So I guess he wasn't lying after all :)

I said before that the demos had place holders, and many people didn't take the same opinion. I hope this finally proves my point of view...

Warbley Z4 in Forza 3

Zonda R, sound is quite faint and muffled, turn it right up to get an impression
You can also hear the boomy exhaust of the other tuned cars

I think you need to cool it for the time being CoolColJ.

You're already jumping the gun and we've only seen a couple appalling quality videos with no direct feed, which I seem to remember, is exactly the kind of videos we can't judge GT5's sound for.

Talk about double standards. 👎

I'm going to stay away from this website if that's the case! I'd rather hear rotaries in my own environment rather than a sample from youtube!

Not sure if that comes from the game sound engine or if it's a recording from the real car starting up.
Sad if it's just a recording of a car, since the in-game car probably doesn't sound anything like that.

Neat feature, though, assuming the sounds are close to what we actually hear.

Well, when you combine the voices / opinions of several members, that's an inevitability ;) We all know the pitfalls, and everyone's free to make their own assessments.

I'm of the opinion that the Z4 is definitely different. The MX-5 is an RS1800, which we can only compare against GT4, and that isn't exactly "fair".
The Zonda R, though, sounds just like it did at GamesCom, to my ears, what with that awful, awful recording. Then again, it was a pretty awful recording from GamesCom...

Are you serious he even put the vehicle comparison so you can hear the difference. People where super fast to judge place holders saying GT5 has the same sucky sound, but know we got actual gameplay with good sound on some videos and we need direct feed. Great 7post BTW

haha what the!

Looks good though, I liked the whole map type menu that was in GT4, thought it would have made a come-back, guess not.

I've already heard the quantum leap of the IS-F from the Prologue version, listen to the datalogger video and the ones I've posted before.

The other cars we've heard so far is backing up that leap across the board. Kaz said himself at TGS that sounds will be improved.

While this may only be a small factor, the engine sounds are going to be better, more realistic and much heavier.

I haven't heard a "bad" sound from any of the cars so far
I think this is the Honda hybrid?
There you go, sound doesn't degrade inside the car. And a backfire and flame out at 1:28
