Forget "create a driver". I want to use my Home avatar.👍

Yes but the problem there is that models are of different styles (Home is vibrant colours etc - GT is more realistic) and to me, it would look way out of place.

As for the create a driver - I don't see why not. In Tourist trophy, the game starts with the player entering their height, and later on you could choose your own riding outfit. I don't see why you would have to race with a manufacturer's liverly on the suit.

For me, it have either a black racesuit with red lining (with matching helmet) or a white stig suit.

One question - what is the song played in the video? Is is a special composition especially made for the trailer?

I was going to come and point out the helmetless driver in the SLR, and also the open face helmeted WRX driver, which does ask can we customise our driver?

The two places featured at the beginning are San Gimignano, a town of the italian Toscana known by its high concentration of medieval towers, and the Käfigturm building at Bern, Switzerland, just across the street from the Zytglögge clock.

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the tyre deformation in that video was exaggorrated. Even at low speeds in tight corners the tyre nearly got rubbed off the rim...

In Live For Speed you can set the tyre pressures, so I'd guess perhaps they purposefully set them lower to really show the effects 👍

In my experiences you don't get huge deformation like that until you're much nearer the limit

That is exactly correct, the tyre pressure has been reduced to a minimum for the video to help show the tyre deformation, in reality you wouldn't set such low tyre pressure unless you got stuck in some sand.

I'm totally with you on this! Creating your own personal racing suit would be awesome. No matter if you're driving the Ferrari F40, Nissan Skyline GT-R or Jeff gordon's #24 Impala, you should be able to use your personal race suit. 👍

For example, The Stig always uses his white suit and the white Simpson helmet with black visor. Keiichi Tsychiya always uses his green suit and the chrome green Arai helmet.

This has been brought out in the Damage Thread, but I thought I should start it up here...

The two Le-Mans cars racing down what appears to be a runway. I think it's reasonable to assume that is the Top Gear Test Track's runway, in a separate "Drag" mode.

Remember in GT4, how you could do speed tests by using half of the High Speed ring (or w/e its name was). I'm sure the runway of the Top Gear Test Track would be used for that exact same purpose. The Test Track will be put into GT5 for tuning, adjusting and timing your car, not for racing, although it seems some drags might take place :)

Yes, I think its highly likely that we will see a new max speed test on the TG airstrip.

Tourist Trophy had the ability to unlock racing leathers and clothes which you could mix and match as you wish. I don't doubt GT5 will have the same, but I have been hoping for customisation this time around, it is likely.

Since no one has mentioned it yet... the medieval city pic with the JGTC cars (first post, first pic in this thread) is Bern, switzerland, a famous spot for japanese tourists. The Tram also says "Ostring" on it which is a location in Bern.

Indeed, though they made a minor mistake: that tram is moving away from "Ostring", towards "Fischermätteli". The other tram (number 3, "Saali") is correct.

Image google "Zytglogge, Bern" for proof.

Note that as someone else pointed out in the meantime, the tower in the video isn't the "Zytglogge" but the "Käfigturm", which is about halfway from the "Zytglogge" to the train station. The two towers look similar at first sight.

Sorry for the nitpicking, but you can't help noticing these things when you live in the place. :)

The second part means nothing, you wear helmets like that in a rallye car, the guys sitting in the Celica in GTHD look the same way and dont forget that there were 3 suits for the open cars in GT4 (a white license test suit, a blue/red for normal cars and that old looking one for classic cars and some other).

Some things to think about:
The Ferrari California presentation also featured a normal looking driver without racing suit like in that SLR. And i could imagine when you drive a time trial on the Top Gear Test Track, you will wear the Stig's clothes. :D

Here is the same section of Tsukuba circuit at different parts of the GT5 trailer, notice the light poles and white wall lining is missing in one of the shots.

Different points in development of the tracks? Maybe PD had these videos on file for quite some time rather than making it all fresh and current for the GT5 trailer.

It certainly looks like there's some overlap. What also caught my eye is that in the same scene you see the GTLM, Corvette and Viper off the tarmac driving over the grass. Seems strange.
Therefore it might also indicate an improved ghosting... Just a thought!

What's strange about a Viper spinning onto the grass? :sly:

Great eyes there Jay V! Intresting, yet it's somehow confusing.

What's odd is i would have thought the lights would have been added later, so you would expect them to be there for the newer cars and not for the prologue cars, yet its the other way round in the photographs.

This suggest one or two things to me:

1) The JGTC cars and indeed Tsukbua where modelled before prologue.

2) The lights have been removed since the prologue stage for whatever reason. (I can't see why they would remove the lights)

A few more thoughts on it, Are the lights in the citroen GT scene as that is a relatively recent build most likely.

Perhaps the lights were added for night racing? (me being hopeful)

Yes, I think its highly likely that we will see a new max speed test on the TG airstrip.

I don't think that it will totally replace the old format. On countless times, JC has said whilst testing cars on the runway that he's had to slow down because he's running out of runway.
Unless you're driving drag cars, it'd be nigh on impossible to reach the top speeds of cars on that runway.

I personally think that was just PD imitating what Top Gear would do if they were let loose with two LMP cars on their track!

I did say it would replace the old one, rather be an addition a bit like the las vegas strip was added to GT4.

I looked closely at the Concept GT crash again and by looking at each frame i saw this:

Wheel is visible just before
Picture2.png

Then dissapeares with a portion on the car
Picture3.png

and comes back...
Picture4.png

Maybe they did this to make the video or something, not making cars collide with each other..

Has anyone noticed that these screenshot compared to Prologue, have (it's my opinion) in fact a bit worse vehicle graphics on them?

Compare these two:

I know that there is so much more details in the backgrounds of the full game but don't you feel that it is missing that beautiful sky reflection on cars and that they look just more "plastic" or maybe worse modeled like if they were from GT4 intro movie? I can't get rid of this feeling.. Perhaps it's due to the not-so-sunny weather in GT5 and in full game it will be back but now I'm confused about this.. in fact i think that this was the thing on GT5:P graphics that made me think I'm looking at real cars instead of videogame when playing

I actually think the lighting is much better in the trailer than we have seen in GT5P, but its possible the lighting has been doctered.

IMO the movie looks better than prologue.

I think they look just as handsome. The reason you see no sky reflection on the JGTC cars in that screenshot, would be because they're in the middle of a town and covered by shadow. ;)

When people start nitpicking about the tire going 2 cm into the ground, and going frame by frame to look for shadows, and complaining about trees... you know you've arrived.

So, i downloaded the video from PS Store and watch it frame by frame. I don't know if go frame by frame on the PS3 is the same of watch it on a proper player.
But i start to count how much i need to hit the directional forward to one second change, and guess what ? It was exactly 30 times !
Could this mean that they took the footage of a replay ? *-*

Maybe i'm wrong, but it can be a possibility.

People are nitpicking to help determine whether or not the trailer was CGI, it turns out it is in fact not CGI and uses the GT graphics engine.

Yes I know, but as I mentioned before (or maybe I forgot, lol) I didn't see that sky reflection anywhere in the video, maybe a little at that Subaru or Nascar cars, but that's nothing like the one in Prologue. But when I am looking at it it actualy may look more real in the game, at least finally a GT game with cars that don't look like they have just drived out from carwash permanently, even during endurance and rally races... ^^
