i did count... there are exactly visible 16 Cars in the Nascar part of the video ;)

But 24 H races with more than that could still be possible if you just show lets say the 12 next cars in front of you and the last 4 behind you... wouldnt disturb racing at all and everybody was happy.

This is a technique pc-sims use for ages now, but im afraid PD hasnt realized that yet :nervous:, and we'll have to wait for a more powerfull PS4 (which im sure will take some time :D)

I hope and believe PD wont ever use it either. It's too unrealistic for them I think! And I agree with them.

I'm fine with 16 cars on track, it's twice as many as what we've seen in Forza 3 so far you know. ;)

I told in another thread that the citroen clips through the tuned corvette, but no one belived))))

It certainly looks like there's some overlap. What also caught my eye is that in the same scene you see the GTLM, Corvette and Viper off the tarmac driving over the grass. Seems strange.
Therefore it might also indicate an improved ghosting... Just a thought!

I may be shooting at nothing here, but the fact that you can see grandstands in the background of the second Nurb image but no track suggests the GP circuit will not be in the game (unless the game would only load that for the combined circuit?)

Not a disaster if thats the case, just an observation!

But its also just 1/10 of a decent endurance-race :sly:

yeah, i would like and im sure others would like more then 16 cars, but check this out

huge fields of cars are only good for multiple classes with multiple winners

in the end, how fun is it to blow by cars 30-50mph slower?

At Le Mans this year this is only 21 cars in the LMP1 class

At Sebring there was only 8 cars in the LMP1 class

If PD does the 24 hours right in t he game they will have it full of LMP1 cars and not waste any grid spots on GT1 or GT2 cars

So 16 LMP1 cars

1x Audi R10 or R15
1x Peugeot 908
1x Bentley Speed 8
1x Toyota TS020 GT1
1x BMW V12 LMR
1x Pescarolo C60
1x Mazda 787b
1x Audi R8C
1x Ferrari 333sp
1x Nissan R390 GT1
1x Mercedes CLK GTR
1x Aston Martin Lola
1x Dome S102
1x Panoz GTR Roadster
1x Lola LMP1
1x Cadilac LMP1 '02

I would love to race in that field for 24 hours at Le Mans

Forget the GT cars who if in GT5 can't race for class wins are racing for nothing

Its been a while... :sly:

Anyhow, from my own interpretations of the AWESOME GT5 video, there may not be damage in 'all game modes'.

For Instance, in the NASCAR section where the #24 car spins off (just as the #14 car passes by below). If you do a frame-by-frame of the action (from around 1:35 onwards), you will see the #14 car bump off the right-hand side rear quadrant of the car, and continue on, without incurring any damage or noticeable loss of speed.

Look very closely at the shadow of the #14 car as it approaches the #24 car. The shadow is clearly over the yellow line at the bottom of the corner. As the car continues around the corner hugging the yellow line you will see that the shadow rises ever so slightly, so that some of the yellow line is now not entirely covered by the cars shadow. i would expect this for a car following a line through the corner.

If you continue to do the frame-by-frame right before the impact you will notice that it takes the #14 cars shadow approximately 4 or 5 frames to rise above the yellow line. Then as the impact takes place, the cars shadow clearly 'leaps' back to cover all of the yellow line in 1 or 2 frames, this is contrary to the direction and momentum of the car.

I'm not sure if the track is Daytona, but having raced extensively on Daytona Speedway, I can say that I have witnessed this phenomenon many times in my eagerness to overtake some guy on the inside. At the speed that the #14 car was travelling, I would think it almost impossible for any driver to manoeuvre with enough precision to dodge a car like that, especially at the bottom of a banked turn. I'm almost certain that there is also a very small puff of smoke visible from the left-hand tires as the #14 car bumps into the #24. If there is, then this would confirm in my mind that there was indeed contact.

Although not concrete proof that there is no crash damage physics in all game modes, the sequence does cast some doubts in my mind. It is also telling that you do not see the aftermath of the #24 cars crash into the top wall.

Other than this small observation, I am very seriously impressed with what I see! My only other gripe is that there was no mention of a new and improved Photomode section. 👍

Tyre deformation is not featured yet, unfortunately. I think it could be a nice detail if it is implemented in the final product.

I know Forza 3 will feature this, and Live For speed uses it (perhaps more games as well?).

This is about the best grab i could get of the engine bay but it seems that some detail has gone into modelling the various components.

Awesome, looks detailed indeed! I've failed to see the engine before, so thanks for the effort! 👍

I don't know why but to me there is something GT4 like about the trees at the ring. They still look like 2D in some places, ie. Birds-Eye view would be this: XXXX (Bunch of Trees)

Agreed.

As I mentioned earlier:
One more thing, is that I the Nürburgring still looks like a facelifted GT4 version, instead of an up to date GT5 version, created from scratch. The lighting looks the same as GT4 as well I think...

The Ring still looks like the GT4 graphics in HD, you can tell by the trees, barriers and the view in the distance.

As for everything else in the trailer I would say that it was all in game engine apart from the fighter jets and the waving GT flags at the start. Those looked like CGI to me.

The people and scenery all look the same as GT5P so its not that hard to believe that its the real deal.

Robin.

It could be that they are teasing it and showing a shortened version of the video....in much the same way that God Of War 3 was shown last year.

GOW3s' first gameplay trailer only about 50 seconds and looked a bit bland and some were a but critical, yet when people saw the "full length" version with nothing cut out, it all became clear what was going on...and it looked great.

Maybe when they unveil GT5 in full, they'll show an extended version, with #24 getting completely totalled.

Just a thought. Could be completely wrong of course...but we can dream :)

P.S. Was there damage in EA's NASCAR games? If there was, there's no reason why it could't be in GT5.

Tyre is actually a suspension by itself and is not just a graphical detail. Tyre deformation on its own is a complex physics, but not considering it is like forgetting to calculate another linked suspension of the car. Hasn't PD realize how important tyre pressure and travel is? False physics for a modern sim imo. What a shame....:indiff:

Yes, there was indeed. Actually, I believe every licensed NASCAR game the last 10 years have had damage. 👍

Yeah I really think tire deformation would be a great addition. If I am not mistaken the physics in GT5p already calculate this it is just not visually represented?

The driver in the SLR is the same dude that was in that limited time AUdi R8 intro video to GT5p.

Also same guy that drove the Ferrari California on Nurburgring maybe, what a lucky guy!

One small detail I really appreciate and have been forgetting to mention are the shadows. I LOVE how real they look, unlike the rainbowed blur used in Prologue. I'm still not sure who thought it was a good idea to use several layers of shadow maps for 16 cars. Just strange.

Anyway, bring on GT5!

GT might already have it. In the GT5:P intro video, there is a slow motion shot of a blue Audi R8 going through a corner. The shot is in slow motion, and the front outside tire looks to be folded in some.

I hope that means a "create a driver feature".

Forget "create a driver". I want to use my Home avatar.👍

I have no need in creating a driver:P
We're not playing the sims or something like that...
It's a racegame, normal racers have helmets on ..
No sunglasses or hawai shirt

After seeing the latest vid though, I'm more inclined to belive that the things that have been discussed here in the past are going to come true, but time will tell! I'm excited as hell though!!!

Maybe someone else has mentioned it before , but I couldn't find something , so here we go .
In the trailer , around the 18-19sec mark , you see a racing driver walking towards the exit of a pit box .
I couldn't help noticing , but isn't that driver walking over the very famous "Brickyard" at the Indianapolis speedway ?:odd:
Maybe a long shot , but since Nascar seems to be included , it might not be
too far-fetched and it could be another new circuit to the GT series .:D
Unless I've missed something and this is old news , feel free to ignore this post .:nervous:
Grtz , Horch .

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the tyre deformation in that video was exaggorrated. Even at low speeds in tight corners the tyre nearly got rubbed off the rim...

I'm not requiring tyre deformation from GT5 at all, the trailer made me happy enough 👍

KY did say there would be a mode where you can get together with friends and just drive for recreation didn't he? maybe the sunnies are for that mode?

personally I don't see create-a-driver being in, more just using what we're given.
